    Lyrics
    Yeah
I know sometimes things may not
Always make sense to you right now
But hey, what daddy always tell you?
    Straighten up little soldier
    Stiffen up that upper lip
    What you crying about?
    You got me
Hailie, I know you miss your mom
And I know you miss your dad when I'm gone
But I'm trying to give you the life that I never had
    I can see you're sad
    Even when you smile
    Even when you laugh
I can see it in your eyes
    Deep inside, you wanna cry
    'Cause you're scared
    I ain't there?
Daddy's with you in your prayers
    No more crying
    Wipe them tears
    Daddy's here
    No more nightmares
We gonna pull together through it
    We gon' do it
    Lainie, uncle's crazy ain't he?
Yeah, but he loves you girl and you better know it
We're all we got in this world
    When it spins
    When it swirls
    When it whirls
    When it twirls
    Two little beautiful girls
    Looking puzzled, in a daze
    I know it's confusing you
    Daddy's always on the move
    Mama's always on the news
I try to keep you sheltered from it
But somehow it seems, the harder that I try to do that
The more it backfires on me
    All the things, growing up
As daddy that he had to see
Daddy don't want you to see
But you see just as much as he did
We did not plan it to be this way
    Your mother and me
But things have got so bad between us
I don't see us ever being together ever again
Like we used to be when was teenagers
    But then of course
Everything always happens for a reason
I guess it was never meant to be
    But it's just something
    We have no control over
    And that's what destiny is
    But no more worries
Rest your head and go to sleep
Maybe one day we'll wake up
And this will all just be a dream
Now hush little baby don't you cry
    Everything's gonna be alright
Stiffen that upper lip up little lady
I told ya, daddy's here to hold ya
    Through the night
I know mommy's not here right now and we don't know why
We fear how we feel inside
It may seem a little crazy, pretty baby
But I promise, Momma's gon' be alright
    It's funny
I remember back one year when daddy had no money
Mommy wrapped the Christmas presents up
And stuck 'em under the tree
And said some of them were from me
    'Cause daddy couldn't buy 'em
    I'll never forget that Christmas
I sat up the whole night cryin'

The Em haters, will never understand the bond that he's created with his fan base by always putting everything he's ever been thru in life on his records . Warts & all, and there has been many warts. .
Obviously, he's 1 of if not the best when it comes to all the technical skills that goes into be a great MC. I was already a huge hip hop head when he hit the scene when I was 21 in 99'
My top 5 list reflects that with Em, Cube, Scarface, Nas & Wutang (My list & Wu will always have a spot. Lol)
But, he's also been thru so much ish in his life that so many different people can relate to him for different reasons.
People, can & do, use his overcoming things for motivation to get them thru the dark times they were/are going thru.
Another fire reaction, keep on grinding. ✌️

I know your dad got you started and I'm glad he did because it is showing you appreciation of content, lyricism, doubles, etc. You can still appreciate the bop stuff, nothing wrong with that. This song always brings a tear to my eyes. As a father who gave up his 20s to have a family, only to have it ripped apart by my ex. The deployments, the long hours, the time away from kids just to provide for them only to be stuck still being the same caring parent. Only now, it’s fighting the system to live on so little of the money I make, the nearly 1000 miles driving a week just to work and see my kids. Being the better parent and having my own daughter want to live with me because even she knows how much better she has it with me. It’s a wonder so many fathers have issues. It’s the constant fight having to be there for their kids, while having the world stacked against them. Never give up, because it only hurts the ones we care most about. The kids who need a caring father in their life.

You mentioned the progression from When I’m Gone to this, but this is actually older. So his relationship he mentioned with Kim got better (they’re good friends now iirc)

I love your breakdown of this stuff! I've always loved Eminem, but I really appreciate the way you break his shit down. I haven't been in the same situation as he has, but I feel such a deep connection to it and you really fixated on the important aspects of his lyrics. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!! I hope you're doing well :)

Hey man, this was a really good reaction. You were definitely engaged and immersed in the lyrics and did most of the talking at the end but enough during to let us know that you knew what was going on in the song. 10/10 reaction, my guy. New sub.

Love love LOVE seeing your reactions! You're very perceptive. Thoroughly enjoying your Eminem exploration, but when you're ready to dive back into rock/metal, can I suggest you check out Strapping Young Lad? All Hail The New Flesh, In The Rainy Season or Detox in particular would be great songs to start with. Peace, and keep up the great work! 🎸✌️

One bit that hit me now, years after hearing this track, was the whole "mum put Christmas presents under the tree and said they were from Dad" thing.. ive been a single mum of an 8 year old & just turned 4 year old, on and off for years (we were together for 11 years, friends & flirts for 7 years before that, so he been my dude for 18 years) Last christmas & our sons birthday (2 weeks ago), when I asked him what he got, what kinda party is he doing etc, I was soooooo angry with the lack of response. Like he didn't care. I never stopped to think he feels like crap coz he can't be there or give them the same special day as he could when we were together.
It's hard being a single mum, after thinking you have the forever family for so many years. But I guess my hurt and anger overlooked how hard it would be to become a single Dad that only sees his kids once a fortnight after living with them for most of their life.
Thanks Marshall. You the real O.G

Up tell now. Every time I've heard it. It makes me teary. Because you can feel that Em's telling the truth on how He strives to go up for His family. And even though He won it, He still humbled himself.
God says Blessed are those Humble ones before me.

I think he did feel like it was his fault. His fame took a big toll on them! It's a lot for anyone to take! They tried...but they both dealt with in a bad way. If you haven't listened to "Bad Husband"....listen to it! Eminem explains how things went...why it just didn't work for them!
