1st high end pallete i ever got is too faced chocolate bar. I still love it I have repurchased it. But my favorite pallete i own is the ABH Soft Glam.
I love the “Chocolate Bar”!
Love this video. I bought the Tartelette in Bloom in 2016 and between me and my mom we panned it. We bought it again and Tarte has reformulated.... FOR THE BETTER. The formula has had an upgrade and the price is down from 2016. Win-win!!!!!
I didn't start getting back into makeup until a couple of years ago when my skin started changing. I've always worn makeup but I was a one foundation, blush, powder etc.. kinda girl. I bought my first high end palette last year, Too Faced peach palette. I'm in my mid- forties. I now own multiple palettes. Is it a midlife crisis?🤷♀️ Maybe. Honestly, I've had a lot of fun rediscovering makeup. I can't tell you how much I appreciate videos like this that give insight into makeup that's fantastic. I think this type of video is underrated and not given the attention it deserves. Thank you for this awesome video. 🤗
Late to the party but totally agree with that comment, very helpful video and much appreciated 😘👍
Naked 3 is such a beautiful palette! You’re a better woman that I am...I’d still be using mine 7 years later ;) haha
Tartelette In Bloom was the first high-end palette I bought. I agree it is so wearable and easy to use. This video might’ve convinced me to pick up some palettes I’ve been holding off on. 🤔
Lexi me too! I have tartlette toasted but now I want the in bloom.. and the chocolate gold...
Maybe I'm crazy, but I still use my older palettes 🤷♀️🤷♀️
@@vlamont2968 True!
I don’t think it’s bad for you.
Me too!
Me too
Not a good palette if it cant last you a decade
I got my hands on the Tartlette In Bloom because a friend got it for Chistmas and hated it. It's probably my favorite palette I own; I wear it almost every day. Even if I'm doing a more colorful look, I still reach for it for the perfect crease shades, or just that cream is perfect for setting my lid. And the scent is to DIE for!
The Born to Run and The Sweet Peach have been my go to colors now for the summer. I think I will always love the UD Naked palette, it was one of the first high end products I bought my first year of college.
TBH, the whole ‘eeeek!! makeup expires! throw it out!!’ trend is a little bit much. I have shadows that have been perfectly fine for years and years.
If you have the palette, u s e the palette! If you’re concerned about bacteria, then spray it with some 99% isopropyl alcohol to sanitize it, let it dry, and enjoy it again. The alcohol won’t damage the shadow or change it in any way, and once it’s dry, it can’t harm you, either.
Now, mascaras and glosses ... those definitely go bad after a few months, but eye shadows? Forever!!
❣️♥️❣️
Drug Store Girl
Please spray your pallets with 70% alcohol. That’s what hospitals use.
I am an RN. The 90% evaporates too fast to properly disinfect. It will not harm your eyeshadow as well.
Luba Zak THANK YOU! I always thought 99% is better than any other % so I’ll get the 70 😎
Sweet Peach is still one of my favorite palettes!! I really do want to pick up Tartelette in Bloom. I have so many palettes but I feel like I'm missing out on it.
Can you please do a whole video on cool tones palettes? I need them so bad. I want your opinion on high end and low end ones. I want a neutral palette and would love to hear about a cool toned palette that is a bit more adventurous color wise. I would love that. Thank you so much for all of the information you give freely!
I can tell by you pointing out which colors you veer towards in the Born to Run palette that we have the same taste. This is why it is mandatory that I follow your reviews. This way I know which palettes I need to buy. Always appreciate your opinions! 🤗
Aw thank you so much Leslie! I'm so glad! ♥️😊
I agree 100% on the Urban Decay born to run.. so good!
I really enjoy the shop my stash and rediscovering old favorites videos. Thank you.
Sharman Wood we spend so much money on makeup we’re not using. Shop my stash is the best!
Great picks, Jen!
I love Lorac Unzipped and ABH Soft Glam too.
