The Trek and Ineos TTTs look very powerful with Vacek, Hoole, Soderqvist and Milan; and Foss, Jungels, Arensman and Castro. That said, picking as many UAE riders doesn't sound a bad bet
@OwDoCycling No problem thank you for the previews this is my first year doing this and I didn't think about the impact that the TTT would have on assist points so I switched out some of my long shots (Uriarte, Bizkarra, Pietrobon, Caicedo) for some Ineos and UAE 6 points riders.
I have 5 UAE, and was thinking if I had gone a bit OTT. Reminds me of the old days of VG when some people used to do all 9 Sky riders in Grand Tours. That Stage 4 looks interesting, I wouldn't be surprised if UAE had 2 or 3 in the days break. I got 2 6c sprinters but thinking another UAE 6c rider, might get more, with a chance of going in the break now you have broken it down. I want a Lidl Trek climber I was thinking more Geb' zabier (why did even try and start spelling his name, makes Welsh look EZPZ) as opposed to Vacek (better). In essence I agree with the strategy and saves headache as I won't be able to change my team much tomorrow. Cheers Patrick and Good Luck.
Phahhaha I love the live reaction you had to spelling the name, that made me laugh. I'm tempted to go 7 UAE now honestly, the full belt and braces approach. I agree with you, UAE will likely be in a stage 4 break too, heck, they might be trying to win every stage at this rate!
Also found it hard to pick riders primarily due to the ordering of the stages. Starting with the sprint and finishing with the TTT would have made it better for velogames purposes. I went with Almeida, Mcnulty, Rodriguez, Vacek, Ivo Oliveira, Berwick, Donaldson, Fernandez, Sobrero. Pretty much completely disregarding the sprint
My differential is Jonathan klever caicedo for 8. You completely skipped over uhlig? I would've thought he was obvious I'm also interested in theuns and Sheehan for 6
There will be lots of us going heavy on UAE, and hoping their TT bikes aren't stolen the night before... Gone Tom Portsmouth for 4, because he watched Jens Reynders go mad in the breaks at AlUla
No worries on the purchase of the wallcharts! Feels good to give something back as I take so much from your advice!
You're the best :)
Had already opted for the 7 UAE riders before seeing this. Backed up with Soderqvist and Uhlig. Probably setting the tone for the season ahead.
I agree, UAE just win a lot of races frankly so they're likely to score highly most of the time.

I will have 6 UAE riders, Theuns and Fernandez, safe aproach too...
Rumor has it the mountain stage of Besseges is under threat due to heavy rain
That's very useful, thank you. I wonder if they'll cancel the stage all together or just change the finish. I'll keep an eye out for anything.

Sometimes the boring picks are the most effective

The sprint is just a red herring meaning that we're essentially making teams to score in 3 stages rather than 5 as the TTT doesn't score much.
