- In this second installment of Chancellor's Conversations, which highlight the work of CUNY faculty, Interim Chancellor Bill Kelly speaks with two of contemporary literature's most distinctive stylists. Andre Aciman of the Graduate Center is the author of seven books, including the novels Harvard Square and Eight White Nights and the acclaimed memoir Out of Egypt. Colum McCann of Hunter College is the author of eight books, including Transatlantic and Zoli; his novel Let the Great World Spin was awarded the 2009 National Book Award for Fiction.
I think I will learn more with Andre' Aciman. He is a brilliant writer and I am sure he is a good teacher.
Brings back good memories from my abortive attempt at a PhD at CUNY. Wish they had offered me a bit of money to support my studies. Anyhow, I enjoyed my time there.
Great interviewing.
Thank you! Hemingway is to writing what Bogart is to acting.
Colum erred, the book is Redeployment by Phil Klay.
omg!! i'm scandalised!! aciman doesn't like hemingway and elements of style.. :0 still respect him though... i love his style... :)
Annoyed by the person making rustle sounds behind the camera starting at 35:00
Design a flawed character and put them in an unlikely setting and the character will write the story...
Andre bey biraz daha mütevazi ama psikolojik olarak diğer iki konuşmacının vücut diline uyum sağlamaya çalışıyor.
Diğer iki konuşmacıda ciddi bir ego şişmesi var.
ALL men in grey suits...how dull...bye byw after one minute..
