Well, probably they just began instead of being an established thing. That or colonies do nothing to negate the effects, as we do see a shot descending into a colony in the WfM trailer
Not surprised given that the writer also worked on the anime adaptation for Planetes which they had to do a lot of research for regarding both the technology and the effects space has on the human body.

@@Nachtness Kinda hard not to skip that one. Even disregarding the obvious issues, there is just how do you even watch it. Out of all the Gundam series, that one has proven difficult to find by any way, even if you hoist the colors. Though granted, G-Reco only really acknowledged it in a single scene while Witch from Mercury seems built around it.
Glad to see this. I really wish there was more of this kind of stuff that discussed the technological aspects of Gundam. It is just something that I feel often gets overlooked. And from what I can tell from the prologue, Witch of Mercury really seems to be paying attention to that aspect.

It seems that the Aerial being a second generation PMET MS is easier to sync with. They can still bring in NewType bs with PMET mirroring a form of psychoframe/psycommu tech... Bringing true meaning to the term Cyber NewType with the main characters probably having some form of cyberpathy/technokinesis.
I won't put it past them honestly. At some point Suletta's affinity with Aerial will be so deep she can control Aerial with her mind without a wired PMET Link, calling it here.
I dont think so, on the prologue dr cardo warned elnora when the gundam rejected her during the final connections. I think its more than sulletta is fully compatible with the technology (that would explain the lack of drawbacks to her during the first sortie)
My personal guess is that Eri is genetically modified, either purposely (in secret, since her mother doesn't seem to know about that), or unknowingly (e.g., the energy bar used in her mother's artificial arm might have some effects on Eri when she was still an embryo. That's why the texture on Eri's face is blue rather than red.
Well, it's a fact that she is augmented internally for her to even establish a PMET Link. We'll have to see what Elan Ceres goes through with the Gundam Pharact if that needs a Link to pilot before we can draw any conclusions on that part. I won't put it past them to use genetic engineering for her deeper affinity though.
@@mj2005gundam I think the secret is within the production type number. Normally, production type number will change depending on how or where the MS is made, stolen, or even modified.
The OS seems more like an early developed A.I system that can read pilot's mind. I think this series has a little reference to Pacific Rim too. Started as a medical support (DARPA program in PR), lethal to the pilot (PR solves it with a 2-pilot setting while this series is more about the compatibility rate). IBO system is wired and here it looks like they all go wireless. Mom connects to the suit through GUND part and Ericht control the suit through her mom looks like a higher version of Wireless Android Auto to me. It's going to be interesting if the gundam OS is actually an A.I and it will develop its self-awareness at some point and probably will start communicating with the girl, maybe in the last moment like Muzzle from Gargantia? That would be interesting if the story path goes down that way
A lot of people missed the fact that Ericht actually plugs herself into the Lftith during her interaction with Dr Cardo Nabo. But otherwise, you do have a fair point. And yeah, the Pacific Rim parallels are also good things to bring up, as they are somewhat similar
@@mj2005gundam Which A never made sense given Space IS the Most Hostile of all environments. It never made any sense why humanity in the those Universal Timeline didn't try to augment the human body to adapt to it in any of the other previous gundam series excluding, Reconguista, IBO, and SEED, or at least never made mention of such attempts.. Makes me wonder why NASA never tried such a thing in RL too to be honest. Also MS Team, IBO, & THUNDERBOLT were frankly the only Gundam series I can think of off hand to try & give a plausable and realistic reason as to how dangerous piloting a Mobile suit is or how much strain it actually puts on a pilot to do so. I mean Barbatos nearly killed Mikazuki by just TRYING to use it's full-potential. Look at Daryl Lorenz(o) that man lost more from piloting mobile suits and he was still FORCED to keep going he was more machine then man by the season's climactic battle...It was said once in IBO Piloting a Gundam is a "Curse."

