I kinda went for the overall "representation" of these characters when replacing them, like Twilight being Sonic cuz She's the main Character of MLP:FIM, Discord is Eggman cuz both of them are(or were) the Main Villains of their respective Franchises etc.
I like to interpret this cover as sort of a story where Twilight gets corrupted (in this case by the Glitch) and somehow Discord manages to save himself He would be; or wanting to defeat the glitch, or like people theorize from the original song, mocking the affected Mane Six (especially Twilight) for not being able to defeat BF

The main character being Twilight makes sense cause she is the main character of MLP:FIM just like how Sonic is the main character of Sonic the Hedgehog. All the STH characters I replaced with MLP characters have something in common when it comes to their overall representation in their respective Franchises, so I wanted to choose that way.
