- Irish soda bread is a quick bread leavened with baking soda instead of yeast or sourdough starter. You just mix it and bake it - but how long does it actually take to bake? In this video, I make a loaf of Irish soda bread with sourdough starter and time the whole process from start to finish.

Looks great! My brother use to make Irish soda bread and slice it about 1/4 inch and toast it for breakfast, lunch , dinner on st Patrick’s Day
Nice! I’ll be trying this out for sure. Thank you!
Looks great ~ I'll have to give that a shot. Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you for sharing! I have to try it
Please do!
Great job, I’m making this for dinner tonight!
Thanks Grant👍🏻
Hi Grant! Last night my friend came over for corned beef & cabbage & we also had an Irish Coffee! But I didn't look at your recipe until it was a bit too late to make it. So I made it this morning. I made half a batch & used my homemade soy yogurt instead of buttermilk. It only had to bake for 30 minutes. I really like this & guess what I'm gonna do? I've stopped making scones because of how fattening they are, & the consistency of this bread is EXACTLY how I like my scones! So next time I make this I will add a bit of orange juice to flavor this along with some cranberries & just a tad of sweetener. I will score it so that it will end up in 8 pieces. Thanks for another great recipe @GrantBakes
Looks delicious 😋
Thanks!
You and I are on the same page re: what constitutes "a little bit" of butter 😄 2:39
Haha it WAS a little bit 😂
@GrantBakes, could you please share the best way to store a loaf of regular Sourdough. I’ve used Tupperware-type containers and gallon plastic bag, in order to try to preserve freshness.
However, both ways seem to diminish the crunchy crust.
Do you, (or anyone else )have any other suggestions for storing?
I just store mine on the counter and try to eat it within the first two days. The crust hardens and diminishes in quality over time. To store it well, I recommend slicing the bread when it's fresh, and wrapping individual slices in plastic wrap to keep in the freezer. Then, when you want a slice of bread, toast a frozen slice extra long and it will toast up nicely.
@@GrantBakes Thank you for your response. And....I just want you to know, after five long months on the sourdough struggle bus, I happened upon your videos and have had so much success using your methods. They’re super easy to follow, very thorough, and provide beautiful loaves of bread. 😊👍🏼
How long will you (or can you) leave your left over starter (25 grams) in the fridge without feeding it?
I've gone up to a month! You could maybe even go longer :)
Nice! Can you please make sourdough crepes? Thanks 🙏
Great idea!

I would like to add raisins. When would I do that??
Stir/fold them in after you mix the dough together.