This is reminding me more and more of several series. ghost in the shell and Armoured Core being the main ones. Augmentation of the body to gain a advantage.
My theory on eri being able to wake Lfrith is that Dr.Cardo is wrong about mechanization of humanity to survive in space and eri is the proof that humanity can adapt to a life in space biologically, it also might the stepping stone for the so called "innovators" or "newtypes"
This might be a viable conclusion in the end, taking the form of less need for mechanical parts as the human body evolves. Not to say that it will be eliminated, as they're still needed to interface with the Gundams, but there'll be less of a need for them
I think Suletta might have pre-emptive GUND parts that won't harm her as she grows and that's why the older humans have a hard time with it as where eri is more than likely completely fine the adults probably had alot of GUND parts to replace failing ones where Eri probably hasn't replaced anything but has GUND parts that protect and or reinforce her body
They did say they want to prove the stability of the GUND-Format, but now that you said it, the implants themselves might also have undergone some refinements as well instead of, or on to of, the PMET Score system... Interesting
Really find it amusing how this and IBO has some overlaps in technology concepts (the similarities in the gund-format system and the alaya vijnana). Imagine if WFM suddenly introducers mobile armors down its run. That will fuel the speculation that Ad Stella was in fact IBO's Calamity War era.
That's an interesting thought, though it's been stated that Mobile Suits in the PD were made after the MAs went rogue, so I don't think they could've existed before MAs. Still, the parallels between the GUND-Format and Alaya-Vijnana is uncanny

Maybe it has less of an effect on them because they’re younger like how the kids from IBO had a higher success rate for their surgery maybe the younger are when you get arguments your body has more time to adapt since you still developing opposed to the people the older when they got the arguments 🤔
That could be a possibility, however it's stated in Prologue that they're developing a safer and more stable version of the PMET Link for the final production Lfrith, so it's probably more on the hardware than the adaptability of the developing child
@@mj2005gundam The fact that it Elnora couldn't break past "Layer 33", whereas Ericht did, does point out that there's likely a physiological reason between pilots that allowed the Lfrith's GUND Format to work.
Why would you think there fantasy magic involved in any gundam series? From the title and the trailer months ago, i knew it would be like some newtype space magic and thst enough gof me. I seen a gundam magic shojo manga (She is Zeon citizen for anyone interested) and the story is for humour.

I know it's not stated but from looking at the fight and the mobile suits of the Gund system they aren't weapons of war but space colony defense craft. The rifles of the Lfriths are unwieldy, large and bulky, the bits only work defensively, the mines are only rated for debris clearing as it took multiple to take down a single mass production MS. Plus the whole production team was focused on the Civilian application for the tech not it's use as a war machine. So in this case it's like Gundam Seed with the Stargazer program. Also the Lfrith is named after the sun god worshipped by the Rabbits in the book Water ship down( not the first time as the Titans test mobile Suits in Advance of Zeta are named after characters from that book) and is a beneficial deity not a resentful one. It's a bit of a stretch but it seems unlike other series Gundam the witch from Mercury presents the idea that while the Gund Arms development was an earth project it's intention was entirely for space development. As unlike most other Gundam series the main rifle blasts and beam sabers are blue as opposed to the usual red, yellow, purple or Green of the rest of the franchise.
The obvious answer here is that two minds reduces the strain considerably as far the Lfrith goes for the pre production models, the obvious problem is the number of units The unit sends out 10 mines plus controlling the MS, hence why the strain is intense because instead of shooting its chasing which requires considerably more focus
Then again, is it really that obvious? If Lfrith exerts strain, it will have exerted it on both Elnora and Ericht, or entirely on one of them, yet we saw none of them experience the symptoms of the data storm. As I said, Elnora was just having a cold sweat from witnessing her 4-year-old daughter kill people with her mind. On top of that, if there is indeed negated strain that both minds are taking, the blue markings will have appeared on both their faces, yet they only appeared on Ericht's, suggesting that only she's in control, while her mother presumably acts as a back-up controller. There's also the concept of the final Lfrith designed to not have any backlash to the pilot in order to prove the stability of the GUND-Format technology. So either you're right and the backlash that there is is negated by both minds, or that what they were trying to do worked and the pilots suffered no backlash at all.
@@mj2005gundam When pre production pilots were flying there was no visible hue but as soon as they used the weapons, the combined strain of doing both took it toll Ericht was only controlling the weapons while her mother was doing the piloting. also remember that the Lfrith weapons traditional bits not mines there are a lot of difference between models that explain why the strain was considerably less Marida with NZ-666 controlled up 24 bits with relative ease whereas Zabanya needed two Haro Bit control tech is hard to read sometimes
@@verdebusterAP Different universes, different rules for how bit control is done so the previous examples do not work for comparisons besides the control is different and weird at times. (Haros were mostly used to give the pilot more focus on sniping as the Thrones Zwei, Arche, and Reborns have bits that they can control with no assistance.) You are right about the strain happening as soon as they start using too much at once, but just as MJ said in the video it is once they go to PMET Score 3. The markings happen period when funnel/ bit tech is used. Also, traditional and mine bits should not matter on how much strain they put on a person, they are still tech being controlled the same way. It is like saying that there is a big difference between an Xbox controller and a Playstation one for one of them having better control over a character instead of the other. Also, if the strain is not as bad for when two people are piloting, then why did only Ericht get the markings while her mom did not get it?
@@knightx605 Ericht got marking because of the Gund Factor system, Shes was using that system The MS can be piloted without it but there is problem with that statement when they first launched , the system wasn't active , they had to turn it on ,but stranger when it was jammed, the entire ms shut down despite it being shown able to operate without it There is a lot unanswered questions
Not that familiar with the Gundam series, but am I correct in thinking that this series is the first time that the Gundams origins are from medical tech rather than just them being made to be super war mechs in the first place?
I think the reason why Ericht managed to link up with LFRITH is because she's a child with an underdeveloped brain, which in theory is more susceptible to change and adaptation that allows her brain to have a smoother connection to the machine, very much like how in IBO Child soldiers are rampant in mars and the solar system outer rings due to the fact that the implants have a higher chance of bonding with a child than a full-grown adult. Which means if Vanadis really thrown their ethics away we would have a classic gundam situation: child soldiers and experimentations.
Considering Gundams are still a thing in story, what happened in the prologue merely slow down the development of the Project, they probably run so many tests on Ericht to figure out what is the special sauce and eventually managed to fix the problem of people getting their brains fried by the machine. I'm honestly excited with how their gonna go with the school setting for TWFM considering most of the casts are young childrens and probably have their fair share of being involved with Mobile Suits Development.
Knowing Ichiro Okouchi is writing this anime, I can already tell he's gonna use the PMET system as a plot device to do a lot of crazy, dramatic shit. Not sure I like the idea, but let's see!

