Wake me up with TM stops cheaping out on things and charging exuberant prices. Are they seriously using plastic where the stick connects? I'll stick with the gunfighter IV base for just over 200 bucks.
@@FunktasticLucky the warthog throttle is only 185 euro now and is still good have mine for 8 years still working nothing broken. Their flight stick base though is old. Got to honest allot of people treat their equipment like shit and then go nuts about quality when it breaks.
Yeah, they are right in line pricewise, but unless they have some real standout feature, there's no real point moving from the other two major competitors as both are capable of using TM grips as well as having extensive varieties of their own proprietary grips. I do appreciate that there will be more competition on the market, maybe that will help push prices down. The only real advantage I can see is that they're likely to be more accessible since TM does actually make it to retail shelving. I don't know, I guess we'll see. I'll be glad to see a review for sure. I have a crap-ton of TM stuff. For a while I was buying up any Cougar sets I could find and restoring them, and I have a Warthog set of course. If it's good stuff, I wouldn't mind adding one of those to the collection. Anyway, nice bit of info there, thank you for that.
Thrustmaster can stick it with their sticks. I'm done wasting money on them. The day they refund me for the horrible sticktion-riddled Warthog base is the day I might at least give them a glance. Don't forget the HORRIBLE customer support they have!
Looks very interesting. I'm in the market for a new stick since my TCA stick just died. Was looking at VKB but import and fees on top of fees is somewhat turning me off. Shall keep my eyes on this base. Just wish these companies would do more than just military grips such as an Airbus grip for us Airliner simmers.
Skip to the chapters ma man ;) I also was not interested in anything before as this has been covered extensively already by other channels. So skipping it is.
Nah, $300 for just the base. It's quite sad that Thrustmaster has owned this market for decades. They made the decision to sit back and stack the cash because there was no competition. Over the last, they watched the market get taken away from them. Then, they step up with the F16 throttle to stop Winwing from dominating the market. It was an expensive $500 piece of plastic with a metal handle and the cheapest switches available.
I don’t think they did that to stop winwing, winwing isn’t dominating the market because all of the brands are doing well respectfully. No one can match thrustmaster because you can get it anywhere. But yes there are way better companies like Virpil vkb and winwing who are absolutely killing the market with serious buyers.
The Thrustmaster base is far too little and far too late. It doesn't even match the others features. I'm so disappointed that a company their size didn't go directly to force feedback. The days of spring and cam joysticks are numbered, especially the very expensive ones. Force feedback will take over flight sim just like direct drive wheel bases have completely taken over driving sim. Its utterly absurd that I can build a far more engaging joystick base at home than a company like Thrustmaster will deign to sell.
The Duke IRL is one of my favorite of the great looking GA planes in the world. Such a sexy beast of a plane. Im glad they did it some justice. Will grab it. Thanks
It seems like Black Square gets even better with each release. Coming from their modification of the Caravan to the Duke you can see how much more in depth their planes have become. Their TBM 850 is still my fave plane.
About Thrustmaster, I got hope with the TPR rudder, that I bought. I never got the Warthog, as I didn't like its base; that base was not right for that stick, and they knew it since they come with this new base.
I just registerd yesterday for FSExpo, so excited for my first expo. I'll definitely register for the VR experience. So excited to meet other content creators and see my favorite flight sim devs!
AVA base is the start, more grips, cams and dampers to be released soon. Don’t need a tool kit to change things out either unlike other brands, much quicker and versatile. If you use mounts it uses the same screw holes as the old magnetic base for mounting - no new mounting plates or solutions required. Just swap out the base, customise and fly. Dampers and everything else to come. It’s all detailed in the Thrustmaster videos about the product. Virpil is great and it’s nice to have choice but not if you have to change half of your mounting setup to use it and it’s more work to swap things in and out. AVA will be a good platform to build on for Thrustmaster.
@@KK80-p5v there are many positives with Ava vs. previous TM bases. However I still suspect the built quality and the core components they look cheap and outdated. Time will tell. What also gives me hope in the hotas market is that FFB bases are showing up ... still vety boutique like and too expensive, but it's a very postove trend.
thrustmast has waited to long. Virpil cm3 has been amazing. If i get another stick itll be force feedback.... let the race begin. Who can make the best ffb stick
Good luck asking Thrustmaster for replacement cams, springs or troubleshooting. Thrustmaster hasn’t fallen behind in engineering, they’ve fallen behind in customer engagement - and that alone makes them too expensive.
Fallen behind. Oh my sweet summer child... They never had it. My TM warthog stick stopped working like 9 or 10 years ago I believe. The magnet fell off. I sent it back and they charged me to ship it back to France. It took them weeks to fix and sent me back one and it was getting strange inputs at the extreme edges. I took it apart and it turns out they forgot one of the plastic pins in the gimbal. I contacted them and sent them a video and pictures. They basically ghosted me after that. I even offered to buy the stupid plastic pin and they told me I'd have to buy the entire gimbal assembly for like 150+shipping. They have been trash for a while but people keep buying their products.
The thing with TM is, apart from the budget line products like the T16000s and the TFRP, that the stuff costs nearly the same as the more evolved stuff like VKB ot Virpil and at the same time still has some very cheap aspects like the Hotas gimbal, flight sticks breaking because of the cheap cast metal quality that I dont believe in the great comeback qualitywise. TM in contrast to the others is so well represented on international markets because of their strong emphasis on marketing they know every first-timer will use a TM product before starting to notice that they average quality at best.
I had a previous Thrustmaster Warthog where the countermeasure thumb switch broke off on the thing. Then when I eventually needed to get support for the base itself, that was like pulling teeth to get anyone from Thrustmaster to respond in a timely manner. Compare that to the time I reached out to Virpil for support when something went wrong with my steel rudder pedals that I could probably chuck off of my roof and keep using, and it's hard to find a reason to go to Thrustmaster for them making a thing that the other manufacturers have been making for years now with better support. Thrustmaster will really need to do more to wow me. Knocking down the price on the A-10 throttle base a bit might be a start, or making modular throttles like Winwing with better options for planes like the Harrier, F-14 or F-4 with that coming up. That would be a nice start. This just kind of feels like them arriving late to a party and bringing the same things everyone else did.
don't wait. It's inferior by design in many ways. No damper for one. TM's grip is also too old and too heavy, and lots of low quality/cheap material has been used, especially for the connector ring, which is the weakest point
@@NanaHoshi35 honestly is hard deciding between Virpil and VKB. Virpil’s base looks a lot more heavy duty inside than VKB. I read some comments say the cams on VKB have a coating that’s flaking off but the MCGU grip gets a lot of praise
