Gone are the days when Baguio was beautiful. The 80s up to the early 90s was probably the last hurrah of this great mountain resort.

I love Baguio city but comparing Baguio now .. I could say that I like it better during the 60s - late 80s because it was way cooler and healthier. Not so congested . I was born and raised in Benguet . I was in Baguio last summer 2023 and oooooh men ! Too congested now and the breeze is different now .
Please conserve the pine trees .
    Respect and love the Nature🙏✌️

I love baguio before with so many pine trees. I smelled the pine needles so far away. I still love the city that we renovated my mother’s house on top of the hill. It is really a nice area when the fog rolls in the afternoon. i just drive around the city with Hyundai van. I will be 70 yrs old and I don’t feel old. I’m swimming whenever I can at my beach house in Zambales. Yes, 21:41 I love the beach, too. So now. We are currently staying at our house in Decatur, Alabama. i miss the mountains and the. beach and sunsets.

Only unforgettable wonderful memories I have of Baguio!!!! My 1st was in 1994 for my officership field trip with BPI, 2nd was 1992 with 3 families and stayed at BPI’s Baguio branch close to burham park (best time ever!!!!) and 3rd time when I came back to visit from LA with my own family and sister, mom and dad. This time we rented a house owned by the Tesoro’s and each morning at 6am, we hear the nuns’ singing and praying. It was all so beautiful 🥰🥰🥰

I visited Baguio 30 + yrs ago. From all the u tube video and what friends are saying. This place had terribly gone down with so much congestion and over population. I dont need to go back but i will keep the old Baguio clean and with provincial feel in my memories.

Was in Baguio last November 2023. Short (3days) but memorable stay at the Baguio Country Club courtesy of my niece and husband. We were also chaufered around old but not recognizable familiar places. As a child we spent many summers at Teachers' Camp, Camp John Hay, Burnham Park, etc.

I love my country where I was born and raised. On my last vacation way back in 2016, BAGUIO is different from 30 yrs. ago, crowded, too much traffic, peddlers everywhere and the weather is getting warmer. Have a lot of memories of the old BAGUIO 70's and 80's esp. at Camp John Hay. Nowadays, I don't even want to visit again.

I totally agree. I brought my wife there in 2020 despite negative feedbacks from her niece, when she has never had a chance to go visit Baguio her entire life up to the point I brought her to the US. Her niece told her that it is no longer that nice in Baguio, and I told her that if she would've given her any hint that we will take them with us at no cost to them, their opinion would've changed. I come home to visit the homeland to relax and give my wife a chance to see places that she never had a chance to see and for me to visit places I went to while deployed to the Western Pacific and the Indian Ocean while I was on active duty in the navy, and not to pamper relatives. We all worked too hard during our working years, and now, trying to enjoy what we deserve.

I am from BaguioCity, it’s different from 60-70 years ago… hardly any peddlers down and up Session road, as kids we used to run up hill to see movie at Session theatre without bumping into people. Go to Camp John Hay for a treat of American cheese burger and fries or hot dog. At the gate, American and Philippine guards check incoming vehicles and passengers going inside the base ( it used to be American Recreational base for American service personnel and dependents (families)
Filipino military and locals are also welcome as long as they have passes or sponsorships. Always looking forward to go to the PX for some groceries and treats (chocolates) when my dad comes home from overseas…
So different now… very congested, hard to get parking space, tourists explosion ( good for economy and trade) not bad…

Thank you for visiting Baguio V-grandpa! I think a good pair of sneakers would have been helpful for the trekking up and down the steps. It’s awesome that you were able to walk all those places. Yes, definitely Camp John Hay ambience would have been a different experience specially taxis are inexpensive and the drivers are honest.

Most of the places you went in Baguio are to my opinion tourist traps. To be fair, the Mansion house, Burnham Park and Wright Park are beautiful historical places and you cannot go wrong with that. As born and raised in Baguio, there are so many more worthwhile places you should try to go next time like Bencab Museum, Club John Hay where you can have fine dining in The Manor, walk along PMA and learn about the academy while appreciating the manicured gardens, and a lot more❤

Just subscribed. My wife and I feel for you ( and your legs😄). At 69, we thought we could tackle a pilgrimage tour of Italy last year. Instead I ended up buying a folding cane to support myself. We said we will refrain from taking pilgrimages as a lot of walking uphill and downhill in Italy just like in Baguio.
We prefer the relaxed way of travel.
    Keep doing what you’re doing.👍🏼

I went to Baguio in 1997 with my then girlfriend (now my wife of 24 years). She wanted to go horse riding. I wasn't keen because I'd never ridden a horse before. However, I enjoyed it so much we did it again the following day. That was enough though. We were so sore (in some very delicate places) we could barely walk or sit down comfortably.

Balikbayans and seniors are better off staying at the Manor or Forest Lodge inside Camp John Hay.
And if you happen to be connected, then Baguio Country Club is No.1 in Baguio City.
Those 3 places have the old Baguio feeling. Pine trees all around, nice scent, clean and quiet.
You can golf or even just walk around with hardly anyone around except you and your group.
Then restaurants that are better than most are found along Outlook Drive which is close by.
    Ans so it the church.

Wala po na - mention na negative ang uploader. Because of their age lang po hirap sila lumakad sa Baguio. Hindi naman po kasi sila sanay dyan. And dahil din sa age nila gusto rin nila mag explore sa ibang lugar. Na read ko ito sa replies nila sa ibang comment.

Thank you for sharing your trip to Baguio! I have many fond memories as a kid in the late 60s when my Mom and Dad would take our family to see Baguio. I remember the abundance of jars of strawberry jelly, taking a boat ride in Burnham Park, and being scared and thrilled about riding a horse, but am not sure if that was also at the Park. I also remember the water being cloudy from out of the faucet but then eventually cleared up. My last trip there was in my early 70s when I went on a Boy Scout camping trip but we stayed in lodges and remember being so cold at night. :) Great memories for sure!