@@NicholsToys He also wrote Princess Principal and the anime version of Planetes. I feel a lot of people get hung up on single things regarding this writer while ignoring everything else. One has to remember that Tomino wasn't exactly spotless either when it came to utter random crap.
@@Bakuganluver23 Among others, there is just too much weirdness when it comes to him that fans just seem to ignore. Bikini Babe Assault or Uso's capture in Victory are perhaps some of the most glaring, but there is just so much more.
I think it's more Lfrith gets refitted to the Aeriel to hide it's identity. Much like how in Zone of the Enders Fist of Mars the Testament orbital frame is hidden as a LEV unit.
I love the Gundam Lfrith's design and its ability to control the shield bits. In fact, I believe G-Witch's thin waist Gundam design is more believably survivable and aesthetically pleasing than G-Orphan's unarmored Gundam design. However, I really hate how the Gundam got its arm cut off by a sword. Logically speaking, the purpose of starting the GUND-Arms project is to create mobile suit that can single handedly defeat multiple opponents. The only way to realistically achieve such victory is to make sure the mobile suit's armor is capable of surviving attacks from multiple opponents, specifically multi-directional attacks delivered by primitive and cheap weapons such as shell-firing autocannons, missiles, and solid melee weapon (the mobile suit can rely on shield bits for protection against beam weapon). At the very least, you want to make sure that your mobile suit can survive the enemies' firepowers long enough for the shield bits to clear out all the enemies. You cannot realistically rely purely on evasive maneuver to survive unequal gunfights because it's horribly fuel inefficient, impractical, and dangerous to the pilot's health due to the sudden changes of inertia. Maybe I'm judging G-Witch too early, or I have missed something when watching the Prologue that can explain what happened. I just don't like how the Gundam can be easily damaged by a sword. I mean for God's sake, the battery-powered Gundams from Gundam SEED have Phase Shift armor that is immune to anything that is not beam without any weight penalty (though the only downside is that it's power hungry).
1). The Beguir-Beu by all accounts is designed as an anti-Gundam weapon, with performance and abilities that allow it to kill Gundams easily. It'd be a rather bad weapon in general if it can't even use its weapons to damage a Gundam. 2) Note that the Lfrith does have an energy barrier system it uses to deflect attacks, so it does have a defensive system in place. Also, mobile suits in space are often portrayed in a manner similar to fighter aircraft, where they utilize maneuver and speed to evade most attacks, like how the Gundam here evades most of the Heingra squadron's attacks due to how fast it was because of the GUND Format, and the only reason they got defeated was because the Beguir-Beu was a similarly powerful machine in the hands of an actual elite pilot. Btw, IRL the main tenet when it comes to gunfights is not to have better armor than your enemy, but to try not to get hit at all, which is true even for infantrymen and armored vehicles: you rely on the element of maneuver and surprise to get the drop on your enemy, and use the environment to your advantage such as taking cover. In the case of not having cover, such as in air combat or in space, then you need to have speed and maneuverability on your side in close combat, or pray you have weapon systems capable of killing your enemies long before they see you (which is why most modern fighter design trends toward stealth with long-range air-to-air missiles). 3) You're judging these Gundam's by how they're portrayed in other series, which isn't really a good way to start: you'll want to judge Gundams by how they're portrayed in their own series, not in comparison to others. Also, there have been Gundams that have rather bad armor before, such as the Gundam Astrays which don't have Phase Shift armor, and most Gundams starting with Zeta no longer had armor superiority against their enemies at the beginning, e.g. the Gundam Mk 2 when it started out in Zeta was matched by a lot of other mobile suits in its day in terms of firepower capable of dealing damage against it.
Early judgements I feel like. We need to see more, but yeah, as Noir said, Beguir-Beu is an anti-Gundam weapon in the hands of an Ace, so it only makes sense for it to be able to damage the Lfrith from shutting it down and slicing its arm

