The x-series pickups have much wider Headroom than their normal pickups. The CS stand for ceramic and steel because there's both kind of magnets and they both affect where the pickup reads. I really like your X Series I just put some in a Harley Benton PJ myself. I paid more for the electronics than I did for guitar but it sounds great.
@AMP It was the Warmoth he had made to his specs by his luthier. Why he wanted to sell it was a mystery, but he had suggested in one of his two videos about this bass that he envisioned modding it with EMG Les Claypool signature pickups & Hipshot Ultralight tuners. When I bought the bass I asked him if he wanted to do the mods he suggested & I'd pay for the parts & his labor... and he did a video on those mods before shipping it to me... The bass is a natural wood (I forgot which type!) & all the hardware is brass. It is an absolutely beautiful bass visually & sonically!
Yep, I really like that one ! Especially that kinda modernized JBass shape, which they took from the Aria Pro II 313 , but with a better headstock 😉 I'd prefer to have a splitable humbucker at the bridge, or at least a Series/Para switch, but it's fantastic as it is.
@@ampthebassplayer Yeah, especially since it's a rather small and light body (full scale bass still). Issue now is that it has noticeably less output than the P Pickup I swaped in 😅 10k vs 14.4k ... and you really feel it. I should have put two JBass pickups in series inside a single cover. It sounds fat and mean now.
@@ampthebassplayer that's the song that broke my almost 10 year dry spell of bass playing! I listened to a bunch of Steven Wilson stuff and when I heard Raven I HAD to learn the bass part to Luminol. Hearing it in the wild always puts a smile on my face, so thank you for that.
Great to-the-point video. Love the humour! Funny you should say it's a bit on the heavy side, as LowEndLobster said his was 8lbs, mine is 9.4lbs. A bit disappointing. Would you be able to weigh it and get back to him? I wonder if his scales are accurate!😊
You are right that's not fair... let me play it ..... for science....
I love science!
Luminol is one of my favorite bass lines of all time! It sounds sick as hell with this bass too.
Honestly one of the better review styles I've seen on this platform. Thanks for keeping it short and straight to the point!
I never want to waste anyone’s time, least of all mine. Thanks for the kind words!
Wow, that actually looks really killer and sounds good too. I’m impressed! Nice playing as well.
Thank you very much!

That should say how the pickup reads not where.
That bass feels like it’s a good budget Victor Wooten signature substitute. If not that it absolutely sounds like a punk rock machine
I'm so tempted to do a Rick o sound mod to that bass....
great review btw, thanks !
you wouldn't guess the price of that bass from the looks, also, that emg barks beautiful, glad it inspired you to play some indie rock
Lobster is the king of mods. I have one that he did for me & it's my favorite bass.
Oh nice! What kind of bass is it, and what mods did he do?

Right on! Sounds killer!
@AMP Look for LEL's videos on the Warmoth (3 total) & you'll see/hear it.
really sounds killer!
A bit light on bridge pick up. I was surprised how bright is sounded when on the neck pick up.
I like it.

That sounds so rad, actually.
Very cool! That bridge pickup looks massive!

Love the bass line from Luminol!
I was wondering if anyone would recognize that one!

Nice! I’m just getting into Steven Wilson, but it sounds like I’ve got a lot of good things awaiting.
@@ampthebassplayer Yes you do. Happy listening! Hand. Cannot. Erase is my favorite album but there is a lot more to love too.
I recognized it instantly! Nick Beggs is a beast!!! Nice job emulating his tone
Good lord, there's only one word to describe this P pickup. N-A-S-T-Y
Right? Super gnarly!
Sweetness!!!
After all those great mods I would hope it would end up being pretty sweet.
It would suck to spend all that money and end up with a lemon lol
Has some Geddy-like tone imo
Definitely! It just begs you to dig into it with how clanky it is.
Sweet!!!
I thought that was Lobster's bass from the thumbnail. It sounds great 👍
That sounds pretty darn good! 👍 😊
Low does good stuff

I’m going purely off feel, but I should probably weigh it lol
Where did you found these precision pickups satin-chrome covers?? I've been look for it for so long!
I auditioned for the Pink Floyd gig with that bass. They didn't hire me.
Their loss
