This is one of those American cities that display character and individualism in the architecture, rather than the identikit and formulaic towns that seem to be common in the USA. The roads have a more natural flow to them instead of grids and the streets look pedestrian friendly - narrow enough to cross safely and be seen by the driver - and clearly not designed around the automobile. Amenities should be reached within walking distance and it seems that there are not too many cars on the road. I certainly would like to see Rhode Island when I visit the United States of America. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I look at cities all over the country and it feels like I'm there. Look at the Pacific Coast Highway in CA. I always wondered what it looked like and now I know.
Im stuck in suburban maryland for now, but I enjoy seeing videos of Seattle. I once lived there a year, fell in love with the place, made a vow to return even permanently settle.
I hope you get to go again when there is a Waterfire event on the Providence River. The ceiling of the Capitol building is gorgeously painted by hand. Its breathtaking.
That's Downtown Providence. South Providence is the hood or the less economically fortunate area. If you visit your should go to North and East Providence if you're looking to be at the rich area. And Downtown Providence where the Mall is at
Gina C If you do come, walk Benefit Street. It's the most intact colonial street in the whole country. All the buildings are original, nothing has been taken out for modern businesses and a lot of homes date back to the 1700s. Then walk 2 streets up to Thayer Street for the most diverse cultural mix of food and shops you will probably ever see. Greek, Indian, Thai, Italian, Japanese, Lebanese...everything you can think of. Then head back down to see Waterfire downtown at night..you will never see anything like it again in your life.
Jennifer Lisa I hear you. I moved from Providence to Dallas Texas back in 1978. Alot has changed, but there are still familiar landmarks. Miss the food.

I am doing a lot of research into various cities, trying to decide which one to move to, and Providence keeps coming up! It seems to be a progressive city with a lot of culture.
Actually I don't have any idea of this place. We are planning to move other country and I can't forget the flag where I shouted its a National Day today. Anyone can teach us how to migrate here?

Many of the parents in Providence ignore traffic laws with their children. Many of these parents are civil servants. Youth in Rhode Island deserve law-abiding, ethical and conscientious civil servants. Their future depends upon it. What do you think? Should traffic fines be doubled in capital cities? Imagine law-abiding streets and adults in Providence! Imagine!!! Kids, if your parents ignore traffic laws, pray out loud before every family meal, "Lord, help my parents obey traffic laws, I love them."
