Uncle Ben is literally his purpose for fighting, he devotes his life to fighting for justice over vengeance to uphold the legacy of those he’s lost
But he has now come to terms with the fact that no matter what he does or how many lives he saves it is all meaningless in the end.
He learned the hardest lession no matter what you do no matter how good you do in the end you are forgotten. Just like many before us that we no longer remember. The many solders that fought for us to give us what we have today. They are forgotten books written about them but no longer read. Its a sad fact when your gone your doomed to be forgotten with no mark left on the world or a faint mark that fades with time until it was like it no longer existed.
While that may be true, that was in a sense a lie to keep him going yet seeing TRUTH pure unadulterated truth he’s understands that more than what he wants to do, life and the universe don’t care, it just keeps marching ever onwards
@@ezealigosichidera8840 meaningless? He does not do his job because its meaningful , and how is it meaningless? Because he will be forgotten? That is legacy, not meaning . Because he will die and end in the void ? No he will not lol there are infinite heavens and hells in marvel comics. The issue literally makes no sense.
Spiderman wouldn't quit if it meant billions of people dying.
He would if it meant billions surviving
@@kingol4801Not true at all. He’d try to find a way to save everyone. Even if he knew he’d fail, he’d make the attempt.
I disagree, eventually people change, this video is proof of it.
@JessicaRodriguez-gi2cl this only proves that the writer doesn't know Spiderman.
@@JessicaRodriguez-gi2cl"this video is proof it " you mean a comic run that will get retconned and changed in the future to return to the status quo ? Lol have you ever read comics before , also you are talking as if peter is a real person
I like the story and I get the concept, but doesn’t this contradict the impact or revelation Peter had when he spoke to The One Above All or is that story no longer cannon?
Bro you need to stop watching comics youtube and tiktok because those are the only places that bring up that very brief spectacular spiderman issue. I personally love it and think it was a great story when it came out back in the day but the comics writers and editors are doing everything they can to avoid bringing in the religious figure and centering Peter as important in this way. If people actually bought and read the comics instead of pirating them or watching the youtube they would know in the letters section what the mega-level direction of spider-man was (non-religious and non-centralized-Spiderman stories). The entire question of whether or not OAA is canon or not is a giant self report: he’s largely ignored.
Anyways, have a good day.
@ bro, you could’ve just gave a simple answer like “it was retcon”, “it’s not canon”, or “marvel wanted a new direction for Peter”. But instead you come off sounding like a dick for no reason. But whatever, imma still consume Spider-Man content anyway I like.
Enjoy your life bro
I’m not sure Peter remembers that conversation. A later story has him struggle with having faith, despite meeting _the_ capital G god of Marvel

@Ragnorok657 Yeah I stick to the old comics too
i feel like they really chose the wrong character for this to happen to i mean peter has gone through all this and has battled with these thoughts and pretty much never quit because it meant people would die and in this instance wouldnt billions die? i dont think he would just drop it because he saw it as meaningless because its literally not meaningless its the most meaningful action to take is to help save literally everyone on earth, yeah u can see it as meaningless on a time scale if he does save everyone because it will be forgotten but i think hed come to the conclusion that its better that it become meaningless by saving everyone and eventually being forgotten than to give up and let everyone die
It’s extra ridiculous because we as the reader know that those deaths will never happen or if they do it’ll be reconned by next month , making this pessimism phase for Peter extra dumb
Besides of course it being out of character and over all an uninteresting trial for what could’ve atleast have been a slightly above the current average for current Spider-Man comics.
Well do you want Superheroes to be caricatures with impossible standards or do want them to be people? A temporary, and that’s what this is, lapse in their self worth is a very human reaction in the face of existential dread. Just let him have his bad day and he’ll go back to being Spider-Man tomorrow. Which we already know he does.
Spider-Man wouldnt quit. He would fight, he knows everyone dies eventually but its about making it so people get to experience life even for just one more day or hour, he doesnt care how meaningful or meaningless it is aslong as a life is saved.
He felt every single death and felt the weight of their lives vanish… that would break anyone
*“One more day”* 💀
@@nugget3327 that broke him for about 30 seconds before the continuity reset
You people are ridiculous. He’s obviously not going to let the world die. He’s just having a bad day. Shelve your impossible standards for five seconds.