“Seven years old I’m not gonna put it on my eyes” mama your adherence to expiration dates puts me to shame. I’ll fully use something until it starts causing me pain and angst.
Haha! I thought I was going pretty far with my Lorac palette....it's from 2015 and on the back it says 12 month expiration! 😂🤣
I feel like expiration dates are mu company schemes to make us keep buying!
I think if you're pretty sanitary with your makeup collection overall, it might let you safely stretch that date a bit further. I've only had one eyeshadow I saw that was like 10 years old and I was like HONEY THIS IS A CLASSIC IT'S FINE and my eyes burned lol. So that one was in the trash. But usually if I don't feel any side effects I just assume I'm in the clear
@@jazwhoaskedforthis lol, yes I just had to toss the majority of my eyeshadow collection because It was probably 10 years old and causing my eyes to burn :(
MC1968 What would you recommend to sanitize eyeshadow?
The Lorac Unzipped is my HG palette.
My favorite pallettes are from Too Faced also. I think I rate my Colourpop collection is really good too. Lorac has my favorite neutrals.
Tartelette in Bloom was my first high end palette and still enjoy it and would replace it.
TF peach palette and Tartelette in bloom are my favorites! The best color combos.
I'm a bit late to comment on this but Tartelett in Bloom is the palette that started my high-end craze. Before that I only used drugstore palettes because I thought the quality couldn't be that different. I got Tartelette in Bloom when it was on sales and it was an eye opener. I couldn't be happier with the quality. Every shade blended like a dream and stay on all day with no fading or creasing. I started hunting for the other high-end palette and discovered a lot of great high quality eyeshadows thanks to this little palette.
Great idea for a video. I love seeing people’s favourites over time. I like when people do the shop my stash videos that showcase an older favourite.
My first palette was ABH soft glam and i still love it! 💯
Tarlette in Bloom. Mic drop....🎤⬇️ end of story. Pair it with my other classic, Personá, perfection.
I totally agree!! 🙌😍
I have to say I agree with you about the Chocolate Gold palette. My first high end palette was the Pretty Rich palette that I got for Christmas last year. Then during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty I picked up the Gold palette when it was half price. It’s gorgeous!
Just FINALLY rebought my Lorac Unzipped palette! I bought mine in 2013 or so-kept it a DISGUSTINGLY long time until I finally threw it away a few months ago.
I missed it SO much that I started looking to buy it again, and couldn’t find it! Tempted to buy one extra just in case. I haven’t found color selections like it either-they’re so rosy, mauve-y, and effortless.
Absolutely underrated!! My all time favorite for every day, all you need in one.
It's so nice to find a beauty youtuber who is genuinely beautiful (by normal real life standards and not UA-cam standards) ... and you are such an authority on eyeshadow palettes ... which are my real beauty addiction. Your reviews are so informative. Thank you 😍
Aw thank you so much for the kind words!! 🤗❤️
So nice to have a positive video about the pure love of classic makeup. After al the negativity out there, good for the soul. :) Thank you!
I don't love Tarte eye shadows, but I do love Tartelette In Bloom. It's just so pretty! I used my Sweet Peach palette today. I know a lot of people don't love the scent, but I do. It reminds me of my grandma, who used to love peach rings.
I think some of Tarte's recent eyeshadow Palettes have been hit or miss but I love the Tartelette series! 🙌
My first large palette was Coastal Scents Revealed 2. I loved it so much that when I got pinkeye from my son (thanks, daycare) and had to toss it I went on amazon and bought it again! I loved it for years. It’s recently become sort of powdery and the pigmentation is going, but even though I don’t wear it, I will never get rid of it. I don’t know that I ever had a palette I used and loved as much as that one. My makeup collection is very large now, and sometimes I think back fondly to how special that palette was to me when it was my only one.
