- The Sarmat Archery Hankyu Bow - what an amazing bow to get out and shoot. Made of bamboo and ash wood this bow delivers in so many ways. Coming in at 35lbs draw weight with a max draw length of 33 inches it moves arrows down range effortlessly. The Hankyu bow is a part of the Yumi bow family. At 71 inches total length it is still considered a short bow.
After some time shooting this bow, I have grown to appreciate how it handles and feels in the hand. If you are looking for a Yumi style bow that won't break your bank account this one is for you.
Check out sarmatarchery.com for this and other archery offerings.
Nice Hankyu! And love Mark’s thumb protectors. Wonderful video 🙂😎👍🏹
Thank you for the time and the comment. Mark did an outstanding job on the thumb protector. Have a great evening my friend. Best regards
Man it's so good to see you back! Sigman and I were talking on the phone and wondering where you and a couple other guys have been! No matter what style of archery you present in your videos they are always good and fun to watch! Glad to see ya brother & God bless ya!
Thank you my friend. It’s been a journey to say the least. Just felt lost for the longest time and struggled a bit but I am much better now. I have missed this so much and glad I found my way again. I appreciate you brother! Thank you for the comment and the view. Your support means the world to me. Have a great evening my friend. God bless!
Wonderful to see you back Scott.
That's a beautiful bow, and it sounds like it shoots arrows with authority.
Please keep us updated with your progress on learning to master that beauty.
Peace Happiness and much enjoyment with your new bow ✌️
Kindest regards, Mark
Thank you my friend, I really appreciate it. It’s a work of art to me, and I definitely want to try a real Yumi at some point. For now this one will fit the bill nicely. I was surprised by how well it put the arrows to the target. I think once I get the proper form down it will perform even better. I really appreciate the comment and the support! Have a great evening. Best regards
It's good to see you back. 🏹
Thank you my friend. It’s been a long time and I feel I am getting back to normal. I appreciate the comment my friend. Best regards
If I’m honest I’m not a huge fan of asiatic style archery, but I do very much enjoy your videos regardless of what bow you happen to be shooting, it’s definitely good to see you back on the screen, looking forward to the next one already.
All the best, Steve
Thank you so much my friend. I appreciate that very much! I’ve missed being out doing what I love to do. More to come in the. I’m in a much better place now and ready to get back at it. Thank you again! Have a great evening. Best regards to you.
Good to see you back Scott. That's a really nice bow and, yet, sort of an odd creature to the western eye. I guess its asymmetrical design makes location of the knocking point really important. The sliding knock on your string in order to determine the best spot was a good idea. Thanks for the video.
Thank you my friend. It’s good to be back doing what I love. It is an odd sight to see but the way it shoots is amazing. The nock makes the difference on it for sure. I finally have it where I think it performs well. It’s been on my wish list of bows. I swear by moveable string nocks. It really helps. I appreciate your time my friend! Have a great evening. Best regards
Great to have you back Scott. Thank you for this great review of the Hankyu bow. Looks like a good addition.
I’m very glad you are enjoying my thumb shooting aid design as well. Hope all is well with you my Friend.
Thank you my friend. I am really enjoying this bow. It is good to be back doing what I love.
I have had a few questions about the thumb protector. Some have asked me if you are making these for the purpose of selling to others. I do not know how to respond.
As always, I appreciate your time my friend. Have a great evening. Best regards
good to see you again Scott! That is a very pretty bow. I'm full Asiatic these days too - I just enjoy the shooting experience more. I've been working on 2 fletch arrows based on your inspiration a few months ago and they are amazing. SO fast at 10 to 11 gpp. Just ordered a new Alibow long siyah which is also semi asymetric and I'm excited to get that in my hands asap.
Thank you my friend. That awesome that you are using two fletch arrows. I love them so much that I wouldn’t consider fletching any other way. Let me know how that new bow works out for you, I definitely would like to know. I appreciate your time and the comment. Have a great evening. Best regards
Good to have you back brother, nice looking bow, your bow rack must be pretty crowded now😅
Thank you my friend. Yes sir the bow rack is in need of an upgrade. I’m enjoying this one a lot. Once I get the arrows for this sorted it will be a lot better. Thank you so much for the time and the comment. Have a great evening. Best regards
Awesome video. What a cool bow. I expected you to say it was like $700+.
Thank you my friend. It’s is a great bow. I’m glad it’s not 700 plus or I would still be dreaming of owning one. I really appreciate your time and the comment. Have a great evening. Best regards
Hey great to see you it’s been a minute. That’s funny Joe and I you’re just talking about you and some other guys who have not been on for a bit. That’s a really nice bow and thumb guard. I’m sure it definitely would take a while to get used to shooting that bow for sure,
Good to see you back Take care and God bless.