@@H240909 have you forgotten the 1st ten issues of this whole series??? this mans on the brink and ever Spider-man fan cheered and celebrated when he finally broke bad
I'm getting real sick of the Spider-Man torture porn...
I kmow dead kids is supposed to hit hard, but like him, all of them chosr this life. This shouldnt break him. He saw ms marvel die last year. Hes seen dead clones of himself who are rechnically younger than these kids.
This should hurt, but this shouldnt break him
Well, I suppose issue here is that villain showed spiderman that no matter what he does, there will be millions who dies because he didn't save them and even if you did save them today, they could die tomorrow from simple accidents to brutally killed. But this time, death is in person in front of his eyes, claiming sould of the dead. What would you do if someone takes souls of those you care about and keeps doing it to everyone, including children, elders etc. But I agree, this should not have broken spiderman, considering this same situation has been used previously.
@aereiq But Spider-Man would save them anyway, even if they died tomorrow. He would save them just so they could live another day in the moment. Spend more time with their families, loved ones. It isn't about whether they die the next day. It's about the duty he carries each day, to give them the chance for tomorrow.
This is rookie Spider-Man stuff , he was at the bedside of kids with cancer , he saw the life leave in a homeless girl that he could’ve saved every time he swinged past her corner but he just never noticed her, a kid died from taking a bullet for him because he thought “what would Spider-Man do “.
Whoever wrote this issue is retreading old ground that has been done way better and with deeper nuance then just “ people will die eventually so every thing is pointless “ , everyone eventually dies so everything and every moment has a point.
@@asdasasdas3476 I think the Spider-Man before this whole storyline wouldn't break so much morally from this. This is just a crash-out because of the whole mental toll of these challenges (for example dying all the time). It's totally understandable to break after what had happened to him in that moment, but I'm sure he'll be back to end this challenge and be back to his old self morally.
@lorinct.7860see i would agree of not for the simple fact that peter has died before and is aware of that fact and has come to not really be affected by dieing even in this story it don't effect him much if anything he finds the pain annoying so no that wouldn't happen hes basically desensitize from himself dying
Oh just fantastic we had two good issue 63-64 and guess what they weren’t written by Joe Kelly but the second he gets back on the book it all goes to shit again really giving me a lot “confidence” for the new run he is writing on this character he clearly knows nothing about just garbage
I am praying they let Justina Ireland write for the book she clearly understands that character far better then Kelly every could

@ it is bad writing no horrible writing
first Pete would never ever give up it goes against everything he stands for great power comes great responsibility if he gives up he is spitting in the face of uncle Ben and Pete would rather die then to give up like he has shown many times in the past or in alternate timelines
Second pete somehow dies to the man he was just no diffing last issue they guy was so bad Pete called him pathetic and a outright embarrassment yet somehow in this issue he was able to kill Pete with Pete not even being able to fight back garbage just absolute trash
This issue is just a train wreck of bad writing and mischaracterization just a complete joke Kelly is all washed up he may have been good even fantastic at Deadpool like 20 years ago but spider-man is not Deadpool and Kelly very clearly doesn’t understand that character at even the most basic level
@@ETHANFELIXROMANOV that's bull and you know it. truth, ideas, hope, and responsibility make the hero. trouble, shit, flaws just makes generic characters. most people break before a sliver of spiderman's troubles. spiderman is a hero because he doesn't let all the bad stuff gets in his way to do whats right. what they did is just a "worf effect" moment trying to make this whole thing seem dire. its not about the misery, its just trying to stoke cheep drama.
@@ETHANFELIXROMANOV Okay, Nick Lowe.
You missed the best part as Peter's next challenge is THE JUGGERNAUT
I forgot about that, he’s not even gonna move. He’s so depressed he might just kill himself through juggy
maybe the 8 deaths are also symbolic too. The destruction and deconstruction of peter parker.
If we’re going by the recent issues of Spider-Man, I think we’ve finally reached his breaking point. Mans been depressed for half a year, went through the kindred, 2 chasm events, nerfed against tombstone, lost everything and has almost lost everyone worth caring about him, and so much more. In every single fight he’s in he loses more and more with no chance of getting a breather or some small reward. So seeing this be the thing that breaks him makes sense
Look at how they've massacared my boy...