I still love my Sweet Peach Palette. I’ve hit pan on several shades 😍
Naked 3 is to this day my favorite palette 😁 I wore it on my wedding day in 2017 and for our wedding photoshoot (few days later)
One of my favorite palette is Lorac mega pro palette. The very first one they put out. 😊💕
...i have none of those lol. i started getting into makeup mid 2016 and the first high end palette i got was the Too Faced chocolate Bon Bons. I didn't and still don't care for warm tones, and alot of rosy toned palettes look like one shade of beige on my medium skin. i don't really have a go to look, but if i had to pick one holy grail to keep, it would be the Viseart Petite Pro 1. I keep thinking I'd like to get the MR one day, but the Sultry palette is calling my name more.
Lorac Unzipped has been my #1 since I got it years ago. I even repurchased it when I thought maybe it was getting too old to keep using. I also still love the original Chocolate Bar. One thing I love about them both is that the colors go so well together you basically can't mess up a look with them.
I loved this video! We’re always chasing the newest releases, but it’s nice to revisit old favorites and fall back in love with them. Great job!
My first high end palette was the TooFaced Chocolate Bar. Then the Naked 2. I didn’t discover high end makeup or UA-cam until 2016 so I was a little late to the game, but I’ve since made up for it lol
Those two palettes changed my eye shadow game. I realized I actually look best in neutral colors and changed my entire approach to eye shadow. I still love adventurous colors. But, neutrals became my go-to. I will always love those two palettes ❤️
I still want that TF Chocolate gold palette 😍😍😍😍
You have the best selections, thanks for the way to view palettes. I'll start covering shades to help with ideas!
Yes! The only palette I have is the Peach one. It’s perfect for me. I am glad you like it too!
@beauddiction. Can you review the Tarte High Tides and Good Vibes palette??
I love, love, love the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette. It's probably my favorite. Really lovely, wearable palettes, Jen. Thanks so much. Blessings!
Thanks Lyn! I love it so much than I thought I would that's for sure! So glad I got it. 😊♥️
Such a great review of great palettes we can still rely on!
Jen, in the drier cooler months, try the BareMinerals stick foundation if you haven't yet. It's very hydrating and I think you would enjoy it. For reference, I am more of a fair neutral and I wear Birch 1.5, which is very slightly golden, but it blends out really nicely. I'll track down the WnW to compare eventually. 💋
I love when you talk about eye palettes you love! I want to own every one of them now 😆
I always love seeing people's favorite palettes. You sold me on Unzipped!🥰
Kathy Aay Beauty I love that palette but be gentle because it's fragile. But I'm so glad I bought it💗
We have very similar taste in color. My most worn pallets are Milani Most Loved Mattes and Flower Beauty's Shimmer and Shade in golden natural. I also really like Rimmel Magnif'eyes in blush edition or Keep Calm and Wear Gold.
My first high end palette was ud naked palette I was obsessed.
I love the Tartlette palettes and Lorac Pro Palettes! I had a stroke and can't use my dominant are and hand. Blending is a challenge. I think these are the best , easiest to blend for me !
Hi Tracy! I agree...those are definitely super easy to blend. ♥️🤗
I also love the first Lorac pro palette for this reason. It practically blends itself.
The first non drugstore pallet I got was the almost cult status, Lorac pallet. I really didn't quite know how to work with it enough to really do it justice as my skin is very fair and very cool. I can wear nw13 in Mac. My next pallet was the OG Too Faced Chocolate Bar, which I liked much better. It was my first understanding of cool vs warm brown tones. This pallet had enough cooler brown shades that were more complimentary to my cool undertones and I has a great time creating neutral looks that didn't make my eye area look dirty! I finally understood that I could wear brown eyeshadows and they are flattering IF they are cooler in tone! It was a revelation! It was like falling in love!
And you have further convinced me to get tartlet in Bloom, which I have been eyeing for some time 💕
I actually feel like Limecrime (Venus, then Venus XL), not Modern Renaissance, started the color trend you mentioned. (And TBH, I love the Venus formula sooo much more, plus you get way more product in the palettes and less fallout than Modern Renaissance)
I'm so excited to get the Tartelette in Bloom palette for BF! And the giant mirror!
