Is the 2021 Toyota Camry TRD the BEST sport sedan for the price?

- The Camry TRD seems to be the last of its kind from Toyota. Under the hood is a 3.5L V6 that produces 301HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the outside the Camry TRD get a totally unique front fascia, aero kit, 19in wheels, and cat-back exhaust. On the inside the TRD takes the lower spec route with an updated 7in infotainment system, but has special seats and other touches that are TRD specific. Ia the 2021 Toyota Camry TRD the BEST sport sedan for the price?

Hi
For this un-exotic, attainable sedan, Joe gives one of his best, funny, entertaining, and informative reviews. Thanks for 110% every time!
That really means a lot Jamie!
I love how this Camry looks. I would love to have one, but I keep thinking that the TRD trims should also have more power, maybe turbocharged engines.
Toyota won't do that because they're all about reliability. They would probably use a bigger na engine
For a camry, I’d say it’s pretty fast
It doesn't needs more power . Isn't it 300+HP?
Thanks for sharing your perspective with this one Omar.
Thanks for sharing your perspective with this one Omar.
i appreciate how funny he is, makes watching these reviews even more enjoyable. and also i think the regular xse v6 would be a better decision. you’re still getting the power but you’re getting more conveniences: pano sunroof, 9 incher, nicer seats (especially in the cockpit red color)🥵, bigger digital dashboard and rear ac, etc.
Thanks for letting me share the laughs and the cars with you! I agree about the XSE.
10:28 you actually CAN get the 9-inch infotainment on the TRD. It's a $1,585 option (it adds the JBL sound system as well. you're not just getting 2 extra inches of screen lol)
Thanks for sharing that great info!
@@RaitisRides definitely !
I already brought the car, can I get that added on?
Mine has JBL and fog lights.
I love the syling of the TRD but I wish it had just a little bit more performance. Shout out to Lori!
Thanks for showing Lori some love!
Agreed! The TRD looks so good and looks even better in person but it needs a bump in torque.
I mean this car is not supposed to be that fast. Its a midsize vehicle. If you want torque and speed then get the Supra.
Or at least a better tuned transmission. That’s where it’s main downfall is at.

@J Kav prayers for you and your recovery!
Just bought a 2022 TRD and had all windows tinted 20%. It looks awesome! After some LED accented after market headlights and tail lights it will be right on point. The K5 Kia is an awesome car too , but my Camry with markups was only 38k vs. 41k for the K5 GTs in my area. Great reviews on cars some of us can afford👍
That is really cool! You got it man!
Did you get white or black
Got mine May of last year. It has some real shortcomings compared to the competition. And made up for all of them with a naturally aspirated engine and no stuck on infotainment screen. The exhaust sound is a nice bonus. That could be added to any of the others, but it will make them more expensive.
Thanks for sharing that great input from your ownership!
I have to disagree, Toyota could have delivered better for TRD, it’s anticlimactic
Great job on the review. One thing to point out. The rear seats in the TRD model do NOT fold down. Not a big deal for me. But just thought some people might care. All the other Camry back seats fold down. The TRD model has additional Bracing behind the back seats for better handling. So they didn’t make the back seats folding because if they did then the bracing would be in the way anyways.
I was told by Toyota dealership my TRD has a "role bar", (Racing Development package )and that's why the seats don't fold down?
Good old Camry! Thanks for the review as always!👑

he does a variety of cars for those who make under $50k or in between $50k - $100k and he does a damn good job at reviewing the cars
I live in Lakewood CO and the dealerships here haven’t had a TRD Camry for months and I wanted to test drive one
They are hard to find.

Honda fanboy here, Honda Accord Sport FTW!
That Accord 2.0T is bad ass, full stop.
Nice call!
So true!
Yes the 2.0T Accord is the boss, the Camry TRD kinda cool looking also.
First, a correction at 17:00. TRD seat DOES NOT fold down because they installed chassis cross bracing in there.
However, I got it because a solid engine, the chassis is great, and non turbo so should just really last.
I would love to see this with 350hp, but it might increase the price. I’ve always loved the trd, I hope the new Camry 2022 redesign listens to you!
I like the way that you think!
just add a few more floor mats and you'll have 350hp
REMEMBER THAT BALANCE AND HANDLING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE PERFORMANCE !