It makes sense why Dr doom didn't do this he couldn't handle it

You gotta feel some sympathy for the character of Spider-Man when so many story authors are hell-bent on giving him misery
Hopefully this character can have a happy ending one day. Spider-Man and Batman deserve at least to win or at least to retire happily and watch their grandkids. Have a happy life.
Perhaps even offering comfort during their own deathbed to their loved ones that everything will be all right in the end.
I stopped at " it was actually more depressing thig time" Spider-Man deserves better lol
Nothing like pain in a Spiderman story
Its actually rather nice in this story, The 8 Deaths is exploring Petes relationship with pain. How he's able to bounce back so well, and how he's able to keep pushing past the hurt. This particular issue deconstructs the perspective Pete uses to get past pain, and even goes out of its way to have the being inciting the event commend him and compliment him on his abilities. Its a really good run so far tbh.
Peter needs therapy, he needs it for a long time, even Miles therapy and he's becoming a better hero. For like 5 years Peter's tried to make his therapy "just go out and be Spider-Man more" and it doesn't work
I think the only way to get Spider-Man back on his feet is to grab Spider-Man 2099, the literal embodiment of proof that what Spidey does will matter and be remembered no matter what because despite 2099 being from a different universe, it's still the main de-facto future of earth 616, to show Peter that he and alot of other people will be remembered, there's a reason the Legacy of Spider-Man was the first to return in 2099...but ngl, Pete also needs therapy from ALOT of Avengers, and also some alternate universe variants that weren't as lucky as him, like the Uncle Ben who quit being Spider-man now living in the universe where Mayday Parker took up the role of Spider-Man, before her father got killed by the inheritors.
marry jane dying was weirdly cathartic lmao
This writer doesn't get Peter...tired of people not understanding Peter write him...
Spider man is the punching bag for the mcu
Seems he's still trapped. That he's still holding the orb
Feels like it. The comic looked like it was missing a few pages
Peter wouldn’t be phased by loved ones dying, it’d be seeing MJ in Paul’s arms that’d have him quit.
If Gwen and Felicia also went to Paul, Peter would go full supervillain.
wtf are you talking about?
@ in the comics, Peter lost MJ to ‘Paul’, some mf that looks like a comic book writer self-insert. And not just lost her, he lost her in a separate dimension, and when he found her again, 2 years passed and she was married to Paul.
And then whenever Peter thinks he’s over MJ, he runs into her and Paul and Paul stomps him out.
The whole set of events is the worst thing ever done to Spidey.
I haven't read the comic but from this video it seems like this is not him quitting, they go a long way explaining that he is not backing away because is hard, but because is pointless. Quitting because is hard is what would be out of character, quitting because is pointless suggest a shift to nihilism where he didn't abandon his morals, it is just that they seem uselesss now. This could end with him becoming an absurd hero, giving a different kind of mental strentgh that complements its classic going against adversity.
I love how a lot of you guys are fighting for the idea that Spider-Man won’t quit, but you keep forgetting Spider-Man is very much still human. He doesn’t think on a cosmic level. He’s just a guy trying to do the right thing and when the right thing doesn’t mean anything why would you keep fighting for it. The right thing has lost all meaning for him due to him, gaining the knowledge and understanding that it doesn’t lead anywhere except the same thing as everything else nothingness. What purpose what meaning is there in nothingness?
Fucking thank you, most folks forget that the heroes in these comic are not infallible or invulnerable to such mental anguish. Even the great spider man, known to survive the superior spider man and coming out on top, is still human
Don’t forget that this spider man is going through extreme depression, and is on the verge of going truly insane
That's how I interpreted it as well. It wasn't the deaths that hit Peter, it was the fact that despite all the good he does and tries to do, it doesn't amount to anything. I feel that would kill anybody. Especially someone like Peter who knows his life is constantly burdened by being Spider-Man
@@xknightmare013 nothing ends on nothingness in marvel comics, it's literally a horrible take. So much so that it doesn't make sense in marvel comics , there are literally infinite heavens and hells in marvel , the universe literally resets to not end in nothingness, infinity fights oblivion and toaa the direct creator of marvel literally says his weapon is love , this issue makes no sense
@ that’s not what Peter saw. You’re right that is true, but they only showed him the end itself not what comes after so from his perspective it doesn’t have a meaning it doesn’t have a purpose
Well this kinda makes sense because Peter always had the belief that the cosmic level of suffering he has endured meant something only for him to realize it doesn’t. I mean he suffers tremendously throughout time only for it now to seem completely meaningless. This man needs a wife.
