Looks like brv is the underdog on this mpv's but still i purchase brv. Ive test drive this mpv's in my opinion brv is still confident to drive uphill or highways..
I suggest doing a rolling acceleration instead, like 60kph to 100 since its more useful in real life scenarios like overtaking rather than a launch from 0.
While we already did that in a previous Big Test (see the three-way midsize SUV episode), you still raise a very good point. We’ll consider that for our next comparos, especially for these budget-friendly people-haulers.
For me BRV is the winner..you guys also will consider type of transmission..BRV is the highest HP but due to CVT transmission is getting slow in gaining speed but for me its more safer avoiidibg damage to transmission
Dapat naka sport mode para makita talaga lakas ng makina. Pag drive mode kasi tapos eco talagang mahina humatak yan. Unless lahat yan manual transmission.
BR-V can do 0-60 in under 6 seconds when in Sports Mode, and whereas the slow acceleration in Drive mode is a tuning for better fuel efficiency, hence it got the highest rating among other crossovers in its class.
2023 xpander gls owner here. i was rooting for the honda brv sana but seeing its cargo space, i didn’t regretted choosing the xpander. besides, it was offered at a discount with the best freebie (2 years of PMS for both parts and labor). great looks; ride comfort is great; acceleration is good as well and fuel consumption is nice (compared to my 2018 avanza). best value for money in my opinion.
How's your experience po with the stargazer, does it feel premium when inside the car and also, hows the fuel economy so far? Honestly, we like it naman sana kaya lang yung exterior looks and that dashboard is causing stir in the family hahah
Seeing the Veloz and Xpander having only 1 point against each other doesn't really surprise me. Those two our are choices before we love the Veloz's features but ended up buying the XP Cross beacuse the ride on the XP cross is much more refine, comfortable and quieter while the Veloz is a little bit ratly and the noise reduction is as good as in our Toyota Wigo also the XP Cross has more ground clearance which we really need on where we live. So yeah no regrets on our side
Comparo we've been waiting for🎉 Yung Xpander Cross parang make-up Xpander GLS lang din naman. Wala halos pinagkaiba unlike before na mas mataas ang ground clearance ng Cross at McPherson Strut ang suspension. Pero ngayon pareho na sila ng GLS variant. Same goes with Veloz, para siyang top of the line ng Avanza since avanza built for lower class na puro hard plastics😂 ofcourse with Toyota safety sense Meanwhile yung BRV ang laki ng price bump pero andun pa din naman yung power, tech and comfortability with Honda Sensing. Pero mainam kung ginawa na nila Auto Brake Hold at Electronic Parking Brake para premium looks like Xpander. Pero with this comparo I'd go with Stargazer. It has power and everything. Kumbaga balance lang siya. 😅
Now here's my take on these 4 MPVs: BR-V Pros: No doubt, the most feature-packed among the bunch. Most powerful figures, on paper. Cons: Despite being most powerful, had the longest 0-60 km/h time. Space is quite cramped. Stargazer Pros: Futuristic exterior design. Unconventional dashboard design. Fastest 0-60 km/h time. The most spacious cabin. Tall headroom. Well-tuned IVT. Cons: To be honest, it's quite hard to find any major disadvantage on this Hyundai MPV. Maybe the availability of third party parts? Veloz Pros: Being a Toyota, third party parts are readily available. Ambient lighting. Cons: Sedan-like ground clearance. Low headroom. Rather cheap interior design. No cruise control. Xpander Cross Pros: Being a Mitsubishi, as well as being the oldest of the bunch, third party parts are readily available. Highest ground clearance. Cons: No doubt, the least feature-packed among the bunch. Old-school 4-speed auto. Nothing really setting apart from the Xpander GLS variant that truly matters. Too expensive. Ever since the Stargazer was introduced and came out, I instantly fell in love with it, upon seeing it first on the internet. And when we got to test drive it, it was... heaven. Too bad we didn't get it, for my family decided on the Xpander GLS, all on the basis of high ground clearance. Not bad, but especially my older brother, he said he wished we could've waited a bit longer for the Xpander Cross because clearly it was his most favorite. Which would've been a not-so-smart choice had we gone for the Xpander Cross. And I can't help but drool at every Stargazer that passes by. It surely is a looker.
Good comparo! But since you are comparing a 7-seater MPV, the sitting comfort of the 3rd row is really important factor that must be shown and evaluated. It is a big factor in decision-making for a 7-seater.
Cant wait for Part 2. This is a very very good episode, very helpful. We dont see much Stargazers on the road, but based on part 1, it is a surprise winner - and a lot of the 7 MPV buyers actually miss out if they don’t put this in their shortlist
considering our road conditions here in PH with narrow streets and eskenitas, 360 cam is more useful than cruise control which you will only use in expressway
Not surprised with the SG, put it in Sport or Smart mode and the IVT really performs. The Veloz would really have an easier time to load items inside since the ground clearance isn't really high. Looks premium but some real-life feedbacks tell otherwise with build quality. BR-V is tech loaded but that's because it's the VX model. The V would've been better, but I get that it might fall too short already when compared to the rest. The CVT, which everyone thinks is a big advantage, turns out to be the Honda's weakness. Xpander Cross looks like it has an expensive pricetag too but afaik it has the biggest discount offerring as well, may still lack in extra features but refinement and build quality wise, Mitsubishi surely didn't cut costs on that. And Anton could've felt better closing the tailgate with the 3rd row reclined fully back, if nakaharap lang yung bag towards the tailgate so no one would worry about damages and still see that it would still close. 😁 Good comparo, tho hopefully the part 2 would be better 😀
I drive a Black Xpander Cross in Indonesia. It is sad to discover in your show here that the Xpander Cross there in the Philippines has not included features such as 360 deg camera view, wireless compartment, and the 9 inches screen center car display when those features are all available in Indonesian Cross variants. Indonesian variant also uses the CVT while Philippines has the AT. I hope Philippines will have an option that includes all those features soon.

