It took Jesse exactly 20 seconds to reach for the sunglasses from the start of "Color Your Night", as soon as Lotus Juice started singing, and he started vibing right from the start even then.
And who can blame him? This song is an instant jam, it carves itself a niche in your ear and nests there rent-free forever from the moment you first hear it. Whatever your opinion of Reload is, this song alone made it worth it imo. It meshes so well with the more chill vibes of P3 that it feels like it was always meant to be there.
It’s always a double take moment hearing Lotus Juice singing in Persona music, although he does a lot more singing in his more recent non Persona music. I wish he actually did sing more in Persona, as his cadence is perfect for chill songs such as Color Your Night. I love how much more emphasis there is on the bass in P3 Reload. The composer Atsushi Kitajoh did a great job transferring over a lot of his P5 musical influence, whilst still making it fit into P3’s atmosphere.

Yep, that was Lotus Juice. Persona 3 Reload is a full remake of Persona 3, and as far as I know it's the first time Lotus Juice has ever done this more traditional singing on an OST. The female singer is also new to Reload, and recorded all the original game's OST with her vocals.
To answer your last question, in the original game, a song called When The Moon's Reaching Out Stars plays during both day and night as you explore Tatsumi Port Island. In Reload, Color Your Night replaces it at nighttime. Both original and reload versions of that song are on the list already, so let's look forward to that. :)
He actually also sang in Persona 3 the Movie in the song "Fate is In Our Hands"

The female singer for Yumi Kawamura did the original Persona 3, while Reload's female vocalist is Azumi Takahashi. Every Persona 3 track that had Yumi in it had the vocals rerecorded with Azumi (and Lotus also reprised his parts in those songs with a new recording). These rerecorded tracks generally also have updated instrumentation, and often certain sections are outright rearranged. Most of the new tracks aren't replacing tracks entirely, but instead add more variety (eg: color your night plays as the nighttime version, where before another track played both day and night). The exception to that is the new title theme and new final boss theme.
And yes, that part in the original Changing Seasons is French!

Color Your Night is pretty similar to Lotus Juice's non-Persona music, check his albums out on Spotify! He's really upbeat and happy in his non-Persona work, I love listening to them after work, clears off the post-work blegh mood

Not sure if it was said before but I remember reading a blurb from the one of the music directors about Persona music in general. (It's been a while and I'm paraphrasing what I understood from it) I believe it said something about how they wanted the songs catchy because players would be hearing it constantly. They chose English because they wanted the vocals to meld as an instrument along with the other accompanying instruments but not steal the spotlight. (Since Japanese is the main language) It became a huge hit with the Western audience because obviously we latch on to the lyrics.

How did I miss this from you??? Color Your Night rivals Life Will Change for me. It's insanely great. When I heard first it in game I just sat there and jammed.
Persona 3 Reload is a ground-up remake of the original game in the Unity engine, but they made it with the intention of staying true to the original game. So it's using the same script except for the additional content (group hangouts, platonic branches to social links). They removed the fatigue mechanic from the original and so changed the significance of nodding off during class, and added a couple of new mechanics (traits and Theurgy), plus the general graphical punch-up of not being made for the PS2.
It's sort of the definitive way to play P3 now (minus fans of FeMC, since her route didn't make it over from Portable), though some people argue that because it's so much easier now (and it is MUCH easier, even on Merciless difficulty) it misses some of the dread/tension of the original.
I had fun, either way. It's a brilliant reimagining of a classic game that still has the punch of the original. I still cried during the end credits, so mission accomplished.
Persona 3 reload was done in Unreal Engine 4, it says so in the intro of the game, but besides that little mistep; u have everything right!!

As a French I really disliked the original Changing Seasons. The French voice sounds like a bad version of Google Translate. Might be a reference to what is Aigis but still, I can't stand it.

Back when I played P3 original, it always feel like french radio broadcaster was speaking while the song was playing.

Changing Seasons is a theme that holds really special memories for me. It was the theme playing in the first trailer I saw for Persona 3, and it, along with the trailer itself, was what got me into Persona, and later Shin Megami Tensei as a whole. I can almost recite the lines said during the trailer by heart, and to this day, that trailer still gives me goosebumps. But anyway, Changing Seasons still is one of my most favorite overworld themes of all time, and the Reload version, in my opinion, improved on it even more. The original version had the singer speak French proverbs, while the Reload version had the singer sing in more straightforward English lyrics. While the French lyrics were poignant and relevant to the game's message, the English lyrics keeps to the rhythm of the music and is even more upbeat to match the mood of where the theme plays. Speaking of which, Changing Seasons plays as the second overworld theme for walking around school (you play as a high school student) at the start of the new semester. So when this plays for the first time in-game, it really does feel like the passing of the seasons and a start of new beginnings, and it remains one of the coolest things I've experienced in a game each time it happens.
And Color Your Night just feels like you're out loose in the town at night and having a blast. It reminds me of going out at night in my college years, just walking around and seeing everything there is to see. Not going to lie, I never fail to say "Hey!" along with the lyrics every. Single. Time.