Thank you my friend. It felt good to be out doing what I love again. I’ve been on an odd journey as of late. I’ve missed it but making my way back now. Thank you for the compliment on the bow. I’ve wanted one for a while now. I am grateful to have the opportunity to own one. I will keep everyone updated on the progress.
Thanks again my friend. Have a great evening. Best regards.
@@ScottWinters You are very welcome. And I’m sure glad to hear you’re doing better, I’m always here if
You ever need to talk. God bless my friend.
Hi Scott, really great seeing you again. That's a very nice bow by the way.
Hey Jackie, thanks for the comment. Feels good to be back. Been down a long road lately. Looking forward to adding more content.
Really enjoying this one. I appreciate the comment and hope all is well with you. Have a great evening. Best regards
There you are, nice bow
Thank you my friend. Have a great evening. Best regards
Hey Scott! Enjoyed your vid, thanks for sharing!
Thank you Shane. I appreciate brother. Have a great evening. Best regards
im about to get one .... i make them out of pvc and fiber glass for 7 dollors and 8 hours time ,,, it taught me to shoot over my thumb but im ready for real one
Nice Video! Just orderd a hankyu for myself. Cant wait. (:
That glove looks really good. Is there a way to buy it?
I love this bow. Probably one of my favorites in my collection. I’m definitely wanting a true yumi bow now, but the price point is way beyond my wallet. Let me know your thoughts on yours when you receive it. Have a great evening. Best regards.
Has the paint stayed on well. ?
I just gone mine too haha but I got the smaller one 59" 40 lbs. I'm now waiting on some Buffalo and Yak horn to make some beautiful thumb rings as I cant find any in the US making them.
I might get the 71 now in 30 for more draw length, easy shooting fun.
Thats awesome that you make thumb rings. I’ve wanted to try a Manchu style ring but can’t seem to find a proper sizing chart or one that doesn’t break the bank. I might have to try my hand at making one. I appreciate your time my friend. Have a great evening. Best regards
That's a good idea, I was going to make a turkish ring and a mongolian (shallow hook). I'll add manchu to the list, if it goes well I can send a Yak one your way in your size.
@allencross3599 thank you my friend. Just let me know. Have a great evening.
Thanks for the review, I’ve been looking into a bow from Sarmat myself. Do you know where do find one of those thumb protectors?
Thanks for the comment my friend. Not sure where to find the thumb protector. I think Mark had something in the works at the time he sent me one, but not sure where that went. I could try to find out for you. It is definitely one of the best I have used. Thanks again for your time. Have a great evening. Best regards
@@ScottWinters much appreciated if you would ask and let me know, looks like a good one!
Fantastic video, commenting for engagement (:
Thank you my friend. I appreciate your time. Have a great evening. Best regards
I am asking Sarmat if they can make longer Yumi bows. Meanwhile PVC armory can make them on Etsy. Mine will be about 120 unfinished and with takedown ability. If only I could find the special glove on a budget also.
I've such a bow. My one is 25#@28". I shoot it @34". How many pounds can I expect ? 33# ?
How to reduce the noise when the arrow hits the bow handle ?
I use Edge Skylon spin 400. I ve increase lenght from 33" to 36 by gluying a piece of Edge. So I've 420 gr weight.
Thanks for the comment my friend. The draw weight increases 1 to 2 lbs for every inch over 28 inches, so possibly close to 35 lbs of draw weight. Using khatra helps the arrow clear the grip arrow and helps with arrow correction in the shot cycle. Though you can’t eliminate all noise, it does help. Judging by what I have experienced the string hits the top limb when the bow goes back to relaxed state causing some of the noise you may be experiencing. Add a piece of Velcro to the top limb under the string and that will help. At 420 grain weight that’s a heavy arrow and it should be ok.
I hope that helps . Have a great evening. Best regards
@@ScottWinters No , adding a piece of Velcro to the top limb under the string don't help to reduce the noise. I think it's the nock of the arrow who hit the bow handle. I think I don't have a good khatra, or I make khatra too late. I've a lot of things to learn, I'm just at the beginning of the adventure.
Too much movement for hunting, but interesting shot sequence. Have shot arrows off the knuckle. Too much blood loss on the bow hand. I am trying to picture a 71 inch bow in a ground blind. Hehee. 35 pounds is a great weight for slinging arrows for extended period of time without getting overly tired and still have decently flat trajectory with medium weight arrows.
