      But on a serious note, we need to absolutely address our center issue forth most and I reckon the best way to do that would both draft someone and sign someone, that being draft clingan at 9 (or if we need to trade up to 6-7) and sign Andre Drummond and honestly, start Drummond and have clingan bench initially but if clingan is gone, then knecht and if Knecht happens to be gone, just trade the pick and with some other assests even to see what you can get on the market. after that you go ahead and try to trade Zaire Williams, john konchar and maybe even Kennard if you really need to help the team financially (but importantly trade Williams and konchar) which also frees up some roster spots for other players (I preferably would love to sign both Scottie pippin jr and trey Jemison to full times) but yknow, other players too. I know the situation with Marcus smart is rough but honestly, have him as your 6th man and have Vince go to the 3 which smooths things over nicely as we really didn't get to experience the team playing together which would've made them 2 picks wasted so, wait to the mid season trade deadline and see what he can do with us but not completely aganist him starting either. so if im the GM, I'm hoping for our squad being
      Starter- PG: morant, SG: bane, SF: Vince Williams, PF: Jackson jr, C: Drummond
      Bench- PG: smart, SG: Kennard, SF: GG, PF: Clarke, C: Clingan
      Reserve- PG: Pippen Jr, SG: Lavaria, SF: Stevens, PF: aldama, C: Jemison
      I know I'm dreaming big but if we could make this our squad for next year, wooooo lad I'll be cheering for days from down under. that is all, thank you for listening to my ted talk (oh yeah, adem bona/ cam spencer or ulrich chrome int he second round too)

      However I do agree with you about the second round. There is a lot of intrigue in there for teams looking for role players.

    I don’t understand why everyone is saying we will be a first apron team? As we sit, we are less than $500k into the apron, but Yutas contract is going away. So that would leave us $2 million under the apron.
    Is it because the assumption is that we won’t counter our draft picks with a trade to stay under the apron?
    Like letting Z and Laravia go as a move to free up 9.5 million? I know we’d need someone wanting them, but I imagine there is a shit load of moves like this that could keep us under the apron.
    A team with salary issues would take Zaire because he’s on his last year, so he’d be a worthwhile gamble.
    Just an example, but I just don’t see the scary financial stuff everyone is talking about with the Grizzlies. All the following contracts, that we’d maybe want to let go, are expiring soon: Z, Jake, Rose, Santi and then konchars contract is easily moveable.

    Doesnt the team receiving the free agent player through a sign and trade actually need the appropriate cap space to orchastrate a sign and trade? (In the case of Claxton and Anunoby)

    • @UtilitySports
      @UtilitySports Місяць тому

      No, not cap space. They would just have to match money in respect to the player's new contract. Ex: Claxton signs for $25M/year, Grizzlies would have to send back $20M (Kennard + Konchar)

    • @patas75
      @patas75 Місяць тому

      If a team actually has cap space then it doesn't need to do a SNT. They just sign the guy, or maybe gets paid to create a TPE for the team losing the player.

    • @patas75
      @patas75 Місяць тому

      @@UtilitySports With the apron rules we would have to send out 100% matching and remain under the apron to do a SNT.

    I know they have 'GG' Jackson, but the Grizzlies still need to add more consistent three-point shooting and a small forward with size who can defend; therefore, they should draft Dalton Knecht. Additionally, they should move on from the injury-prone Luke Kennard and acquire a veteran big man who can provide some impact.

      Eden is that traditional center type of player that may have an issue fitting into today’s NBA. Unless he gets drafted to a team that runs a half court style that has enough talent and offense to keep the offense more spread out rather than shrink it
