Poor guys, never heard of workbench and vice :-) Large-ish workbench on lockable casters, with thick-ish steel top for welding, assembly and overall not-working-on-your-knees-for-a-change is what this workshop needs :-D
Amazing build!!! Love it! Thumbs up!!! :) I was actually concerned about different wheel sizes, but in the end of the video you mentioned that it fits all sizes, so you've absolutely nailed it!!!
Thats a great build. Well done. And you can, "rub your ring on it" (14:15). If the fancy takes you. Only thing i will say, is that the spring bolt should be the other way up, in case the spring fails. Great job though guys!
That was great. Nice looking rack. You two need to team up again. These three videos have been super entertaining. Thank you Blake and thank you Martyn!
get more use from it by attaching the front wheel holder with a pin. You can have a fat bike width or road bike width by switching it out. The front wheel holder also pins in your garage to store your bike and comes with the bike you choose for that ride.
@@prestachuck2867 leather if its exposed to elements all the time and not treated will get dry and cracked way faster than nylon. But I agree if your willing to oil them from time to time they will last WAY longer.
Not too worried about his natural oils on his hands, but he is a shop mechanic and you never know what he had his hands in before touching the disc. And I can confirm that industrial oils do in fact cause a horrible sounds and reduce stopping power 😂
Cool bike rack and all, but I can't help but think a 2 inch hitch receiver rack would have been a lot cheaper and more practical. Like the Thule T2 Pro XT or the Kuat NV 2.0. They can take e -bikes, fat bikes, road bikes, and up to 4 of them for like $1000.
Blake. Just get a damn shingle back off-road rack. I know it means you have to take the rack off to fully open the boot, but if you have one with a full open then like a just the window opens option then you can still access the boot through the window/door thing. Plus they are street legal. Look em up
@@sebastiankowdrysh9518 If they swing out with the rest of the rack there is no need to clamp the brakes, and everything would swing out of the way to get in the back and have access to the spare.
No can do. Martin built this from scratch and he even had to step back and think about that wee problem. Can’t put a rear wheel brace on because it won’t hinge from the tree. Locking up the front brake is ok because the swing out in open position is only for a short period of time. Well done Martin. Monster build mate ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As a bike rack engineer, it's going to be a pain in the arse to get a bike in and out with the upper wheel holder so tall. I'll echo the other comments regarding the lower wheel straps/brackets, having to undo the straps to access the rear of the vehicle is going to prove to be pretty annoying. I do have to say the idea to strap the front brake to hold the bikes in position is pretty clever. And it looks freaking bomb proof! Your next version of the rack is goin to be way better!
Love this vid! Really cool to see you guys come up with such an awesome rack from scratch. Just curious though, any way you could weld another horizontal tubular bar to the bottom of the vertical piece? You’d have to do a swivel like for the above bar but I’m sure there’s a way. Then you wouldn’t have that swinging bike problem when opening your Jeep door. Also you wouldn’t have to unlock the rear tire every time you wanted to get inside. Feel like that would be annoying.
Don't forget the visibility of the license plate and the rear lights.... And I think Blake needs a #movable #spotlight on top of the rack for some light in dark conditions. I do not know the rules in your country, but with protruding objects you need to attach a red / white striped plate on the back (a red #handkerchief or even better a #GMBN #tshirt) for extra attention value of protruding objects.
All these questions like , what about the fat bike, jump bike and what about the number plate? The other bikes can still go on the roof and in the jeep. And as for the plate it can be moved with a number plate light rerouted easily. These are just teething problems. Overall this build is epic and I'm a mechanic and fabricator who would be proud of this. #blakebuildsforthewin
BLAKE - throw a rubber band around your handle bar (or a hair tie, or any other stretchy loop material). Sits neatly out of the way inside on you bar while you ride, and never lose it.
Next video, Blake manual's a Jeep Wrangler😂. There is more metal on the rack than the Titanic and look what happened to that, no deep puddles Blake. Martin, welding god👍
Blake... You said that you need to have the front brake on to stop the bikes from swinging... Hows that going to work on your DJ? It doesn't have a front brake.
@@bigbarrelbr That wasn’t the point. The tow bar has been directly and significantly modified, so I wonder if an insurance company would ever insure such a DIY modification to a vehicle. So if it is possible to insure I wonder what the cost would be? 🤔
Yea this looks good but has defended the purpose of having easy access to the boot the support for rear wheels should have pivoted too. Now to get in you have to unstrap all rear wheels strap all frount brakes on so they dont swing and remove locking pin thats still alot of work to get stuff in and out of boot.

This is the best build on UA-cam right now
Thanks dude 😉👍
Any time Blake's in Martin's shop, the episode should be called "Blake Gets Bullied pt 4"👍😆
Incredible craftmanship
Amazing build!!! Love it! Thumbs up!!! :) I was actually concerned about different wheel sizes, but in the end of the video you mentioned that it fits all sizes, so you've absolutely nailed it!!!
Awesome job Martyn! You too Blake....lol What makes that rack cool is not only how it looks, but it's a one off custom rig.
Fantastic Quality
Sick
Excellent build!! Martin, you knocked this out of the park.
Brilliantly entertaining. Excellent work too. Great to watch. Thanks.
Thats a great build. Well done.