Does anyone ever use up a palette? I like to get out my few pallets and shop my stash. When I do that, I realize that I don’t need more. I think buying singles is a good idea too. Good video.
I used to use up my singles.....but I have never even hit pan on a single shade in my palettes.
Ur daily shitpoaster Agree, makes so much sense. I think palettes are a marketing ploy.
I'm in the process of depotting most of my eyeshadow palettes. Colourpop is the easiest since putting a tissue between the pan and a magnet (I use a bag clip) lifts them right out.
I never really started using palettes until last year. For me it has always been singles. Great Video 💜
Me too, I used buy Mary kay, Avon or clinique and just get one or two shades at a time, wasn't until I got the needs pallet that I started looking into buying pallets. I have the colorpop fame and it's the only pallet that I actually use every shade so in the future I'll either go back to singles or another cool tone pallet I'm very fair so finding pallets have been a chore
I don't understand why you don't have at least 500.000 more subscribers. I feel like my best friendis is telling me about her makeup, instead of other beauty gurus making a commercial pretending it's objective info. Thank you, don't ever change.
Aw thank you so much!!🤗😘 I never want to just be selling to you guys...makeup is a passion for me and I love chatting about it. It's so not about the money for me and never will be. ♥️♥️♥️
My two HGs were the original Comfort Zone palette and a Covergirl quad called Coffee Shop. I got so many compliments every time I wore Coffee Shop.. it's super warm toned though, so I'm not surprised.
Comfort Zone is my ride or die. If I had Comfort Zone and Rose in the Air, I don't think I'd ever actually need to buy another palette.
Another great video idea, Jen, I love your content. Missing the MOTD weekly recap vids (I'm sure they're a ton of work, but they were great to watch).
I hopefully can start doing those again. I keep getting a lot of requests but for some reason they had the lowest views of any of my videos which was frustrating because they are a lot of work to out together. Hopefully once things aren't so crazy here I can do them again because I really enjoyed them!
Um... as long as the shadows are still performing use them! It ain't gonna hurt you! I still have my Lucky Penny by clinique & it's over 10yrs old & I use it occasionally when my look calls for it!
I still love naked 3! With all of the new eyeshadow palettes, this is still one of my most used in the winter when my skin is more fair. It is my favorite naked palette. Naked heat has been my second favorite naked palette, but the original and 2 are starting to work their way up to number 2. Yes, after all these years I’m liking them more and more! I’d say I like born to run number 2 of all urban decay palettes I have behind the naked 3.
I love the Too Faced Chocolate Gold! Got it at the Ulta 21 days sale. I have to use a glitter glue to keep all the beautiful glitter in place :)
Around thirty years ago my mom received a gift from her company. It was from Borghese and it looked like a Caboodles travel box. Once you opened it it had compartments filled with mini palettes of eyeshadows and blushes and even palettes of lipsticks. It was the most gorgeous thing ever. I would secretly use it (I was 14 and that was my entry into the makeup world). Those shadows and blushes were my holy grail. It was such a beautiful box with a beautiful layout and shades. As I got older I started using (and collecting) MAC single shadows. My first palette was the Gwen Stefani palette. The Peach palette immediately followed and many more after that. The addiction is real🤣.
Oh my gosh that gift your Mom got sounds amazing! My Grandma used to have the most beautiful makeup when I was a kid I used to drool over it on her vanity (and I would sneak in and swatch her lipsticks on my arm, lol).
I only bought the Chocolate Gold recently during 21 days of beauty
Thanks so much for your video content! My first high end palette was the Lorac Unzipped and haven’t used it in a quite awhile, need to rediscover it. Also love the Tartelette in Bloom palette and it gets used most often!
What a great video!! I love seeing all the old palettes! My very first palette was IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty, of which I still have but never use. Second, the Tarte Clay Matte but I gave it to my daughter. And my third palette, which I still love, is Kat Von D Shade and Light. There have been many more since then but those 3 were my initiation into the world of prestige makeup.