TASM might've had its ups and downs throughout the recent decade or so as far as creative teams are concerned, but getting Joe Kelly as the writer is a huge W. Loved his Deadpool and and Action Comics runs.
Guys, this is just another metaphorical “fall” that Spidey is going through, and he ALWAYS get back up.
Even spiderman has a breaking point. 😔
Can Marvel Editorial grow the hell up already? They're sadists at this point. Fiction or no, the degree of suffering they "have" to put Peter Parker through warrants psychological evaluations across the board. How many devil's bargains, dead loved ones & fetishistic mind breaks are they going to subject the poor man to? This isn't about relatability & the common struggles of man, this is about destroying the very idea of Peter Parker as a character.
Give my man Parker a break, he deserves it.
“When Spider-Man around nobody dies”-Spider-Man so that doesn’t matter?
It’s what he tells himself
Idk this is beyond out of character for peter
Well then again before all this he never exactly had this situation which gotta say would fuck up anyone.
@odd-dev He quite literally seen Ms. Marvel die last year. Wtf are you talking about.
Everything about 616 Spidey is bastardized to hell.
@@silversoulken let me cope please the whole Spider-Man run has gone to shit dawg you can't blame me.
Not really. Remember what's always said about Spider-Man? He always gets back up. Well, to get back up you need to be knocked down first. He's going to get back up and save the day, we just have to see him go through before he finds the strength within.
@@silversoulken That is 1 death. and death itself isn't even what's fucking Pete up in the comic. fucking READ my man. have a bit of media literacy before getting all angry. its the futility of LIVING in the perspective given to him that's breaking Peter down, and idea that Peter has never actually had to confront yet, its exactly why THIS challenge is the one that fucked him up out of all of them, he was able to overcome the rest with ease, and Cyra even commended his ability to do so. This challenge tested not his ability to overcome suffering, but his ability to make peace with the pointlessness of it. as said by LaffyTaffy bellow, you need to be deconstructed before you can be reconstructed. and this entire run is literally DESIGNED to deconstruct and reconstruct Pete.
Instead of getting angry just to be angry, maybe try and I dunno.....look at something more than surfface level? Petes handled really well in this run. What you seemingly want out of comics falls more in line with a Superman comic, not a good quality Peter Parker Spiderman comic

It feels like they’re just shoving the “please stop caring” agenda in everything these days.
This ain’t Peter Parker at all. wtf is going on.
This honestly just feels particularly inaccurate to Spider-Man to me, assuming he isn't being brainwashed by the orb in some way. Is it truly 'news' to Peter that people die no matter what? And who cares about what legacy or impact they leave behind? All that Peter has ever cared about is how people get to live the lives they had to the fullest, if they can rest feeling accomplished and proud. With great power comes great responsibility.
I mean i get it it's just weird considering his origin. I kinda thought he already accepted that all things die eventually it's just if he has the power to stop it he will. Just seems off because we have already seen Peter accept that he's most likely gonna die wearing the suit than peacefully in his sleep.
Peter has now come to terms with the fact that no matter what he does or how many lives he saves it is all meaningless in the end.
That’s the nihilistic view of the world. The cynical view. The kind of view of the world meant to break someone under the weight of it and make them give up. Is that fact true… maybe… but even if the end is predetermined… even if we don’t live to see our dreams succeed… or get everything we might want… it’s only by looking that take on the world and deciding to do our best to make every day a little brighter in defiance of that nihilistic take on reality. If the ending is we all die… it doesn’t hurt to still try and add some more pages into our books and make our stories more interesting. Because the simple truth is while death is inevitable… when and how it happens isn’t. So that does not make it less noble to save a life. Because saving 1 life can affect more than 1 life in the future… and on and on it goes. Maybe you save 1 life now… maybe you save 1… or 10, or 100, or 1000, or even more. Maybe you fail. At least you tried to save someone.