Is it safe to assume that Gundam Lfrith's armour works the same way as the Phase Shift from SEED and GN-coated E-Carbon from 00 (both rely on energy from power supply to maintain physical immunity), therefore Lfrith got its arm cut off because its power got shut down in that fight?
Actually it was never stated that the Lfrith and it's two Mass production prototypes we're military in nature. As the company and design team only focused on civil applications. Sure the linking system has a military application but the mass production units only had marginal performance above the mook suits. Weaponry wise it looks like they were fitted for colony hazard defense and debris clearing.

I'm finding the series very charming with a lot of opportunities for interactions that would be rare or impossible in the classic "child prodigy commandeers experimental MS and uses it to turn the tide of a war" trope.
My one question in the prologue is like this. If they knew the development can bring potential risk to the patient of GUND-Format, why didn't Cathedral or other company help Vanadis & Ochs to minimize the risk?
My guess is that the risk to pilots is just an excuse to make the operation look justified. It's more likely that they feared the power of the Gundam and related technologies and had wanted to nip the threat in the bud.
So my simpleton brain put it this way to help me understand it better, essentially it's like the IBO AV system, instead with levels that increase performance but also strain, and also has a psycho frame esc thing with the hue stuff (which it think will get explained as something more in the show cause why not) but not as busted, I dig it.
Probably Aerial are upgraded version of lfrith and seen on prequel episode are 1 gundam frame has been unfinished and this probably unfinished gundam frame been captured and modified to the black gundam one ( gundam phlock(?) Forgot the name) .
The unfinished GUND-ARM Frame is from a flashback. If this flies, I would have the Peil House salvage the Lfrith that isn't blown up and make it into the Pharact
@@iazy47 lfrith are named LF-03 Where as the 2 destroyed prototype is LF-01 & LF-02 And as described in the video, PMET score 4 causes overboost on top of pilot life, its not even sure if the pilot is dead or catatonic LF-01 & LF-02 technically is captured considering none of them explode And all gundam we see in prologue is Lfriths, The special LF-03 is simply its OS/AI, which we won't know where it will go
What if, instead of one pilot taking the brunt of the permet score, there's two? It's like Pacific Rim stated, if one man can get overloaded from the Data Storm of a Jaeger. Why not establish connection with a co-pilot in order to minimize the disadvantages of the Permet Score
They could've gone this route honestly. There's something about a two-seater Gundam that would actually be interesting. However, with what transpired in Ep 14, I have a feeling that Eri is somehow the special snowflake, so she's the only one that can use the GUND-Format safely, even when the Lfrith is designed to demonstrate so with nothing but failed tests until Eri stepped in
@@mj2005gundam If Permet Score 4 is enough to be life threatening, how is it if 2 Pilots agree to engage it. It could halven the effects back to just Permet 2 at best, or 3 at worst. Not only does having 2 Pilots give the advantage of a lesser lethality, but the adaptation of a more prolonged use could at the very least build up their endurance. It doesn't have to be just two pilots of equal footing. Just like Suletta and Aerial, a more experienced pilot would take most of the Permet Score's damage at a shorter duration just to engage the Gund-bits while another pilot does the job of piloting the main chassis of the Gundam. But of two Pilots with experience, you best be damned they can make Permet 4 last long, maybe even make it to Permet 5. But yeah, as you said, the only way to counter a permet score in gundam is to just be built differently. And a normal mobile suit user needs to, at best, outmatch a gundam with sheer skill and willpower
And tbh, Guel would've actually won against Elan in skill. But as Guel's Dilanza is built for Heavy Duty Close-Quarters Combat against Elan's Ranged Ambusher, its a one-sided matchup.

