    You’re exactly right about the cheek pads….I have 2 of these helmets, both XL.
    The stock pads are 20 mm, just a tad loose for my face shape. I ordered one size up, 25 mm, and they’re now perfect. Easy to switch out, by the way.

    The best feature or style I really love about Arai is the actual outer shell size. It's the most compact and small outer size which feels quite like a part of ur head while wearing it.
    Other brands with the same inner size have a larger outer shell which makes them feel a bit bulky wearing them.

      @segapc1994 Рік тому +1

      be aware that with the new safety standards the shells have gotten bigger! I had a debut that was a nice small shell. my new rx-7v is the same size but the shell is larger! :( bobble head a bit

    I'm sold. Actually I ordered this exact lid for my wife when it was announced in Jan 2021. I like your graphs and videos. It makes it pretty clear. Arai used to be weak in side impacts but they've since improved (per Sharp) and they won't be able to get away with that with ECE 22.06. I imagine it was due to wanting a narrower helmet for racers who are willing to compromise.

      @Ignas2fly 2 роки тому

      Hi. I am sorry but you say about side impact and really you make a mistake as everyone makes, even sharp. In real life those test are very out of reality, because they calculate it without adding riders/helmets speed In crashes helmets dont go down only down or up, there is also a HORIZONTAL speed. That is where Arai "GLANCING OFF" or "R75" shape start to work. Also those Sharp or ece-22.06 testing speed (when helmet goes down) are just a joke. Thanks

    We have it in the shop, very good and high quality helmet which is to be expected for the price they're asking.
    The interior feels like a very comfortable couch and the materials used to make this helmet are prevelant and visible just by touching and looking at it up close.
    If one has the money to afford such helmet i would highly recommend to buy one just for the sake of protection it offers, or at least just try it.
    The styling is also a big plus, at least in my opinion, its the combination of retro and modern style with protection that other retro looking helmets can dream of.
    Peace, love.

      Any way I could purchase one from you? I'm a cyclegear employee in the states but we can't get the ECE only helmets because of BS DOT regulations.

    I love my Quantum-X (I have a round head shape) and definitely love the look of this new lid. I love their solid Diamond White, it offsets against black leather very well and provides a nice bit of contrast.
    Not that much of a fan of pinlock, but I wear glasses. I always find that even if the pinlock doesn't fog up my glasses will anyway so better to just get used to venting the helmet by lifting the visor slightly.
    Great review. Helmet looks great.

      Good to know. Having a fairly long oval head shape, I tried this Arai but it didn't feel quite right in my size. A Shoei felt like coming home, which confirms that head shape matters and varies greatly from brand to brand.
      Shame though, love the Diamond White Arai too, especially with a dark screen...

    • @JohannKwan
      @JohannKwan 3 роки тому +1

      @@jaeger4966 Definitely matters! I went Arai cause other brands don't fit right on my head! Arai does do other headshapes but they're very specific per helmet. I think the Signet-X is their long-oval one.
      I think once you find a helmet that actually feels like coming home, as you say, it's really hard to wear any other helmet, haha.

    I wonder where the current 22.05 Arai helmets scored on the 22.06 test. I’d imagine that it wasn’t far off passing, as they’ve turned the quantic out pretty quick.

    The only previous Arai that fitted my enormous noggin was the Tour X4, XL size, so wasn't expecting to be able to wear the Quantic.
    Arai only go up to an XL size, 61cm, BUT, the Quantic fits my head at 62.5cm without any adjustments to the interior cheek pads or liner. So, from my experience, I would not say the say they are "true to size".

    From my understanding this Arai Quantic (Europe verison) is the same as the Arai Contour-X (US Version). My main question though is internal fit on the head. I know the Arai Contour-X internal fit is the Intermediate oval, but is the Arai Quantic FIT the same or different?

    This comment is NOT a criticism of ARAI; it is simply a cautionary real tale. A couple of years ago a co-worker of mine bought one of these helmets. He was extremely excited and posted photos on his social media accounts. He had a mirrored blue visor screen and posted that he "psyched" to be able to ride with it. Shortly before purchasing the helmet he bought a new Suzuki GSXR. I don't recall the CCs but it was one of the super fast "crotch rockets". All of these events occurred the first of March(of the year of occurence) and during the First Week of April; he was wearing this helmet when he fatally collided with a ISP van(he hit the van and not the other way round). Certainly, the cause of death may have been trauma to other parts of his body but I know directly from one of the funeral home worked; "He was messed up..." am exact quote from that worker...So, ride with caution even with such a fabulous head protective device.

    They need to start putting in internal sun visors and stop making excuses that they compromise helmet integrity. They drill so many holes in these helmets for air flow, they can add a sun visor too. Are they actually saying they can't find a way to engineer a second visor? I have one and a almost never wear it because of the missing sun visor. And start using a breath cup instead of pinlock too. Pinlock absolutely reduces visibility. Arai is just lazy and not even bothering to keep up with existing innovation.

    • @NajidHajee
      @NajidHajee 3 роки тому +7

      The space cut out in the liner to fit an internal visor is pretty significant. You are absolutely trading safety for convenience.

    • @OakInch
      @OakInch 3 роки тому

      @@NajidHajee I disagree with their lame excuse that it is going to weaken the helmet. This is not a difficult engineering problem to add a couple millimeters of space for a visor on the inside, add a photo sensitive visor as standard, pop the visor from the sides or bottom, put the visor on the outside, or some other strategy. They just do not want to do it. There is already a square foot of open hole in the front where people look out. That is the weak spot. I think they are just lazy and want to rest on their brand. They are a 2 generations behind on basic features and it is costing them business.

    • @mojosdad68
      @mojosdad68 3 роки тому +4

      @@OakInch costing them business? Haha. Arai doesn’t need you telling them how to make their helmets. If you don’t like what they offer, but another brand. They are a premier brand and selling premier helmets built to highest standards.

    • @OakInch
      @OakInch 3 роки тому

      @@mojosdad68 That isn't really a defense for them making helmets that fog up with no sun visor. Arai does need to be told what people expect from a modern helmet, because it is costing them business.