Peter was not really convinced by stranger’s answer because strange has largely lost touch with the human side of things. Strange is so used to handling magic and the mystical arts, death, time, and many things lose much of their impact. Peter needed a more human answer. Not talk of higher callings or grand obligations. Why save the world… because you can? Even when you think it’s too much to save… you save what you can. Because if they mattered to you… even if they don’t matter to the world… then they matter. As long as you’re alive… there is hope for today and tomorrow.
Yeah well in the end they're not going to have Peter stop the challenges otherwise the comic series will end so they're going to do something to get him back into the suit and fight back once again.
Until the next volume or the volume after that or the volume after that one they will eventually have him suit back up.
Hey… notice how Paul wasn’t mentioned in any of these deaths. This is either foreshadowing or they genuinely forgot his existence
Spiderman doesnt deserve to suffer and die over and over again, whats the point of having magic now if all is the same? Why does he have to die? Why cant he just win?
No way the writers hurt Peter so bad, he finally quit
Honestly I was gonna say Paul but this counts
I haven’t seen his death being displayed in the trial… foreshadowing?

@@ETHANFELIXROMANOV no- What has been show is totally out of caracther and logic.
Terry Pritchett said it best. To paraphrase…
“Why do adults teach us to believe lies?”
“So you can learn to believe in the bigger lies. Lies like Justice. Grind the universe down with the finest grind stone, then filter it through the finest of sieves… and show me one molecule of justice. The lies we tell ourselves are what become our truth if we only just have the power to believe in them.”
Itsy Bitsy was the first villain to make him break his hero logic. Deadpool had to stop him.

Imma give them the benefit of the doubt to turn this around because stories naturally have to include things to overcome and character growth, but this is EH.
Crazy how Marvel is still pushing for Phil Coulson to still be relevant in any way.

But hes fine with aunt may and mj deaths and turns into Rick Sanchez 😂😂😂.
Are we going to see a dark Peter Parker again?
I know at one point the original writer had created a comic book where spider man Peter Parker meets God
I think yall are all completely missing the point here in the comments. Its not the deaths that are breaking him, fuck sake READ the comic. What's breaking him down is the futility of it all. It doesn't matter if he saves them, it doesn't matter if he FAILS to save them. What's fucking him up is that in the infinite span of it all, it wont matter. No matter how good a person they all are, how terrible a person they all are, they will all be rendered inconsequential in the end. Forgotten, lost to the infinite grains of time, and the countless masses that have come and will come. Their legacies, their accomplishments, their memory, everyone who has ever loved them, it will all fall away, and there will be nothing to show for it. None of it will ever matter, and no amount of effort he puts in will change that.
Pete isn't sad that he knows people will die, he's having an existential crisis in understanding it doesn't even matter that he or anyone else is *alive* in the grand scheme of things. He will inevitably bounce back from this, but that doesn't change the damage watching what he watched will do to a person.
TLDR: For the love of god apply some literacy skills before throwing in the bog standard "ThIs IsNt SpIdEr-MaN!!!!" the run has been handling Pete and his relationship with hurt REALLY well. Hell Cyra LITTERALLY actively commends Peters ability to handle everything he handles so well.

Dude, I care about Spider-boy more than Miles Morales
Since they came up with bringing Miles to 616, I think the only spider person I care less about than him is Spider-Gwen
You prob care more if you knew Miles became a Vampire at somepoint and had to go to the Black Panther to fix it, only to see that he was chosen as the Herald for the spider-god, Anasi
@FluppietheRockruffFan And that's the problem. He constantly gets handed to power up and Abilities out of nowhere like some dragon ball bullshit. The God of the Spiders is favoring Miles despite the fact Peter went through more and suffering for the greater good, but hey, disrespecting White Males is trending now because of diversity. It is funny how the original black characters are actually popular, like Black Panther, Blade, Storm, and Luke Cage. At least they don’t be like, "Since I'm black, I'm automatically better than White characters." And you wonder what if suck ass. And before you say stupid like other people. I'm a black person saying this, and I seriously hate woke bullshit because it keeps disrespecting my favorite characters because they're white. At least Spider-boy actually has originality and a rogue gallery. And least he doesn't to the quire about Peter irresponsible despite getting hoed all the time.
