This movie just popped up on UA-cam. I thought what the heck I’ll watch it. I cried like a baby. What a touching story. As we age, it’s difficult to realize that our children have their own lives as we did. I’m coming to grips with that myself in my 70s. This movie was exactly what I needed. Maybe it wasn’t an accident.

I absolutely Loved this movie!
I am also getting up in age, in my 60s and my children are all grown and even some of my grandchildren are grown now and it’s just as you say realizing that they have their own lives. It was such a good movie, but so bittersweet, and I cried as well Thank you for sharing. God bless you may you live a long healthy ,peaceful, blessed life🙏🏽🥰

I watched this about ten years ago.. I absolutely loved the movie! But not long after watching this ..I lost my husband to cancer.. not long after that, my oldest daughter and my son in law and grand daughter of 2 years moved 2,000 miles away and not long after that.. my youngest left for college and then graduate school and now is now about one month from becoming a negotiator for our country and now I find that in a strange twist.. I am exactly as Mrs Palfrey is.. my children all have busy lives and I am all alone. I am very happy they are doing very well. But it is so lonely.

This is a wonderful film. The acting and plot are superb. Very moving in fact. The novel by Elizabeth Taylor is worth reading. ❤
