I just got my first ball Python and it is a Mojave. (idk if its a male or female yet) It was a very vibrant yellow stripe with a couple of symmetrical circles on its side, and a beautiful creamy brown body that fades to a white belly!
My big Mojave female, Geraldine, as turned twenty years old in June. She is my largest Ball Python. Last time she bred was 2018. Perhaps I will try again in 2022 for one last time.
Almost every one of my snakes have some irradiance to them. My bamboo cinnamon enchi has a red and gold effect to her head. The only ones I really haven't seen it is in my two bright snakes. A Firefly and Super orange dream pastel spider. 15 dark and the 2 brights.
I love Mojave hands down my favorite gene. I have few on morphmarket right now. I have a Mojave enchi pastel and a Mojave pastel on there currently. I have a couple more Mojave enchi pastels but I am not sure I am selling them.
Thank you so much, recently got into ball pythons and wanting to start breeding and at the moment I have a male Ghost Mojave and I’m in the process of getting some females so I’m trying to see what I can produce
Hey Chris, Me and my son, are named Chris too. We're huge fans of you're channel. We're wanting you're knowledge I just bought a young male spider/pastel/mojave ball for my teenage son today! If I breed it to another Mojave female, what are my chances on getting a BEL, and will the other traits show visuals? Kinda worried about the "head wobble" because of the spider. The snake we bought today, has no wobble. You're thoughts? We're noobs lol 😆
Crazy how Mojave and fire don't make a BEL... Also I have several ball pythons with an iridescent Sheen. Enchi HGW, Mojave, Classic/normal, enchi spark, special het pied, and yellow belly het pied. The sheen is found on the darker snakes, most prominent right after shedding. What's odd is that you could see it on albino
My purple passion (mojave, phantom) has a blue iridescence shine to it sometimes, mainly on the head. And his eyes are legit silver. It will someday be bred to my female butter, pastel, 4/8 will be B.E.L.♡
Yea, I really like it too! It's super complicated though. It's actually two recordings, one is a screen capture using OBS (free software). The other smaller video of my head is shot with my Canon 77D. I'm also using a 'green screen' behind me, essentially a green backdrop that you can make transparent. The hard part about a green screen is getting out all the wrinkles and having it properly illuminated. You really need at least four studio lights to do it right, I'm using three lights and it was a struggle to get it dialed in. Five or six separate lights would be better. Then I put it all together in Adobe Premiere Pro using the 'Ultra Key' effect to make the green screen transparent. Took me forever to figure it all out!
Beginner breeder have a Male coral glow het pied can you do a video of what Gene's would mix could was thinking of getting a few normals just to up my females
My special BP has an iridescent head! Hey Chris can you please do a video on iridescent scales? It reminds me of the case with the scaless snakes. Some are scaless on the head only. Wonder what that's about 😕😄
THEORY I think that ball pythons have three pigments. dark brown/black, orange/light red, and yellowish green. i believe the mojave gene injects more of the greens as well as consolidates the colors. it separates them creating a cleaner more high contrast palate. people often describe the yellow as "yellower", "vibrant", or "lighter". it think they are picking up on the light green which gives it a golden or higlighter like appearance. also, it think a lot of the blushing on mojaves are due the oranges being concentrated along the sides of the snake. it seems the gene concentrates the green at the top surrounded by black and then the oranges down the side. this is why i think the ghi mojave is so magical. ghi seems to have more green than a normal. it takes all those greens and reds that are muddied up and separtes them. idk. just thinking out loud
I have a two different ball pythons a mojave and a phantom and when i got them they both had iridescent colors like pinkish purple colors i mean not like a Brazilian Rainbow boa but they did have some iridescents not as much now that there getting older but they definitely have iridescents
I have a BEL with an iridescent sheen. As of yet I don't know what genes actually made her. As soon as she's up to weight I'm crossing her with a normal.
I love Mojaves, Mystics, GHIs and BELS! I have a pair of mojaves, a Mojave lesser BEL, a GHI female and a Mystic Potion Male. I have fires, enchis, pastel ghost and super yellow Belly to add to it in the future. I want to add orange dream too!
As of right now I want to get a pastave male to go to a lesser pastels and a lemon blast. I want to make lucyies and a bunch of super pastels. I specifically want to breed for a reduced pattern supper pastave and a reduced patern super pastel jigsaw.
Honestly my only problem with the Mojave ball python is what happens when I tell someone I have a female Mojave ball python, i’ve had this exact conversation so many times LOL Me: she’s a Mojave Other: a Mojave what? Me: just a Mojave Other: oh… so what are you going to breed her with? Me: I don’t breed Other: oh……… why did u get a normal looking snake then? Me: because she’s pretty Other: but it just looks like a normal tho……. THIS WILL GO ON FOREVER!!!!