A truly inspiring video to fabricate a bike rack! Keep up the Blake Builds videos.
Thanks Martyn🤘 nice job teaching Blake to weld👍
I love GMBN’s Blake Builds
Thoroughly enjoyed the build and looking forward to the next. Maybe something including brick-laying 😁.
Blake builds a bike shop
Blake, Martin - Great work, great to see the build from start to finish! Well done fellas, loved the episodes👍👌🏻 🛻
Well done Blake & Martin, wicked build .......
Looks really good, maybe a warning triangle hanging on the middle bike would be a good idea but well done to you both👍
I was thinking the same thing! I know how people here in the States drive and I would hate for someone to smash my $4k bike and a stoplight at night 😳
Tie a hi-vis vest like everyone else does. 😂
That was great. Nice looking rack. You two need to team up again. These three videos have been super entertaining. Thank you Blake and thank you Martyn!
Thank you Martyn! I’m so relieved to see this finished. Thank you Blake, for your great content!
Very special stuff, thank you! It's definitely inspiring for my new solo music project UV 🎤
Great build martin ,Blake.

Super cool build. Great to watch someone who is really skilled at what they do.
Great idea Blake locking the front brake lever so bikes don’t sway on rack when open. Great build Martin. Pretty cool rack and super strong.
Loved this series! Well done Martin and Blake! What a great job! 👍🏻👌🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent build Martin! :D
Nice build.
This custom bike rack gets a super nice from me! Great job, thanks for showing us how you made it.
The idea is very unique and its awesome!
Absolutely brilliant! It’s so cool to see the creativity you guys have to build that completely from scratch!
Cheers to Martyn!!!!
I’m getting my first mountain bike soon
Brilliant job gents 👍
Martins got a nice rs3 dude. Awesome skills too
*Looks rad!!!!!!!!*
Blake had the best idea of the day with the cable tie
Love the focus mk1 rs..
And what u doing as well 👌🤘
Awesome as always. I'd like blake to build a homemade foam pit for practicing the dirt jumps.
Once those straps frey and come off next time use a really hot hole punch since its nylon it'll close the ends off so it won't frey.
Good advice. Thanks dude
Or use stainless machine screws and nylock nuts rather than rivets, and leather toe straps rather than nylon.
@@prestachuck2867 leather if its exposed to elements all the time and not treated will get dry and cracked way faster than nylon. But I agree if your willing to oil them from time to time they will last WAY longer.
Taking orders 😃👏👏
Would love to see Blake show us around his sweet Jeep GMBN adventure mobile!
Good Job Blake and Martyn
Next build should be a biltong machine, the ultimate trail snack 🤪
More please!
Awesome! 👌🏻
Brilliant content Blake keep it up and great job Martyn.
Awesome rack, can’t beat custom built 👍🏻
Very nice work ...... congratulations and you did it!,, ride safe always
Thank you Martyn!
Martyn is a legend!
Masterpiece
Brilliant
Martin giving everyone OCD from touching the rotor
How oily are his hands
In the next video of Blake riding, we may encounter some squeaky brakes haha

Absolutely!!! :D I really thought about writing the same at the moment I've seen Martin touching the rotor!!! :D :D :D
a trick: watch series at kaldroStream. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
Amazing idea of the rack. Well made
Sick🤘
Great show Martyn and Blake, and a very merry Xmas to u all Cheers. 🖖
Part 4: Upgrading Jeep's suspension to handle a full steel bike rack! :)
Good 1 Martin
Fantastic episode ,Martin the master 😂😂
Awesome build
And your friend did a damn good job on the welding you didn't do too bad yourself
Love you heaps man keep up the awesome
A cable tie, brilliant!
This was different from you usual videos. I really enjoyed something different. Thank you for such good content.
Thank you to Martyn
Blake the builder: can we fix it
Martin: yes we can
That is so awesome

Gmbn is like the linus tech tips of mtb
Sickkkkkk
So did you work around the little issue of the rear window catching the rack when it lifts up @ 8:35 ? Awesome build though, thanks to Martyn!
Hmm Ill just be buying a Plummet rack and working some overtime at what i do well
Should have made the rear tire holders swing out with the rest of the rack.
I suggested this on the first video... now have to mess with brakes every time bit of a fail
Suppose it saved time and less welding but that would’ve made it a lot easier to use in the long run
But what if he needs his spare tire?

Looks rad! 🤙🏻 but I bet it weighs a lot and the mpg will be horrendous on that beast 😂

Suspension upgrade time! Maybe a bigger lift???

Drive carefully, there will be a lot of lateral stress on the bike's front wheels.
if you compare it to blakes riding its not a problem
Should’ve bought a LWB transit. BIG boot out back, no rack needed & living space too!
Wow
Blake... You said that you need to have the front brake on to stop the bikes from swinging... Hows that going to work on your DJ? It doesn't have a front brake.
guess he gonna have to let the DJ shwang :P
I'm thinking that his DJ might bee too short for the rack anyways. If it's perfect for enduro and DH bikes, a DJ might just hang there
Cool
First height restriction gate and 👋👋 front wheel 🤣
Yo this things is sick