What about the levels Eri was the only one to reach level 33 and that’s probably why there was no strain on her or her mom cause at the beginning her mom had red marks on her face at the beginning of prologue
Elnora did not have markings on her face in the beginning, the only red on her face was reflected onto her by the visor. It's still unexplained, but it's been stated that the Gundam Lfrith is the one to possess a safe version of the PMET link, as they want to "prove the soundness" of the GUND Format. I always go by the theory that Eri just has a deeper affinity to the Lfrith with her GUND body parts. The blue markings are merely a by-product.
I think the whole "All series lead to Turn A" in the form of a linear timeline is fanmade, since as far as we know, this is a separate series with no linear placement between the Gundam AUs
@@mj2005gundam Yeah, I never really bought into that thing myself: I always consider EVERY Gundam series, save for actual sequels, COMPLETELY seperate from every other Gundam timeline.
No matter which timeline goes, there's always a corporations and manufacturers that could influences the government and bring war into a forever status quo..
Gundams were probably never meant for combat to begin with, it's just the council looking at a host of failed experiment results and deciding to shut the project down. Corporations are often dominated by microbes, so they're always prone to war if the head deems it necessary.

It probably has smth to do with either the baby itself or the Gundam Lfrith . There should be something special about the baby and I’m not really sure if the blue mark on her face sets her apart from others . The mystery is remained unsolved.
Maybe they'll have boosts to defense instead of reaction in SD Gundam like the new type baseline. Other than that though this doesn't sound very interesting to me.

this takes away from the actual character development. she will have some disagreement with the machine and it wont listen to her or something. Shes not a hardworking pilot. Just another "we all have to understand eachother" chara
I watched a lot of anime in general. You can make an overpowered character but you have to do it very well. This isn’t really it. That’s why power creep is so loved. Pokémon, dbz, even gundam. I hated banager for the same reason
How people like this G witch series, 12 episode almost no action woke as shit, elite school with bs power trip and ugly mobile suits. Prologue had more fun than 1-9 episodes. Even original gundam have 1970 have better plot than this.

My personal guess is that Eri is genetically modified, either purposely (in secret, since her mother doesn't seem to know about that), or unknowingly (e.g., the energy bar used in her mother's artificial arm might have some effects on Eri when she was still an embryo. That's why the texture on Eri's face is blue rather than red.
Well, it's a fact that she is augmented internally for her to even establish a PMET Link. We'll have to see what Elan Ceres goes through with the Gundam Pharact if that needs a Link to pilot before we can draw any conclusions on that part. I won't put it past them to use genetic engineering for her deeper affinity though.
To me, I read the blue effect as the system establishing a stable link. Red meanwhile signifies an unstable one.

