But if Roth is after tax...how do you know how much tax was taken out?

If you're asking what the income tax withholding in based on, it's your gross pay less the pre-tax deductions, including the Roth 401(k).

This is very helpful. I did notice a typo 3:44. Seems like the gross pay multiplied by the SS and Medicare tax numbers got switched?
