Yay for the walks, I still keep up on them every day, even if I can't do anything else. I get comments in fencing asking me where I learned my foot work from... this stuff works!
great and detailed explanation, adn a great review for us as th e style we do is also heavily influenced by Judo, greetings from Yoseikan Aikido South America
Good explanation, but my masters said to always get used to having your arms up like a grappler, it will not mess up your movement, but have you used to an offensive or defensive position automatically
Good explanaton. I see Many Many Details that Merrit Stevens taught..I wish you would have shown the entire Kata. I'd be interested to know if there is any one (other then students from Mike Pabst school) left that stiil does the walks the old way. The first three ashi waza are the same.....maybe you could make a vid of the whole thing..??
Interesting. A slightly different approach to teaching the movement. We teach that you need to move your center first in the direction you want to go as opposed to pushing with the quad of the appropriate leg.
@Yojimbo416 this style of akido seems more judo based never been taught to lunge or push myself around always been taught to step forward with my center in harmonic balance gentally
Okay see this is where I'm confused - almost every video I see like this they're using that angled foot stance, but pretty much all the time in our Dojo we've got our feet both facing the same direction, spaced apart about shoulder length, in a forward stance...I dunno, it feels natural to me at this point but I really want to know which is the "proper" method if there is one...
HELP! I am struggling with "four corners. Reishi, Reishii tin con , tin con and good God I forgot the last one but I have to get this!! I can do them separately but then I face the wrong way and I forget to stay in a straight line. WORST session I've ever done to date.

Good explanation, thanks for providing increased clarity.
These are great. They definitely link well with karate training.
Well explained, students practice unsoku and tandoku undo on a daily basis and you foot work and centre will improve no end.

In fact lifting ur feet off the ground is on etiquette... But for soles bones....Its not good for u in long run
now slide both feet and you can do the moonwalk
such odd footwork
Too much talk and not enough simplicity. Most of it is obvious FFS
shhhh... u talk too much