The OS seems more like an early developed A.I system that can read pilot's mind. I think this series has a little reference to Pacific Rim too. Started as a medical support (DARPA program in PR), lethal to the pilot (PR solves it with a 2-pilot setting while this series is more about the compatibility rate). IBO system is wired and here it looks like they all go wireless. Mom connects to the suit through GUND part and Ericht control the suit through her mom looks like a higher version of Wireless Android Auto to me. It's going to be interesting if the gundam OS is actually an A.I and it will develop its self-awareness at some point and probably will start communicating with the girl, maybe in the last moment like Muzzle from Gargantia? That would be interesting if the story path goes down that way
A lot of people missed the fact that Ericht actually plugs herself into the Lftith during her interaction with Dr Cardo Nabo. But otherwise, you do have a fair point. And yeah, the Pacific Rim parallels are also good things to bring up, as they are somewhat similar

My theory on eri being able to wake Lfrith is that Dr.Cardo is wrong about mechanization of humanity to survive in space and eri is the proof that humanity can adapt to a life in space biologically, it also might the stepping stone for the so called "innovators" or "newtypes"
This might be a viable conclusion in the end, taking the form of less need for mechanical parts as the human body evolves. Not to say that it will be eliminated, as they're still needed to interface with the Gundams, but there'll be less of a need for them
I think Suletta might have pre-emptive GUND parts that won't harm her as she grows and that's why the older humans have a hard time with it as where eri is more than likely completely fine the adults probably had alot of GUND parts to replace failing ones where Eri probably hasn't replaced anything but has GUND parts that protect and or reinforce her body

That could be a possibility, however it's stated in Prologue that they're developing a safer and more stable version of the PMET Link for the final production Lfrith, so it's probably more on the hardware than the adaptability of the developing child

I know it's not stated but from looking at the fight and the mobile suits of the Gund system they aren't weapons of war but space colony defense craft. The rifles of the Lfriths are unwieldy, large and bulky, the bits only work defensively, the mines are only rated for debris clearing as it took multiple to take down a single mass production MS. Plus the whole production team was focused on the Civilian application for the tech not it's use as a war machine. So in this case it's like Gundam Seed with the Stargazer program. Also the Lfrith is named after the sun god worshipped by the Rabbits in the book Water ship down( not the first time as the Titans test mobile Suits in Advance of Zeta are named after characters from that book) and is a beneficial deity not a resentful one. It's a bit of a stretch but it seems unlike other series Gundam the witch from Mercury presents the idea that while the Gund Arms development was an earth project it's intention was entirely for space development. As unlike most other Gundam series the main rifle blasts and beam sabers are blue as opposed to the usual red, yellow, purple or Green of the rest of the franchise.

The obvious answer here is that two minds reduces the strain considerably as far the Lfrith goes
for the pre production models, the obvious problem is the number of units
The unit sends out 10 mines plus controlling the MS, hence why the strain is intense because instead of shooting
its chasing which requires considerably more focus

If Lfrith exerts strain, it will have exerted it on both Elnora and Ericht, or entirely on one of them, yet we saw none of them experience the symptoms of the data storm. As I said, Elnora was just having a cold sweat from witnessing her 4-year-old daughter kill people with her mind. On top of that, if there is indeed negated strain that both minds are taking, the blue markings will have appeared on both their faces, yet they only appeared on Ericht's, suggesting that only she's in control, while her mother presumably acts as a back-up controller.
There's also the concept of the final Lfrith designed to not have any backlash to the pilot in order to prove the stability of the GUND-Format technology. So either you're right and the backlash that there is is negated by both minds, or that what they were trying to do worked and the pilots suffered no backlash at all.

(Haros were mostly used to give the pilot more focus on sniping as the Thrones Zwei, Arche, and Reborns have bits that they can control with no assistance.)
You are right about the strain happening as soon as they start using too much at once, but just as MJ said in the video it is once they go to PMET Score 3. The markings happen period when funnel/ bit tech is used. Also, traditional and mine bits should not matter on how much strain they put on a person, they are still tech being controlled the same way. It is like saying that there is a big difference between an Xbox controller and a Playstation one for one of them having better control over a character instead of the other.
Also, if the strain is not as bad for when two people are piloting, then why did only Ericht get the markings while her mom did not get it?