Love your channel Jen! Wishing you continued to success and keep up with the thoughtful content. A girl can never have enough neutral palettes.
Thank you so much Amy! 🤗💕
I loved going dwn memory lane with u! I always wanted the tarteltte in bloom palette, but nvr got it.
Could you do 3 looks video using too faced gold palette?
I would love that too!
I enjoyed watching the mix of old and updated version of holy grails. Reminds me to go back to my older palettes, too :)
Nice review of your fav palettes i own 5 of them which i love them too
Those Lorac palettes are the best. Such a good formula. I have makeup disinfectant spray, could you buy that and spray it on your shadows? I bought it at IMATS not sure if it really works...🤷🏻♀️
I had to really think back to when my high end palette addiction started lol, but it was with the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani collab palette. I loved that it too was mostly neutrals with a couple color pops. Even though I haven't used it for a long time, I refuse to declutter it because it's just so pretty!
I still regret not getting that one!!! But I wanted the whole set blush and the lipsticks included but didn't have the money at the time
@@stacyketner I definitely regret not getting the blush palette because it had some great shades. The lipstick shades were actually made permanent when they updated their vice lipstick line so if you still want to get them you can! 714 is still my go to red shade ❤❤
@@angelanelson8397 thanks I'll have to look
That Collab was amazing! I still have mine and they were just beautiful, especially the blush palette!
Hi! I just had to tell you that I find your channel sooo inspiring and amazing! Each and every video is consisted, professional and interesting !! Gotta hold on to your channel I love your work 🙌🏻🙌🏻😍😍😍😍
I ADORE my Naked 3!!
Loved this video, Jen! My original palette for the longest time was the Urban Decay Naked (1) palette. Glad to hear the Born to Run is a good palette as I just picked that up from Macy's last week during their F&F sale for $25. Would love to hear more favorite cool-toned palettes you enjoy.
I did one of these Friday Fives a few months ago on my top cool toned palettes. 😊♥️
Too faced sweet peach and the original chocolate bar are still my top two favorite palettes of all! The clover palette is right up there too. If I could only keep one brand of eyeshadow palettes, it’d be too faced. My urban decay palettes are second. Sweet peach, chocolate bar and clover are top 3, and UD naked 3, born to run, naked 2 and 1 are my top 7 palettes. And they’re my oldest!
Naked 3 was the first larger eyeshadow palette I got, then the Kat Von D Shade & Light. I loved the Tartelette Toasted except the mattes dried out after a few months. I wish I like the ABH formula (Soft Glam got returned). My two favorite Hugh end palettes are the Too Faced Life's a Festival and Just Peachy Mattes, so maybe I'll try the Chocolate Gold when some of my other palettes expire.
Wow! You’re posing a very difficult question, Jen.
If my mind doesn’t fail me, I believe my first palettes were TheBalm’s Bon Voyage and Urban Decay’s Book of Shadows vol. 4.
It’s been so long! 😆
Hi Jen! I love these videos on Friday! Have you compared the Hourglass mascara to the Makeup Revolution Mascara? I’ve heard a few people compare the two. Would love to hear your thoughts on them!🌺🌺🌺
Hi Tracy! No I haven't but for me they don't seem similar at all. 😊 I compared it to the new Too Faced one in a recent video because they have very similar hourglass-shaped brushes and somewhat clumpy formulas but the hourglass one has a cone shaped brush and isn't clumpy at all. 😊♥️
This week I used an eyeshadow palette that is over 10 years old and it was fine. Just spray alcohol on it or wipe off the top layer.
Hi, thanks for the video. Don’t feel the same way about the Milani blur stick. It did nothing for me. Thought it was a waste of $. My first high end palette was Norvina. Loved it so much that I had to get Soft Glam.
I've been wearing my sweet peach palette lately. I love the purples and the shimmers. Will you continue doing the MOTW videos?
