Next character essay will go snikt
Ah yes of course. Thank you for this enlightening knowledge. I also enjoyed the start of the description.
Logan
Aaww hell yes!!!
Please where can we vote for the next character ?
Wolverine
After 60+ major surgeries, that bar scene with Rocket still makes me cry. It's exactly how I've always felt.
Stumpy1 You are loved
Aww I hope you're alright
@@ImplicitlyPretentious I'm good, I've got an amazing support base and gf. After 37yrs I'm to stupid or stubborn to die! :)

This CG puppet is one of the best-developed characters still standing in the MCU.
Rocket is mo-cap. James Gunn's brother Sean acts him out on set, wearing green spandex and polka-dots. Sean got fifth billing in ENDGAME and he's not even on screen! Best job ever.
He is my favorite character. Yes, this CGI rodent is what makes me cry at 3 a.m.
I love how in Infinity War and Endgame, Rocket could just see through Thor's facade of using humour to hide his pain. As he was once in a similar state of mind. Using a facade to hide pain.Although Rocket's facade was being an asshole to everyone (excluding Groot). Which is something Yondo was able to see through. As he was in a similar state of mind at one point.
Rocket Raccoon even had a few mean things to say to Groot, which he actually felt bad about when Groot died.
You somehow manage to reveal the subtext in each characters story, and somehow i learn something about myself as a person seeing these things brought to light. Everysingle video essay is a masterpiece!
Holy cow, that's incredibly kind of you! Thank you!
I will never not tear up at the end of GoTG Vol 2.
"I didn't ask to get made! I didn't ask to be torn apart, and put back together over and over and turned into...some little monster!" now I get why I loved the quick team-up between Rocket and Bucky in Infinity War.
I think many can relate to Rocket. A tale all about insecurity, the toxicity of some of the ideals we latch on to as a source of comfort, but when the time comes, we must realize that to overcome these things, we have to accept the fact we deserve to be loved.
Aww that's a great encapsulating statement, I'm kinda wish I thought of it for the conclusion now! :)
I like Rocket more and more through every movie
love him
Excellent and perceptive as always. Rocket is by far one of the best things to come out of the MCU.
Thanks!
Thank you for another great video!
Poor Rocket, he's had a rough ride in the MCU. He found a family then lost all of them (Groot for the second time!). It really says a lot for his growth in the Guardians movies that when we see him after the time-skip in Endgame, he's fighting the good fight and has made new connections - Nebula, Carol, Natasha, maybe Rhodey and Okoye as well. They might not be a new family, but at least he cares enough to show up for holo-meetings and send emails. And he comes running to Earth when the Avengers suggest that the snap can be undone. I loved him from the prison escape scene, but he's come so far!
God dammit. Literally every one of your video essays are gold
Oh wow thank you so much! That's incredibly flattering! :)
I hope Guardians 3 will highlight Nebula's and Rocket's time together during the snap
"This is a Rocket who not only steals, but also shares."
Rocket: "You better not throw up on my ship."
I laughed way too hard at that…
I swear if Rocket dies in Vol.3....................................
Thank you for this insight into Rocket: helped me notice why I’m so drawn to him as his journey mirrors my own
I won’t spoil it but I really hope we get an update on this now that we have volume 3 because wow that is an emotional finale for our favourite raccoon
I thought I could never relate or understand the emotional pain Rocket was in in that bar scene. But after losing the key figures in my life simultaneously and working 50+ hours a week in an ER and taking college courses... I think I feel how he feels. Like Im being torn apart over and over emotionally. I love this character
Thanks for making this video, its much appreciated. Rocket is such an interesting character
lol. loving that abrupt intro cuts. keep it up sir. just letting you know that your channel grew on me over time.
Oh wow thanks! That's good to know, because I'm never ever sure how my editing comes off most of the time
@@ImplicitlyPretentious I personally like the cliched references. cutting it abruptly actually gives me a good chuckle.
Your content is sublime. This is so beautiful but it's very close to home. I have always felt ugly and worthless as a woman due to my childhood. I really resonate with rocket as a character. FYI. I keep watching this over and over lol
Are there really people who "push away anyone who's willing to put up with you because just a little bit of love reminds you of how big and empty that hole inside you actually is"?
Yes. I'm one of those. Deep seated trauma from being abandoned by my father and brother after my mother's death.
you're amazing bro. because of this, I see why Rocket was paired with an emotionally fragile god in retrieving the ether.
Aww thank you!
You're so well spoken and emotionally intuitive. I love all your videos
Oh wow thank you! I'm never sure if I make sense or how convoluted I write, so that's actually incredibly relieving to hear!
Man, you are the best therapist I have ever had
I’d really love to sit down and have conversations with you about movies like this. You’re very perceptive and methodical, which I love.
This video is so well-made and written omg 🥺 props to you, sir
I always forget Bradley cooper is in the MCU
He’s the character I connected with the most in the guardians of the galaxy films
He's grown so much that he gives pep talk to Thor...
This video was perfect! Please do another updated version of this.
In Vol 1, it seemed that Rocket would be just a Jerk With A Lonely Heart, but they went beyond that, and the others didn't exactly fix him with Friendship. (Rocket and Yondu are a remarkable pair, btw.)
Anyway, thank you for the essay. I hope I understood everything (I have been programming for over 40 years and neither byte nor token confuse me, but quotes like the 8:27 one I find barely understandable). And now for the Patreon page...
I don't think the writers of all the movies you make all these videos about have the same knowledge and clarity in the concepts like you do in order to work on character development driven by implementing all these specific ideas and theories. So, it really amazes me to see how these movies are coherent after being contrasted by all the studies you reference.
Interesting essay, great work man.
Thank you so much!
Rocket and groot's relationship gotta be the best thing ever. It's so beautiful, and when Groot was lost in the snap and he said to Groot "dad"... My heart...
You are the best video essayist out there
I preferred Rocket with the Avengers rather than the Guardians. I don't know, it just seems that after the first Guardians movie, he and Groot barely interact with their teammates.
Awesome video. You inspire me to make my own.
Aww thanks and good luck! I'd love to see it when you're done!
Implicitly Pretentious I am making one on Endgame this week. Do you have any tips?
I'd say just, break it down into as many small peices and possible, be it in the editing, to the structure of each paragraph of the essay, so the transitions between ideas always feels earned and are attended to :)
Thank you so much
Music selection and Editing...as always lit...
I've been WAITING for this man FINALLY
Oh wow, I hope it was up to snuff!
I loved this video, thank you