Ericht got marking because of the Gund Factor system, Shes was using that system
The MS can be piloted without it but there is problem with that statement
when they first launched , the system wasn't active , they had to turn it on ,but stranger when it was jammed, the entire ms shut down despite it being shown able to operate without it

Based on the animated series alone, it seems to be so, yeah.
I think the reason why Ericht managed to link up with LFRITH is because she's a child with an underdeveloped brain, which in theory is more susceptible to change and adaptation that allows her brain to have a smoother connection to the machine, very much like how in IBO Child soldiers are rampant in mars and the solar system outer rings due to the fact that the implants have a higher chance of bonding with a child than a full-grown adult. Which means if Vanadis really thrown their ethics away we would have a classic gundam situation: child soldiers and experimentations.
If that were true, then things are about to get dark
Considering Gundams are still a thing in story, what happened in the prologue merely slow down the development of the Project, they probably run so many tests on Ericht to figure out what is the special sauce and eventually managed to fix the problem of people getting their brains fried by the machine.
I'm honestly excited with how their gonna go with the school setting for TWFM considering most of the casts are young childrens and probably have their fair share of being involved with Mobile Suits Development.

I love the Gundam Lfrith's design and its ability to control the shield bits. In fact, I believe G-Witch's thin waist Gundam design is more believably survivable and aesthetically pleasing than G-Orphan's unarmored Gundam design.
However, I really hate how the Gundam got its arm cut off by a sword. Logically speaking, the purpose of starting the GUND-Arms project is to create mobile suit that can single handedly defeat multiple opponents. The only way to realistically achieve such victory is to make sure the mobile suit's armor is capable of surviving attacks from multiple opponents, specifically multi-directional attacks delivered by primitive and cheap weapons such as shell-firing autocannons, missiles, and solid melee weapon (the mobile suit can rely on shield bits for protection against beam weapon). At the very least, you want to make sure that your mobile suit can survive the enemies' firepowers long enough for the shield bits to clear out all the enemies. You cannot realistically rely purely on evasive maneuver to survive unequal gunfights because it's horribly fuel inefficient, impractical, and dangerous to the pilot's health due to the sudden changes of inertia.
Maybe I'm judging G-Witch too early, or I have missed something when watching the Prologue that can explain what happened. I just don't like how the Gundam can be easily damaged by a sword. I mean for God's sake, the battery-powered Gundams from Gundam SEED have Phase Shift armor that is immune to anything that is not beam without any weight penalty (though the only downside is that it's power hungry).
1). The Beguir-Beu by all accounts is designed as an anti-Gundam weapon, with performance and abilities that allow it to kill Gundams easily. It'd be a rather bad weapon in general if it can't even use its weapons to damage a Gundam.
2) Note that the Lfrith does have an energy barrier system it uses to deflect attacks, so it does have a defensive system in place. Also, mobile suits in space are often portrayed in a manner similar to fighter aircraft, where they utilize maneuver and speed to evade most attacks, like how the Gundam here evades most of the Heingra squadron's attacks due to how fast it was because of the GUND Format, and the only reason they got defeated was because the Beguir-Beu was a similarly powerful machine in the hands of an actual elite pilot. Btw, IRL the main tenet when it comes to gunfights is not to have better armor than your enemy, but to try not to get hit at all, which is true even for infantrymen and armored vehicles: you rely on the element of maneuver and surprise to get the drop on your enemy, and use the environment to your advantage such as taking cover. In the case of not having cover, such as in air combat or in space, then you need to have speed and maneuverability on your side in close combat, or pray you have weapon systems capable of killing your enemies long before they see you (which is why most modern fighter design trends toward stealth with long-range air-to-air missiles).
3) You're judging these Gundam's by how they're portrayed in other series, which isn't really a good way to start: you'll want to judge Gundams by how they're portrayed in their own series, not in comparison to others. Also, there have been Gundams that have rather bad armor before, such as the Gundam Astrays which don't have Phase Shift armor, and most Gundams starting with Zeta no longer had armor superiority against their enemies at the beginning, e.g. the Gundam Mk 2 when it started out in Zeta was matched by a lot of other mobile suits in its day in terms of firepower capable of dealing damage against it.
Early judgements I feel like. We need to see more, but yeah, as Noir said, Beguir-Beu is an anti-Gundam weapon in the hands of an Ace, so it only makes sense for it to be able to damage the Lfrith from shutting it down and slicing its arm

Is it safe to assume that Gundam Lfrith's armour works the same way as the Phase Shift from SEED and GN-coated E-Carbon from 00 (both rely on energy from power supply to maintain physical immunity), therefore Lfrith got its arm cut off because its power got shut down in that fight?
Actually it was never stated that the Lfrith and it's two Mass production prototypes we're military in nature. As the company and design team only focused on civil applications. Sure the linking system has a military application but the mass production units only had marginal performance above the mook suits. Weaponry wise it looks like they were fitted for colony hazard defense and debris clearing.
I believe Aerial was said to have reached PMET score 6 during the squad duel late in the first season.

