"The unlikely beauty in letting you go" This song came into my recommended at the perfect time. When I had started moving on from someone whom I used to care about. When that person left, it was a Wild blue, but because of that, I found myself. I spent long and hard thinking about what I had done wrong, and what I could have done to be better, but that's me trying to change who I am, then I finally realized, that I can't change myself, but accept who I am. Truly some beautiful lyrics.
10 points, John`s songs comes straight to heart in the right time. Same thing happened for me like 6 years ago and the song was Wheel from Heavier things. I was spending my painful time in summer fields with that song in my airphones. Now is different time, but the same John.
I relate 100%. The day my girlfriend of a few years dumped me, someone I had fallen in love with, I was sitting in my car. Once I got off the phone, this song started playing on the radio and it has had a special place in my heart ever since.
@@Yamah12a ... No. A copy is either a copy, or it's not. This is NOT a copy. If that's a "rip-off", then every song is a rip-off. There are *many* things that were stolen from many different artists and songs in there, many that have nothing to do with JJ. It's funny because there are many people who comment this sort of thing - it's unoriginal, it's a copy, it's and it's that - and I'll bet you some solid money that they never released anything on their own. Because if you were to stop making music every time you though "oh this sounds too much like [insert whatever name]" you would NEVER make anything. This is way more polished than a JJ prod, the voice and guitar tone are wildly different, and he wouldn't have written that. So if that's a copy of JJ then JJ copied every folk singer and bluesman before him and so on and so forth... wait... actually that's how art is made, you look at the previous generations to build your own thing. Deal with it.
This is exactly what I thought when I heard it. The comments about John Knopfler totally work too, but, I thought GD first, maybe due to him touring with dead & co.
@@vaultusa Glad you find some Dead influences in this song too ^_^ Especially the filler at the end... reminds me of the one he did while they were fixing their mic problems before breaking into "All Along the Watchtower" (the video is on youtube :) ) To me, touring with them is still one of Mayer's best moves ever.

He's under appreciated here in Ireland, very few radio stations play him. Album has that glorious 80s feel, very like Toto, Bruce Springsteen and the MAC.
ngl, he's this generations' eric clapton with less racism. He has the guitar chops, and the music knowledge that other guitarists will learn FROM him like how other guitarists learn from their guitar heroes.
It takes an amazing musician like John to come up with a song with the bass/drum stylings of John McVie-Mick Fleetwood, the lyrical phrasing of Lindsey Buckingham, the rhythm guitar chords of Mark Knopfler, the punctuating melodic note bendings of Gerry Rafferty with the vibrato lead sound of Eric Clapton and Jerry Garcia ( combined ) into a song on the subject of dealing with loss through appreciation of our beautiful surroundings. Thanks John. You hit a home run with the album, especially with this tune.
It's good to see Johnny Depp making music. Nah just kidding. I'm happy that I stumbled upon this song yesterday. Best decision I ever made because after I listened to it the first time, I'm not going to lie, I then listened to it 10 more times in a row and lost count after that. "The unlikely beauty in letting you go"
This song came into my recommended at the perfect time.
On point sir, I’m not sorry,me too

10 points, John`s songs comes straight to heart in the right time. Same thing happened for me like 6 years ago and the song was Wheel from Heavier things. I was spending my painful time in summer fields with that song in my airphones. Now is different time, but the same John.
I relate 100%. The day my girlfriend of a few years dumped me, someone I had fallen in love with, I was sitting in my car. Once I got off the phone, this song started playing on the radio and it has had a special place in my heart ever since.
Me too. All the way man. I finally feel like I know who I am.
I just saw his live performance at NYC. It literally cured my cancer. Thanks John 🙏
❤️💙💜✌️
I was there and God bless you ..John is something special ❤
Sure…
Man.. hope the best for you
If JJ Cale and Mark Knopfler had a song baby, this would be it. Two of my favorite artists embraced wonderfully by John Mayer. Love this song so much.
JJ Cale was the first thing I thought of.
Idk it's catchy but it's just a straight Jj Cale rip off from any of his first 5 albums. Pretty unoriginal in my own opinion.
BTW, I am a massive, massive fan of JJ. My fav guitarist except Jeff Beck.
This is a certified hood classic.
*70's Dire Straits - 80's Fleetwood Mac - a combo vibe.*

''The unlikely beauty in letting you go''
Grateful Dead vibes all over. Being around these old legends made John style reach a new peak.
This is exactly what I thought when I heard it. The comments about John Knopfler totally work too, but, I thought GD first, maybe due to him touring with dead & co.
@@vaultusa Glad you find some Dead influences in this song too ^_^ Especially the filler at the end... reminds me of the one he did while they were fixing their mic problems before breaking into "All Along the Watchtower" (the video is on youtube :) )
To me, touring with them is still one of Mayer's best moves ever.
I can't believe how well he nailed the Dire Straits sound.. It's actually incredible.

