  • A verse-by-verse study of Mosiah 7-10, which recounts Ammon's discovery of the people of Limhi and Zeniff's experiences in the Land of Nephi. In this lesson we examine the importance of "likening" the scriptures, Hansen's Law as related to intergenerational faith, reactivation efforts, and some of the causes of inactivity. Part 1 of a 2-part series to accompany your weekly Come Follow Me study of the Book of Mormon.

Thanks so much for this introduction. It always seemed confusing for me and no matter how many notes I’ve made I’ve still been confused about these groups. Thanks so much for clarifying this

I’m glad you told the story about inactive members of the church because I Stray from the church for over 30 years.
I got into a Group of people of the church basically it was Institute.I was always into the Bible all my life.
When I was an institute I was getting back into work the Scriptures. The people were very warm and concern for me. I felt welcomed and loved. They were very patient with me going back to church.

Another great lesson. What's this great technology I would think we could move forward in the gospel of a lot faster and review over and over again videos with the scriptures to be strengthened even more. What a blessed time in history❤

I served a mission in Japan in the mid 80's. Pretty much the entire country closes down Jan 1-3, so my mission president had a reading schedule for the missionaries (both English & Japanese) - with a challenge to read the BofM in what he called... 10 Days Of Truth. I did it both January's I was there. For the members in the mission, they were given a 30-day challenge. When you read so quickly, cannot really "study" the concepts and doctrine. However, what a great overview of the entire book it brought!! The confusions in Mosiah you spoke about... no longer confused about the sequence or people. Not saying everyone should do that - but for me it was a great way to end my mission (came home January 15th - less than a week after the 2nd 10-day challenge)!!

Love this! So true. The "fly-over" approach to scripture study grants us insights that the "nature-hike" approach just can't (and vice-versa). The Book of Mosiah always confused me until I just sat down one day and read it all in one sitting. Your 10 Days of Truth sounds amazing!

I listened and read the Book of Mormon in the 24 hour challenge that seminary students are often challenged with and a lot of the book made more sense to me. I did sleep in between sittings though so it took me 2 days. Then when I went back and started again I got it!

Even thought the church has done some things to me that have outright angered, or should I say, deeply disappointed me, I must remember the Heavenly Father sets my direction. His purpose sometimes is not clear to me but I have to trust in Him. After all He is a lot smarter than I am. Thank you for the lesson and look forward to part 2.

I know what you mean, Henry. The imperfections of the Church can be frustrating and difficult, but it's amazing to see the Lord working through imperfect people. There's something about His character there that's important for us to learn. Good thing you've always been a good student of His.

Where can I find a doctionary from 1830? I think that would be useful for my own study. I remember coming across the word "teasing" and wondering if it had a different meaning back then . You Brother Jared are a masterful teacher and I sense that is because you are also a masterful student.
    Thank you
