This is an awesome video and very easy to understanding.
You have really got me SOLD on the values of the 5 OUT especially for YOUTH. I played back in the days fight before anybody was really using it. And I don't really enjoy watching it. But I can see now how effective it can be and how multiple it can be.
When dealing with younger teams you have to find a way to play to their strengths... but if you walked in as a NEW coach to that team/program you might be in a spot where you MUST use some 5 OUT.
Now I am starting to see how to fit the 5 OUT concepts around some of the more Traditional Basketball from the Old School Lakers/Celtics Days I learned from my Dad and some other Coaches I had and the More Recent Old School Offenses of the 80's and 90's.
And since so many of TODAY's TEAMS and Players use 5 OUT I think I now have a better WINDOW into how to use it to teach them what I know best and most want to run. And I also see how 5-OUT has influenced the NEW NEW Offenses that I also enjoy. Before it was like FOR ME that there was a MISSING LINK in Basketball Evolution and that LINK was the 5 OUT that I had missed out on and used to consider just TRASH.
I'm hoping you do some videos on the Wisconsin SWING because I think is might be the way to help organize a good chunk of OLD SCHOOL plays into 1 system that would make the most sense to Modern Players. I've seen some similarities that make me think I am on to something. But then I reach the end of what I know about the SWING and it falls apart on me.
glad you enjoyed... with the teams I have coached I use set plays that end in a 5 out, but also give them an option to run the 5 out as a main offense as well. I would say the most used offences I use are Triangle and 5 out, then Horns set plays that move into 5 out. I dont use a traditional zone offense like a 3-2 offense as I find a 5 out can spread the zone and then we attack the gaps and look for the high post cutters for high to low post passing