@FluppietheRockruffFan And that's the problem, they keep giving power up and Abilities just because, hey, since I'm black, I'm automatically better than my white mentor because screw white males. At least Spider-Boy actually has originality and doesn't all of sudden get power up like some Dragon ball crap. This is why people don't like Miles because of this woke nonsense. And that's why Marvel Spider-Man 2 was trash. And you wonder why Black Panther, Blade, Storm, and Luke Cage are likable characters. Because they're actually characters and original. They have to change Miles Morale story multiple times because he doesn't work. Heck, people would rather see Spider-Man 2099, who is actually original and not getting handed power up because a spider god favorite him.
@FluppietheRockruffFan And that's the problem, Miles keeps getting power up and Abilities out of nowhere like Dragon Ball Super. So, of course, he gets special treatment from a Spider god because hey wokeness is the new trend. And you wonder why I Spider-Boy more.

Continuing to put up a pointless fight is nonsense, in the end everyone dies, no one is immortal, we are meant to come into life, live it as best we can and learn as much as we can & then leave. Move on from life into another journey. Peter grew up in this one 👌🏿
Question: Is this an actual story or another attempt by the woke people to ruin Spider-man?
What's going on with Spider-Man has nothing to do with "Woke" and everything to do with Marvel being petty. Because Sony owns the movie rights to Spider-Man and won't sell it back, Marvel's been telling Spider-Man editorial to make stories that would never work as a movie. This has been going on for 13 years and won't stop until one soulless corporation bends the knee to another soulless corporation.
And we (Along with Spider-Man) are caught in the middle of it.
@ wow! Thanks man(honesty), it is refreshing to see one of my beloved heroes to be destroyed from something else than woke(sarcasm).
@jimtaramas6081 stop using the word “woke”. You clearly don’t know what it means and just parrot it because you hear other people using it in a negative context because 8 years ago it was used in a positive context and kept those same people out of a job. The word woke has nothing to do with the situation.
@kite36 Spider-Man Peter Parker is a crap character anyway, they should just focus on Miles Morales from now on and kill Peter off for good
@ A lot of assumptions over here, but yes, I have to admit that I was a bit hasty CALLING this woke.
My favorite thing about everyone complaining about Peter would never do this is them acting like folks perspective on things can never change... when it happens to folks all the time...everyone has a breaking point
Believing everything sucks and that anyone with morality just hasn’t suffered enough does not make for anything interesting or insightful. Its certainly doesn’t make for an interesting development in any character as it’s always just an inevitable waiting period for when they return to normal.
@ but it IS different here, because a) he didn’t ask for this he was basically forced b) he’s actually dying here, and as been evidenced in every issue it’s extremely painful for him to keep coming back c) but most importantly, dr strange isn’t giving him a good reason WHY this is happening. Hearing it’s just something that has to happen is a terrible reason for him to continue. Even Cyra tells him this whole ordeal is pointless. I’m pretty sure in issue 66 Peter will talk to Felecia hardy and she’ll convince him why it’s important but right now? It definitely makes sense for him to not want to
@ and please miss me with “character development” bullshit. Everytime I hear someone tell me that, it’s always a crock of horseshit
the definition of character development is how the reader can observe the character changing step by step throughout the narrative. They can identify development by noticing how the character's traits change as the story progresses. The plot in the narrative plays a key role in character development.
I copy pasted this purely to spite you and nothing deeper.
Any way regarding Peter going through the experience of death I think he already went through that maybe 8 times now before this arc? So really it’s not anything new and regarding Stephen not telling him the reason that isn’t really valid to suddenly become a pessimistic tool as Peter has already seen that the scions might attack people randomly any way so even if there wasn’t a clear branching reason those guys are still a clear threat to civilians.
you know those everyday people who are just trying to live happy lives which Spider-Man you might say has the power to save and ergo has the responsibility to save them , which might call his whole shtick.
@ a) you can’t spite me, it’s impossible cause I would actually have to care about that being possible, b please go find in the past… let’s just say 5 years that Peter has actually died and come back. Because even if it’s not new as you say, it can become tiring especially when put under a new perspective and yes Stephen not telling him can definitely become a problem to him. Just because YOU think it shouldn’t doesn’t mean it cant
she didn't break him...dude your videos are so wrong it hurts....and your shorts....
This is stupid.
Marvel is stupid.
Spidey doesn't quit.
Not anymore.
He doesn't give up.
He has hope.
He's a hero's hero.