Musically, this is Dire Straits and JJ Cale inspired, visually this is Peter Gabriel inspired. Great tributes to his 80’s heroes.
I see a little SRV and Prince in the video too.

I lost my wife from cancer in 2017 and John was the main person I was listening to for years starting after 2011 when she got sick… this song reflects my emotions and all the tears I cried! I’ve been riding this vibe for a while and I’m getting back to normal but that mourning is hard.. thanks John Mayer for all you do! R.I.P. my love! 💔
Kinda sorry to read you use your wife's tragic death for Internet clout.
I just can’t get over this album , specially this song ! The vibe is so right and my god this video !! The whole concept of the 80’s is so amazingly done ! And that guitar ! Mayer you are a god , not from this world !!
Definitely not from this world!
John is like the Mozart of our times, a Wunderkind!
@NadZ Hello thanks for your comment and support much love
I like how gradually John Mayer doesn’t take himself to seriously and enjoy creating at what he does best- music. And I love how corny this music video is.

This song can be prescribed as a medecine to any Mental health issue. Just listen and take deep breaths.
You can always tell when someone is there purely for the music. JM is just doing his thing and I love that
It takes an amazing musician like John to come up with a song with the bass/drum stylings of John McVie-Mick Fleetwood, the lyrical phrasing of Lindsey Buckingham, the rhythm guitar chords of Mark Knopfler, the punctuating melodic note bendings of Gerry Rafferty with the vibrato lead sound of Eric Clapton and Jerry Garcia ( combined ) into a song on the subject of dealing with loss through appreciation of our beautiful surroundings.
Thanks John. You hit a home run with the album, especially with this tune.
Now that's a rock solid comment. 😎

Spot on, my friend!
Nailed it!
This should be in description of the song itself, definition of a 100% correct comment! Kudos to you, my good sir/mam!

It's good to see Johnny Depp making music.
Nah just kidding. I'm happy that I stumbled upon this song yesterday. Best decision I ever made because after I listened to it the first time, I'm not going to lie, I then listened to it 10 more times in a row and lost count after that. Like, I did not listen to any other song that day but this song, swear to God. My new favorite song.
All jokes aside, did you know that Johnny Depp is in a band with Alice Cooper and is actually a good guitar player?
@@josiahgust As a matter of fact, I did not know that. I am a bit surprised by that. I will look more into that. Although, I have noticed many celebrities have made their own music. For instance Jeff Bridges, Robert Downey Jr., Hailee Steinfeld, and I'm sure some more. But great note though, thank you for letting me know that Johnny Depp is a part of a band and plays guitar. I never knew that.
@@josiahgust Also, I see that you make music as well or make covers, subscribed :)
The suit and the hair plus his current 80s vibes inspired tunes remind me of the late 80s/early 90s Clapton.
@Michael STEVEN KING, WOW, out of all the people, I would not have expected him to be a musical artist, but then again I haven't done much research into him. We need a chilled out version of this song kinda like the video preview! That dreamy guitar lick coming in was perfection.
Never seen the sun before
Lyin' on the ocean floor
I'm walkin' through the wilderness
And livin' off the loneliness
Oh wild blue, deeper than I ever knew
Wild blue on a bed of grey
Oh baby, what a wild blue
I found myself when I lost you
All the tears I meant to cry
Dance across the evening sky
And in my sorrow I can see
That missin' you belongs to me
Oh wild blue, deeper than I ever knew
Wild blue on a bed of grey
Oh baby, what a wild blue
I found myself when I lost you
Wild blue, deeper than I ever knew
It's a wild blue since you went away
Oh baby, what a wild blue
I found myself when I lost you
And you'll never know
The unlikely beauty in letting you go
