greetins from Mexico, i have 18 years old, and i am a gem hunter amateur, today i discovered a vein of quartz's to close of my house, thanks for your videos Liz :)
Thank you Liz. Found the "tyre" and Castle Rock. No one in cooee. Drove down a km or so to diggings and rummaged around the mullick heaps. Think we have some. Bonza sharing such info.
Thanks balxie. If only that was possible, we'd jump at the chance. Unfortunately, we struggle to get 4 months or so together for a trip. Hope all's going great down your way and keenly waiting for your next video. All the best, Liz

You are fortunate to live in an area where you can reasonably travel to mine your stones. I would love to be able to do as you do for a living. Very relaxing thought. :)
We only do this as a hobby(vacation) Chas and have to travel thousands of miles to get here. Thanks for watching and commenting and wish you all the very best...Liz
Wow, you seemed so familiar with the land, and knowledgeable, that it was easy to assume it was close to home. That taught me to not assume, haha. Thousands of miles :( oh dear! I'm learning a lot from you, so keep up the videos. Thank you xoxo
i love watching your vids , you make it look so easy i haven't done any of this as yet but going to start one day , as i love gemstones exstetra , i have to rivers near by and loads of bush and beaches in the mid north coast NSW, thanx for inspiring me and keep those vids coming , happy new year Liz . take care
Hi Liz, would you happen to know ; how can one polish a garnet similar to the crystal shown at 6:42 in the video ? or a link where I can find it ! Thanks in advance !!
pranav bhatt Hi Pranav, That one you're referring to at 6:42, I've only washed it with soap and water. I don't know of any link specific to garnet crystals but the process is the same as quartz crystals. Hope this helps. Cheers, Liz
Really enjoyed your video and garnet happens to be one of my favorite gemstone. I found a single stone that was beautiful and I made it into a necklace.
Did you find anything of facetting quality? These are very similar to the ones we found in Lady Margaret just outside Broken Hill . If you ever come to Broken Hill then come on one of our field trips. I think you can find the page on Wiki Pages under Broken Hill mineral club.
+MercyKilling1977 Only about 5% of the stones we found from here are faceting quality, but the crystals are very pretty. Would love to get my hands on one of those giant garnet crystals you've got your way. Might have to take you up on your offer one day. Thanks in advance. Cheers, Liz
Once you do this a couple of times, you develop an "Eagle Eye" skill...;-) Thanks for watching and commenting Luke and wish you all the very best. Cheers, Liz
Dear Liz, thank you for sharing those videos. I want to go rockhounding in an area that has no apparent crystal finds in the past. Where should I start ?
Hi Ms Liz, ever since i watched your vids i started to collect some rocks from my hike. but my problem is how to tumble them. May i ask what do you call that powder you used to put inside a rock tumbler?
I love your videos, interesting, knowledge filled and entertaining. I live in Alabama and was told there is a place in northern Alabama with Garnett but don't know where. Any environmental advice for location?
Hi Liz, thanks for the inspirations all the time. Really admire your passion in gemology. I am taking a diploma course from GAA after Christmas. Hopefully will be as professional as you guys. Cheers, Ben
You're welcome Benjamin. Glad our videos is of some inspiration for you. Sounds like it'll be a very engaging and fascinating course. Maybe you can teach me a few things after your course. Good luck and all the best, Liz
Liz Kreate Hi Liz, I'm from Tanzania, I liked your video, I have got some samples are very resemble with those you are showing. How can I show you for your advice. please! my private mail is hizza.david@gmail.com
The UK has garnets, try Ruby Bay. There is a youtube channel of a couple if ladies gathering gemy garnets on the beach there. I think they call it Northern Mudlarkers.
I'm not familiar with your location and what gemstones would be in your local region. If you look at your mines department records, they would show you where most of the gold and minerals were found in years gone by and any of these areas which produced previously should still produce today. All the best of luck with it. Cheers, Liz
+Desiree Wadsworth Gemstones can be found in a lot of countries Desiree. It's only a matter of research with regards to the locations nearest you. All the best, Liz
If only I could go... I would be delighted to find a Garnet Crystal... All I have right now are Amethyst Cluster... But I bought them which is horrible and I would totally dig and prospect for them... If I was old enough and if I had the money right now I would fly myself to Australia or The Gem Mines and work my ass off trying to ding gemstones, geodes, clusters, druzy, and Garnet Balls... But other than that... Great Video!... You earned a New Subscriber!
Thank you for watching Peridot Sanchez and thanks also for the sub. Just like I used to do, buying gemstones at first is a good way to get into the hobby as a means of familiarizing oneself with different gems and minerals. Prospecting for them yourself and finding something that no one else has touched or held before is an entirely different ball game. Good luck and hope you get to do some prospecting yourself when you get a bit older. Wishing you all the very best, Liz
Don't you want to industrialize a site like this when you find it? I mean Wal could come up with a gold-like sorting system and all you'd have to do is dump bucketloads in there to leave with truckloads of garnets everyday. They aren't super expensive so you'll have to depend on the quantity.
We only do this for a hobby and would not enjoy it anymore if we have to do this for a living. We'd rather explore the many different gemfields rather than have to stay in one area for an extended period of time.Cheers, Liz
Well, it's certainly seems like a profession in your videos. I guess, because you seem to mine more often then most hobbyist. I enjoy your videos. I've often wondered about the annual value in stones you think you accumulate. You don't have to answer of course, it just seems like you find quite a bit of stones and outside looking in it certainly looks as if it could be your "living". Green with envy! Lol
I had a quick google and found that there are many places in North Carolina where one can go hunting for gems. Most of them charge a small fee but one can find different types of gemstones and also garnet. Thanks for watching and commenting Justin and happy hunting. Cheers, Liz

Step 1: find a ruby
Step 2: find a sapphire
Step 3: make them fall in love with each other
Now you have a garnet
Mines not big....
I’m pretty sure I just need a Ruby and a sapphire..
I have 2 of those