So many detail they missed on man i was so close to chowing this I wish it had a key start would have made me pulled the trigger man Ima keep looking
Seriously Toyota never disappoints
Right now not a single car in their line up is boring they have a hatchback version of the Corolla not to forget the Supra and the GT 86 that they have in agreement with Subaru and it’s just amazing honestly
2020 Corolla Le I rented last week has a very nice zip...good throttle.
Thanks for letting me share this one with you!
8:33 wow that sounds awesome
TRD cat-back exhaust makes a big improvement.
Do the rear seats fold down in the TRD camry? I don't think they do as Toyota put an x brace in the back to stiffen the suspension.
No they do not.
I wish these came in manual transmissions, I have a 2017 Toyota Corolla with a 6 speed manual and it’s amazing just imagine that manual transmission in this beast
Now we are talking!
Joe Raiti - Automotive Reviewer and Comedian. I'm sure Lori rolls her eyes behind the camera :)
Joe, We need a book full of all your innuendos and jokes 🤣
Great Solid Review, I love this car, hopefully I can buy one in the future.
I'd rather have the "normal" top trim Camry as a daily driver over this TRD lol, its really just more black plastic compared to actual sport cars in my honest opinion. Great review as always, made sure to let us know the bug is not included haha
I know how you feel!
I just drove both models. The TRD is substantially more planted then an XSE--the body roll in high speed sweepers is actually flat--not quite as good as my 2020 AWD Stinger GT--but seems better and less twitchy then a Type R Civic. The TRD also feels even mor stable at very high HWY speeds then the already good XSE.It is a good balance ebtween sport and comfort and is more comfortable as a cruiser then my stinger--even though I have not scraped anything--my Stinger sits pretty low.
@@khronin so which is better? the TRD or XSE V6?
@@mhmyuhh XSE v6 is more of a feature-packed sporty sedan, but the TRD is a sport-FOCUSED sedan. also the price is quite different between the two, so it’s up to your budget to decide.
Drove both XSE V6 and TRD, yes it has the same performance but you do notice the difference in handling and stopping power. I went with the TRD since I didn’t care too much for the sunroof, heated seats, leather and heads up display. Not to mention that you don’t really see too many TRDs out on the road, you see a lot of SEs, LEs and XSEs.
You nailed this review. Very great job. Thank you so much.
TRD does give more in terms of esthetics and HP, but I would still pick an Accord over this one
Good call!
Joe you are a f-ing genius. I’ve been wondering about this question.
Thanks Tristan!
For $33k that is a lot of car. The Kia Stinger GT-Line is one competitor that should also be considered. It definitely has a more expensive MSRP but it also has more performance.
The AWD Stinger GT-Line tops out at $41k but there are good discounts on them that make it more reasonable.
You are so very right!
I bought a 2017 se Camry and it does pretty good, this thing checks all the boxes except or being a true manual.
GR needs to get a hold of this and give it 450hp. Make it actually worth it.
I totally agree with you!
"Put em in a headlock, and use them as a armrest" I'm done 🤣😂🤣
Imagine if this had a Naturally-Aspirated V8. But that is not the point. Yo, This car is amazing. How it looks, the body lines, etc. I admire this thing.
Oh yeah!
They should have a Xse version for that one too. Or like red leather interior! They should also like add a v8 into that beast. But overall it’s a really nice car
Would have been nice but I think it would have priced them much higher.

Good review Joe! I think they did a nice job on styling and suspension and thank goodness for giving the sport package a really sporty engine instead of a wheezy turbo 4. I'd consider one🤓👍

Great video. I own a xse it’s a little more expensive but it has better features than the TRD and have the same performance. I think Toyota should it install a turbo to increase the HP.
@@EpicDrew15 yes it’s true. But I think if they are going to do a TRD car, they should do something better or include some of the features of the XSE.

I would take a serious look at it. I'm still favoring the Accord Sport 2.0 turbo. Decisions, decisions; which is better, the Honda, this Toyota, or the plethora of other competitors in this nutso segment? For power delivery, I personally prefer the smooth, linearity of the Toyota. But, I like the overall of the Honda. The colour of both, is exquisite.

Never reacted so much to a video TITLE before lol! Camry and Sport Sedan were never words I would have put together.
I agree with most of Raiti's critiques on the car. It's very like Toyota to come up with a sportier version of one of their cars but omit equipment that would be standard in other brands. And to have a rather bland interior. Which is why they usually aren't on my list of prospect cars whenever I change mine. The Camry TRD might be a step up from their usual cars, but Toyota cars in general are still, to me, rather boring cars (with a few exceptions). And I doubt that's about to change. They are still the best choice if the most important for you is reliability, but I personally prefer something that's going to be a little less reliable but fun to drive.