I'm finding the series very charming with a lot of opportunities for interactions that would be rare or impossible in the classic "child prodigy commandeers experimental MS and uses it to turn the tide of a war" trope.
My one question in the prologue is like this. If they knew the development can bring potential risk to the patient of GUND-Format, why didn't Cathedral or other company help Vanadis & Ochs to minimize the risk?
My guess is that the risk to pilots is just an excuse to make the operation look justified. It's more likely that they feared the power of the Gundam and related technologies and had wanted to nip the threat in the bud.
So my simpleton brain put it this way to help me understand it better, essentially it's like the IBO AV system, instead with levels that increase performance but also strain, and also has a psycho frame esc thing with the hue stuff (which it think will get explained as something more in the show cause why not) but not as busted, I dig it.
The shell units only indicate the use of the PMET related systems instead of having an individual function. But otherwise, you're pretty spot on

They could've gone this route honestly. There's something about a two-seater Gundam that would actually be interesting. However, with what transpired in Ep 14, I have a feeling that Eri is somehow the special snowflake, so she's the only one that can use the GUND-Format safely, even when the Lfrith is designed to demonstrate so with nothing but failed tests until Eri stepped in
@@mj2005gundam If Permet Score 4 is enough to be life threatening, how is it if 2 Pilots agree to engage it. It could halven the effects back to just Permet 2 at best, or 3 at worst.
Not only does having 2 Pilots give the advantage of a lesser lethality, but the adaptation of a more prolonged use could at the very least build up their endurance.
It doesn't have to be just two pilots of equal footing. Just like Suletta and Aerial, a more experienced pilot would take most of the Permet Score's damage at a shorter duration just to engage the Gund-bits while another pilot does the job of piloting the main chassis of the Gundam.
But of two Pilots with experience, you best be damned they can make Permet 4 last long, maybe even make it to Permet 5.
But yeah, as you said, the only way to counter a permet score in gundam is to just be built differently.
And a normal mobile suit user needs to, at best, outmatch a gundam with sheer skill and willpower

Elnora did not have markings on her face in the beginning, the only red on her face was reflected onto her by the visor. It's still unexplained, but it's been stated that the Gundam Lfrith is the one to possess a safe version of the PMET link, as they want to "prove the soundness" of the GUND Format. I always go by the theory that Eri just has a deeper affinity to the Lfrith with her GUND body parts. The blue markings are merely a by-product.

I think the whole "All series lead to Turn A" in the form of a linear timeline is fanmade, since as far as we know, this is a separate series with no linear placement between the Gundam AUs
@@mj2005gundam Yeah, I never really bought into that thing myself: I always consider EVERY Gundam series, save for actual sequels, COMPLETELY seperate from every other Gundam timeline.
No matter which timeline goes, there's always a corporations and manufacturers that could influences the government and bring war into a forever status quo..
Gundams were probably never meant for combat to begin with, it's just the council looking at a host of failed experiment results and deciding to shut the project down. Corporations are often dominated by microbes, so they're always prone to war if the head deems it necessary.

It probably has smth to do with either the baby itself or the Gundam Lfrith . There should be something special about the baby and I’m not really sure if the blue mark on her face sets her apart from others . The mystery is remained unsolved.
Maybe they'll have boosts to defense instead of reaction in SD Gundam like the new type baseline. Other than that though this doesn't sound very interesting to me.

So what im getting here is that this is a re-skinned Iron Blooded Orphans series.
Essentially IBO in a more traditional Gundam setting with beams, bits, and the sort being dominant again. Though Beguir-Beu still uses physical stuff, so a mix I guess?
this takes away from the actual character development. she will have some disagreement with the machine and it wont listen to her or something. Shes not a hardworking pilot. Just another "we all have to understand eachother" chara

I watched a lot of anime in general. You can make an overpowered character but you have to do it very well. This isn’t really it. That’s why power creep is so loved. Pokémon, dbz, even gundam. I hated banager for the same reason
