I used to crochet so tightly when I first started crocheting. Starting at 4:33 is one of the best tips a beginner will ever learn. "You don't want to be chaining really tightly." :)

Watching you do these I noticed something about myself. I chain too tight. I've made 100s of projects over the last 28 years and I just now realized this. I read an article once that said if you chain tight use a full size bigger than the one for the Project. What are your thoughts? ☺
Hi Jen! YES! I chain as I do, but STILL use one size bigger for starting chains! Better too loose than too tight.😉

Great tutorials Christa!! I also hold my yarn "wonky".😉 If I may give a tip that works for me, I often do my foundation chain with a hook size larger than what I'm using for my project. Works for me!! Hope I didn't over step.💖💖🧶🧶

I am a newbie. I have been wanting to learn to crochet for a while now, but my stitches was always so tight that I would just give up on it. Well, a friend text me yesterday with your link and I have really enjoyed watching your classes.
Oh I am so glad!! Yes - chaining too tight is a thing - even try using a hook one size bigger just for making your starting chain. 😉

Hello, I have completed this class and thought that class 4 would show me how to tie a knot of finish my first single row. So I’m not sure what to do as would like to keep to track my progress. Class 3 & 4 don’t seem connect as suggested in video? But yay my first single row!!! 🌻
