I disagree. With Sheryl the group became a trumpet-like quality in their harmonies, a very high soprano range and a great vibrato on top that made their harmony work even stronger. And additionally her voice is a better, what means bigger contrast to Janis.
I think Laurel was the best soprano..such a clear voice. Manhattan Transfer not quite as good as when she left. Though still a fantastic group.
