Oh. Oh. My 105 year old grandmother has a painting even darker than this, that is I believe a portrait of an ancestor. I'm 53, and I remember this painting being brighter in my childhood - I would love to be able to get that painting cleaned while she's still here - she still has great eyesight. I doubt I can afford this process now or ever, but maybe someone can, some day....this is so amazing to watch.
19:48 "I skip through all the tacking because you've seen it all before," he casually says, like tacks being driving through a canvas lining into a stretcher isn't some of the most supreme ASMR I can get my eyes and ears on in this day and age.
It is touching to see this painting brought back to life as a Hungarian myself. It is very interesting that he was surrounded by other great artists, one of them being Bertalan Székely, his teacher, yet all of them developed a very distinct and different style and theme. I think it is a great painting
I would absolutely hang a painting like that on my wall! It's so raw and honest in its emotion. I feel it.
Heebie-Jeebies....the eyes! Oof! It is a spooky painting. You're very witty as well as being the most awesome stretcher restorer and painting restorer to conserve the integrity of the artist and period of when it was originally painted. The process is fascinating to watch. Thank you as always. Xx
Saw a Wild Kit appear in the background during the end of the varnishing