Xpander Cross for me, can't wait for the HEV version, wish they add a 50HP E-Motor in the rear making it AWD with Mitsubishi's S-AWC or just add the Eclipse Cross's 1.5T.
Durability of parts like shocks, bushings, rotor disks, ball joints etc. Engine longevity as well. Spare parts availability. Aircon, condenser life span…. These matters most, how do you make a review bout this?
Great test, I especially liked the cargo test(I would contend however that the BRV has too much going on with that load cover and there is a chance it can break under heavy load) and that despite Honda trying to make the fastest MPV, it didnt pan out that way. One thing though, why wasnt the Suzuki XL7 included in this test?
Does the Honda BR-V have adaptive cruise control WITH LOW-SPEED FOLLOW as indicated in your video? I thought it doesn't have low-speed follow. Can someone please confirm. Thanks.

The toyota and honda both looks so classy
Xpander Cross for me, can't wait for the HEV version, wish they add a 50HP E-Motor in the rear making it AWD with Mitsubishi's S-AWC or just add the Eclipse Cross's 1.5T.
Durability of parts like shocks, bushings, rotor disks, ball joints etc.
Engine longevity as well.
Spare parts availability.
Aircon, condenser life span….
These matters most, how do you make a review bout this?
This was an awesome review. Thanks guys!
you can't go wrong on any of those, preference nalang talaga nag mamatter dyan looks at sa budget
I just purchased Brv VX and I swear it’s quicker than in the video😂 even with people up to the 3rd row, it’s not this weak in the video😂😂😂
So true
Sorry was this 0 to 60 mph or kph?
Great Comparo! Can you also do this kind of Comparo for crossovers, ex: Stonic, Raize, MS. Thanks!
Why you guys didn't tackle ride comfort?? And also what lance1610 mentioned, the rolling acceleration 60 to 100 test makes sense.
Wag masyado atat, may part 2 pa, lol
Halatang acceleration test lang pinanood lol
It's the veloz for me. given that they it has "power" mode option and resell value for toyota is good.
Where is the suzuki ertiga and xl7 nissan livina? Isnt a mpv too?
Ganda ng review. the best! Add nyo na lng po yung pag testing ng Noise and yung paahon naman po.
Wait I thought Hyundai has Smart Cruise Control. Is that the same with adaptive Cruise control?? It works the same.
I hope Part 2 will feature an Uphill Test with at least 5 passengers.
Better 7 passenger.
Xpander owner here in the Philippines and I'm surprised. Did you mention there's no cruise control coz mine's certainly have it
Wow very nice comparison right here! Best i ever seen so far. Please do something like this in sedans as well! ❤
Next BIG TEST sana Geely Coolray SE, GAC EMZOOM RSTYLE, MG ZS-T, CHANGAN CS35+. Ganitong quality review ang deserve ng likes and subs!
Does the Honda BR-V have adaptive cruise control WITH LOW-SPEED FOLLOW as indicated in your video? I thought it doesn't have low-speed follow. Can someone please confirm. Thanks.
More content like this please. MPVs segment comparo! 😄
In doing 0-60, let one of the passenger time it, para focus sa driving (and flooring) si driver.
Kudos, Top Gear! 😊 Thanks for the new perspective.
by the way this is the best comparison ever in the segment but for my heart i still love the veloz 🥰😊
Was surprised that the BRV is the slowest despite of its higher HP
nice review. we just got approved for an sg 😊
Why is Suzuki Ertiga not on there? I would understand not including Nissan Livina but Ertiga missing?
Excited for part 2
On speed i think. BrV got rob. They only use D which is eco mode always. They should have use S then use the paddle shift...
Yeah. My BRV does not run this slow😂 even with 6 people.
Finally I'm really waiting for this video
Wow you nailed this review top gear! Looking forward for the part 2 ❤
May part 2 na pala haha
5:58 did I see it right? the BRV has a full tank of gas? no wonder it lagged behind.
Playing the big role is the driver, regardless of the vehicle type.
Here in Abroad they have a lot of expensive cars but also a lot of arrogant drivers.
But all in all it was a nice reviews.
bakit yung stargazer naka smart mode? dapat lahat naka normal mode and test din sa sports mode lahat same para patas sa acceleration test.
When is part 2 ? This is so informative specially for car buyers
best reviews, I really like it. thanks, guys
Nice tests, sana sinali ang Ertiga Hybrid.
They did not include Nissan Livina hehe very good segment.thanks much
Why release only now? 😝 I already purchased an mpv
Where is the Jetour ?
analog kasi ung brv kaya magkaiba ng reading yan, mas maganda sana kung pinagsabay sabay nyo ng takbo
BR-V is using CVT. Might as well take that into consideration during acceleration 😄
