Your reactions are always so much fun. Thank you! Simone's white dress is a homage to Kate Bush's from her 1978 music video Wuthering Heights, also recorded at De Efteling at the predecessor to the new attraction. Also the Epica tombstone.
Now THIS is how you should use symphonic elements to make an epic song (or in this case, to make a version of a classic piece). Amazing in so many ways.
Epica was asked to redo the already existing musical piece Danse Macabre by Efteling for the haunted dark ride also called Danse Macabre. Epica just added The Ghost In Me title to the already existing Danse Macabre musical pièce. The dark ride Danse Macabre is a run down creepy abbey and has a newly invented motion system that no other themepark in the world has. The dark ride Danse Macabre cost 35 million euro's to build and at the opening the waiting line was 4 hours. The story of Dance Macabre is that a choir that performed at the abby disappeared one by one. They fell in hands of the unname-able a spooky entity that is represented as a cat with 2 different eye colours. That is why the singer was wearing coloured contact lenses. Efteling is one of the oldest themeparks in the world. It opened in 1952, 3 years later Disney in 1955 Disney opened it's first park. Efteling is the second most visited themepark in Europe and Americans who visited Efteling have called it the darker version of Disney because Efteling doesnt sugarcoat the original fairytales. By the way lots of adults from the Netherlands and from other countries visit the Efteling on a regular basis without children.
We've been at the Efteling once! The park is amazing, easily best theme park I've ever seen, and I agree with the "Dark Disney" description. Getting immersed in the whole storytelling atmosphere was a great part of it, not the just the crazy rides. I have to go again to try the Danse Macabre as well! I love the detail about the colored contact lenses. /Andrei
A couple of thoughts: - I'm surprised you are so late to this song! - This is no original Epica song, but Epica's adaptation of "Dance macabre", a piece written in 1874 by Camille Saint-Saëns - there is also an official live video of this song taken from the Symphonic Synergy show - Don't for get to react to Arcana, this time an original Epica song. You even have 3 official videos to chose form, the official music video, the official live version and the official lyrics video (which is actually much more than just a lyrics video) - I had the priviledge to see both songs life in Amsterdam 2 months ago!
We weren't that late to record it but we keep having trouble fitting everything in the release schedule in a timely manner. That's our problem with all our videos lately. We didn't know it was a cover. That's really cool. I've seen the Symphonic Synergy videos released so far. I even considered going to the show when it happened but couldn't make it in the end. I'm sure it must've been amazing seeing this stuff live! /Andrei
Great reaction to this wonderful song! I love this song and listened to it with the release of Arcana on spotify for 3 evenings at work in a row! Both songs are simply so extremely good but I slightly prefer Arcana. Thank you friends!
Is mijn Nederlands goed? /Andrei
I really love this song. I marvel every time I listen.
It's SO GOOD!

Yooo that is such a cool detail! Passing on the torch to the next musician and to the next attraction! /Andrei