Literally, no meme intended, I've been waiting for this. Color Your Night is such an amazing new track that fits perfecty along the old, and Changing Seasons is probably the one track that's inarguably an improvement over the original (but I like all the new tracks).

Reload is essentially a full remake.
It stays true to the original game as much as possible while adding a few new things here and there that weren’t in the original Persona 3 game, and it was made with entirely new assets in a whole different engine (Unreal Engine 4)
They added some scenes that weren’t in the original Persona 3, but were in Persona 3 FES and Portable, BUT ALSO they added some new scenes exclusive to Reload that flesh out the antagonists, for example.
Color Your Night is a good example, since yes, they did replace a song that repeated at night. When The Moon’s Reaching Out Stars played at both daytime and nighttime in the original, and in Reload they added Color Your Night for the nighttime so it only plays at daytime.

I missed the french in the original Changing Seasons so much. It's just a nice touch, plus one of those phrases always stuck with me: "Les temps blanchit les têtes sans nourir la raison" or, roughly, "time just makes heads white without nourishing reason". Like time just gives people gray/white hair, they just get old, not necessarily wiser. I feel like it plays along with the whole memento mori theme of the game really well.

Persona 3 Reload is a from the ground up remake of Persona 3, in the graphical style of Persona 5.
In the OG P3, we only had one song play that plays during the day and night, which is, When the Moon Reaches out to The Stars.
Now in the remake, we have a new versionf of When the Moon Reaches out to the Stars, that plays during the day when your out of school, and now Color your Night, that plays at night when you're out exploring and having fun in the town.
Ill say it again, i love when people react to Lotus Juice singing i find it kinda funny since im so used to him singing now haha.
From how i understand it, the French in the OG P3 Changing seasons, is a stock sort of thing, The french lyrics are Proverbs i think. Reload completely guts the french and makes a new song out it with new lyrics.
Another song that does this is Iwaitodai Dorms, the OG is a sample or a stock( i dont know the terminology, please correct me) the Reload Version is a new song with Lotus Juice. I personally prefer the Reload Songs compared to the older ones. I hope you listen to the Reload Version of Iwaitodai Dorms

As a big fan of the original p3, i was very skeptical of the remake changing anything, especially replacing music.
And then i heard this song, which skyrocketed into my top 3 persona tracks. Other "overworld" rpg tracks can get incredibly repetitive or stale, but there were multiple times when i was playing that i would just stop playing, put the controller down, and just vibe.
And even between sessions i would listen to it on my own, because i simply cannot have bad vibes when listening to this song.
Oh, I've been waiting for this! First time I heard Color Your Night during the game, I had to stop and just listen for a while. It affected me.
In no time at all, Color Your Night became one of my all-time favorite video game tracks.

Color Your Night blew me away when I first heard it. I wasn't really a fan of any of the new music in Persona 5 Royal, so I wasn't expecting the original music to 3 Reload to be anything truly great. I was proven wrong the second I went out at night in-game.
As for Changing Seasons... I prefer the original. I prefer the instrumentation, the lack of vocals, and the random French in the middle of it!
Honestly the reload version fits more because the French is just proverbs while the lyrics in reload fits more.

I haven't played P3R yet but I love Color Your Night. Changing seasons I have read mixed reviews so I won't listen to it until I have played the game to make my own opinion.

I have been waiting for you to cover Changing Seasons since you started this channel. It is my favorite song of all time, so I wanted to hear what you thought of it. When it was revealed for Persona 3 Reload that many of the songs were going to be rerecorded, I was most nervous for Changing Seasons, as the most recent remix of it (Changing Seasons -Reincarnation- from the Persona 3 -Reincarnation- album) was my absolute favorite version of it. But the moment I heard it, I was blown away, they kept the feel of the song perfectly and improved upon it in an even better way from the Reincarnation version, and Azumi knocked the vocals out of the park while not copying the French samples in the original. The only thing I wish the Reload version had which the Reincarnation version does is the little bridge section, but otherwise the Reload version is practically perfect.
And that's nothing to say of Color Your Night! It has been so many years since I played P3 and Color Your Night perfectly sounded like a song from the original, that's how good it is at fitting in to the vibes of the P3 soundtrack! It never leaves my head after I finish a session of playing
The french in the original Changing Seasons is from a sample disc which is why they dropped it from reload. It’s all just french proverbs
I genuinely think that Lotus Juice has absolutely done his best work with Azumi Takahashi compared to Yumi Kawamura, as much as Yumi is fantastic, i think her voice when paired with Azumi is just a little worse. I feel thats part of why they mixed the singing and the rap so much in Reload because their voices flow so so well together. Its genuinely great.
