  • A child that can speak multiple languages and embraces multiple cultures. Someone confident and resilient. Is it easy to raise such a child? For mother's day this year, I thought I'd feature one of my closes friends - Yuka Andree. She's a life and business coach and an amazing mom to a third culture child. Yuka says it all begins with your own mindset and she shares more valuable information in this video. My favourite is something you'll find towards the end. ;)

The positive affirmations is very important. I was in a really toxic work culture where putting down people and sizing yourself against your colleagues is the norm.
The language learning advice is good, maybe my German teachers should listen to her. When I started learning to speak and writer in German, people used to correct me (both other German speakers and teachers) and it used to make me self conscious. I had a bad teacher that would correct each time you try to speak and it would make the learning experience unnatural that I couldn't do a simple conversation because of the anxiety...

So sorry to hear about your experience. I think it's also important for teachers to adjust teaching styles especially if they see a student struggling with their current method. I heard some people who actually think being corrected right away works for them but it's not the case for everyone, for sure. Hugs and hope you are doing well!

@@AlmostDiplomatic I take language lessons online so there is a lot of flexibility involved with the teachers. It was in a small group of a couple of other people so the corrections over the one hour class got really annoying but I just make a note not to go with her. I think that it is much better to feel good about yourself learning because it encourages language use and eventually you learn the mistake

I'm sorry for your experiance. Germans tend to do this, because they think: "We correct children every time they make a mistake, so it must be good for adults, too". I'm guilty of that myself, too. There's no ill will, so tell the teacher or change to another, if possible.