Exactly a hundred comments. So this is, at number 101. Just great that this channel can take the character and least interested in even though it's played by a great actor and turn him into...a poetic nexus...? Yeah, sure, let's go with that.
Next: Vision!
Interesting that this channel gets so much mileage out of these characters without reference the comic books (except so briefly in the Thanas video).
I tend to think the comic books are cheaper than the movies, but these videos really plumb the depths of the movies
Man, i like how you basically stretched the video to 10mins, while having no ads.
When Thor receives that eye from Rocket had me laughing 😂
Hey Leo, I enjoyed this video you done on rocket.
I love your videos man, keep up the great work!
Thank you!
Alwys just really really great stuff man. Thank you
I'm here because a friend said I remind them of rocket racoon. I see it, he's my favorite character too
Waiting for that GOTG 3 review!
I really love your channel :)
Thank you!
Keep up the amazing work! 💫
Thank you!
I really love your content, would be great to see you have a video analysis on The 100 characters
I feel like your accent automatically makes your analysis sound deeper than it is.
Regardless, I'm really digging the channel so far.
I’d love to get a Wes Anderson styled Vol 3, and i don’t know why

Very good Job Man ..
Can you do one on the characters of the series Mad Men ?
Thanks! And maybe one day, it completely depends on what people vote for
hey i was wondering, how do you find all of your sources for these videos (i would like to read them as i am interested in the topic (i try to read the ones that you talk about but a majority of them seem to be behind a paywall/membership thingy for the APA)), and are you in a psychology course? if so whats you main goal in doing it? has it helped you create these sorts of videos? or are you just generally passionate about making videos about psychologically inclined topics?
If you know anyone employed at a university, ask them for help in getting access to stuff. A lot of the stuff behind paywalls can be gotten via an institutional login because the institution pays for access in bulk.
Same, I love to see the references he puts
You made me realize how much I have in common with a digital raccoon. Fuck.
still out here with that beautiful voice
Wow 😊

We are Groot.
Has anyone read the first issue that featured Rocket?
I am Groot
Rocket’s ‘Growth’ I see what you did there!
intro music was way too loud
Thanks, I'll pay close attention to it in the next video
Please please darth vader
I think I'd lean a bit more towards doing Anakin, because it's perfect for a study of trauma. But I'm gonna wait a while for Star Wars to cool down before walking into that minefield