@@ChrisHardwickanimaladventures well I live all the way in Minnesota so I wouldn't be able to talk to you in person. Plus I'm looking for a ball python mentor
I have an enchi VPI axanthic ball python who has an iridescent sheen, especially on the dark banding and his head. It's especially noticeable right after he has shed.
Can you possibly do a video based on scale rot? Causes, how to cure it, and how to identify(if you havent already). Reason I ask is because I may potentially have a ball python with scale rot, although it hasn't gotten any worse, nor has it gotten better. I cant tell if she just has substrate under scales or what. Also, how to start breeding ball pythons, how to throw them into breeding mode and how to know when theyre ready. How to prepare for breeding, what to do during the breeding process(temp, humidity, feeding, etc.) Just the whole shebang! Hope all is well! (:
Scale rot is a bacterial infection It happens because an area of the reptile's scales is too moist and/or there has been a failure to properly clean the cage out. Start by getting rid of substrate and all decor in cage if not using rack system. Disinfect everything top to bottom look up F10SC Veterinary Disinfectant. Use paper towels as substrate and try and keep humidity low. Keep repeating this process of cleaning and disinfecting and using the paper towels till you see it clearing up. Hope this helps
@@matthewjames513 Thank you!!! 😊😊😊its very very minor, right at the tip of her nose and shes had it since she arrived on my door step. I really appreciate the advice. Dually noted!! 😁 I'm honestly waiting for her next shed to see if it'll come off, if not, I will make a vet visit. I know what scale rot is, just in this case its just hard to tell because of where it is located. I have 3 other snakes I have never had a this issue with so I'm being VERY cautious! My big boyo had substrate under his scales and I was freaking out because I thought it was scale rot and LUCKILY it was not, lol. But again, I appreciate the info very much!
Chris Hardwick you didn’t list the beat example of the Mojave gene which is the cherry bomb or red eyed Lucy which is albino blued Lucy (super Mojave albino) it’s so rare that they are not listed on morph market last one I seen was sold in Europe for $1500 it’s a 3% chance to hit the combo you can make it by breeding 2 Super Mojave het albinos or 2 Mojave albinos the another insane Mojave combo is the Mojave ghi orange ghost I seen one on morph market that sold for $3500
That's awesome! When I do these morph videos I usually have way too many examples and have to cut out half or more to keep within a reasonable watch time. I usually go with the ones that have the best photos LOL.
I am a beginner I got just a single Gene girl Mojave but I bought two males pastel het hypo Firefly that other one is a pastel hat hypo Firefly vanilla long story but the first one was supposed to have the vanilla in it and it didn't so dude how to give me another one with the vanilla in it but I'm glad you made this video cuz it shows me a lot of stuff then I'm ready to do it this girl
Depends on how many are available and how many people are trying to sell the same thing for a slightly lower price. If there's just one or two out there they can sell for more. Pricing is tricky.
Hey man I was wondering if you could help me determine if my snakes are normals or Mojaves. I don't know if you'll see this comment but if you do I'd super appreciate it!
I think Mojave is my favorite gene right now, pairing a female with a spinner this fall and I have a male that will be paired next year. Not about the money, I just like them.
Love the morph series. Still waiting on the Jedi morph lol
My normal has that sheen. Like a oil on water look in the light

Has anyone produced a lavender super mojave? I wonder if it would have a purple head.
My purple passion (mojave, phantom) has a blue iridescence shine to it sometimes, mainly on the head. And his eyes are legit silver.
It will someday be bred to my female butter, pastel, 4/8 will be B.E.L.♡
I would really like to see you go over the special morph! Not too many people have much info on it.
I love Super Mojaves because of the grey heads! Mystic Potions are really cool, too.
My phantom is iridescent. I paired her with my shatter. I'm hoping the babies come out with iridescence also!
I got a Mojave mystic for my first snake. She’s so damn pretty
I'm thinking about getting a mojave pastel. Super excited
That's awesome! 👍

Another great video. I'm currently trying to purchase as many normal females as I can afford to start my own project. Thanks for all the knowledge.
One of my BPs is very iridescent! You can see it out in the sun just like my rainbow boa! I’m excited to see what his offspring looks like next year!!
Interesting!
Loved it from day 1 but since I've been collecting again I have yet to pick one up

Not really, I'll be at the Denver Repticon on October 19-20, 2019. Other than that I only do UA-cam comments, not much time for anything else LOL