I definitely want to at some point! They got the lowest views of any of my videos which made me feel like maybe people didn't like them but since I stopped I've been getting a ton of requests for it so once we're back from vacation in a few weeks I might pick them back up again. 😊♥️
I was too broke to get the big naked palette, so I had the mini. Totally hit pan on that. The first big palette I bought was the born to run and its still a favorite!
It’s funny how I just got the Tartlet in Bloom not too long ago - I’m late to the party, and since there are SO MANY palettes, I wait to see what stands the test of time. I also really like the original Tartlet - the perfect transition colors and i can’t wear warm like the Toasted one. Have you done a “not worth the hype” palettes? The Sultry is half off on Macy’s but I don’t need it, so I need you to talk me out of it 👍
Haha that's an awesome idea actually! I don't use Sultry all that much to be honest!
Oh yeah I forgot about the modern Renaissance palette! That one definitely is in my top 10 too!
We must have really similar skin, too. I couldn't wear the Photofocus liquid foundation, either. I could, however, wear the Makeup Revolution stick foundation and I almost never wear stick foundations. They usually don't work with my skin. So I wonder if the Photofocus stick foundation will work for me. Now I need to go see. Ugh.
It might! I like it even better than the Makeup Revolution one and that one wasnt too bad on my skin either. 😊
I’m like you my first high end palette was naked 2 then I bought naked 3 and then I bought naked 1 (original) lol I did it backwards, but I’m so glad I bought the naked original palette because I still love so so much. I also have to disagree a little because I still love love love the ABH Modern Renaissance palette it’s still my holy grail I even used it for my fall wedding a year ago 😍😍😍
I love your video! my favourites are UD's Born to run and Huda's Smokey obsessions =) could you also record your top 5 or 10 foundation?
Sure! That's a great idea!
Hi Jen! Love your videos, i always watch them when i do my makeup in the morning. I have a suggestion for your next Friday 5s, I'm currently searching for face palettes and the options are so overwhelming. It would be nice if you help out. Thanks!
Love your videos 💖 Would love a video on toned down looks with colourful palettes. Trying to not buy any more neutral palettes but have no idea how to work with colourful ones 😁
Sure! I can definitely do more! If you haven't seen my video on 3 looks with the Riviera palette you can check it out here...ua-cam.com/video/P5QNifWWLs8/v-deo.html it's a pretty bright palette but the looks I did were toned down. 😊
I feel like if one have soft glam, one can pass on lorac unzipped. Soft glam has those rosy and brownish tones in unzipped and more. Wanted to try unzipped so much, but now I'm thinking of getting soft glam for my next plurge 🤔
I’m still in love with my modern renaissance, but I also want the Norvina one so bad 😅 From Too Faced I only have the chocolate bar, and keep it for sentimental reasons (my wedding eyeshadow palette). I like it but most of the times I reach for other ones. The chocolate gold looks stunning.
What nail polish are you wearing? It kept catching my eye all throughout the video!
Thank you! It's Ciate London Fly Away with Purple Rain on top. 😊
I have a few that u have and I love them all!! Tfs!
I think I NEED to get the Tarte palette.
Fully enjoyed this vid, thank you, 💚💙💚
TF sweet peach was my first ever eyeshadow palette. But sadly I lost the palette after less than a year 😭😭😭 ohh I'm so gonna get the Tarte Bloom palette soon 😍😍😍
I just bought this😍 could you do a tutorial The born to run pallet. It was 50%off. My first high end pallet
I like a neutral color scheme for eyeshadow palette but, I don't feel the need for more then 2. I live me some bright colors.
You always do great videos like these. I was wondering if that Lorac unzipped palette still available? I think it is so beautiful.
Yes it is! They have it at Ulta and also Kohl's! 😊
@@JenPhelps I got to check into that. I love it. It's a perfect everyday palette. Thank you
Hi Jen!!! I found your channel not that long ago, but I became your fan really fast! I was wondering if the unzipped palette has a dupe in colourpop, Lorac is kind of hard to find here in my country and I love all the shades. Hope that you can help me. Greetings from Mexico!
Your videos make me so happy and so inspired!
Aw thank you so much!
