I watch a bunch of HS content, especially UA-cam stuff. Firebat is my absolute favorite amongst them. He's been around forever and he's fun... While being very good at explaining decisions.
Yes, OMG! I love Firebat slideshows! I swear, if Firebat decided to tour the world with these slideshows and give lectures on how to play Hearthstone, I would buy tickets for every show. So informative and insigthful and entertaining and great! :D
I loved this format of video, getting insight of a pro player about the meta and how I should analyze and plan to build a deck. I hope for more videos like this in the future!
The format, quality, and depth of information in this video is amazing. Thank you so much for putting out a video like this. I would love to see more videos in this kind of PowerPoint breakdown style with included probabilities and card break downs.
Firebat, I’ve been watching you for a long time and I think this may be your best video yet. Timely, well researched and paced, serious but informal. Great job 👍
I'm so thankful Team 5 asks you to make these Essentials videos, this one was absolutely fantastic and the one from Rise of Shadows was just as good, if not better. Keep up the great work James, these two videos specifically are a big step up from the quality of basically anything else Hearthstone-related that can be found on UA-cam.
These videos really make me want to know Firebat's degree/background before hearthstone. These discussions are fucking excellently put together, the amount of information on each slide, the way it's broken down turn by turn in a digestible way, the different options and perspective (classes, combo vs aggro, etc). Really great speaker, feels like he has experience giving talks at conferences and such, for scientific or other background.
How to beat any other class: Decide on a strategy (value or tempo game) and then execute that plan, playing around their 2 board clears and likely removal cards. How to beat Warrior: See 26 minute tutorial from world-class Hearthstone player.
to be fair beating warrior is 5 second answer. Analysis is just so that you can keep building on it. after all. it was the same answer as last expansion. And last before. And before. And one before that. Pretty much since CW was a thing, if you could make a combo deck, that thing would typically win.
I'm having success vs Control Warrior with Quest Shaman featuring Mojomaster Zihi. If I can prevent them from having 10 mana, both with Zihi and then repeating it with Shudderwock, they no longer have the benefits of Omega Devastator and Omega Assembly. Furthermore it limits their options each turn, even after Boom, while I use double battlecries to summon threats and deal damage to their face.
Turn 3 could play harvest golem vs the restless mummy, the 2/3 - 2/1 eats his 3/2 - 3/1, since it's a mech and has 3 health/w deathrattle, it'll be hard for him to deal with...
That's really interesting! I always thought about deck archtypes and what counters what, but never thought about the actual gameplan of each archtype. looking at control warrior that way gave me inspiration to find an aggro deck that can counter their gameplan and win before turn 7. if you look at what they play till turn 5 it's always 1/3 or 1/2 into restless mummy. eggs play around that plan perfectly! they don't die to the one drops, and don't give the warrior any armor from the rover, and restless mummy doesn't want to pop them, and even if it does, it doesn't die and can't attack again. so basically i just had to find a deck that can utilize eggs that stick on the board. well guess what, that deck exists and it's pretty strong, it's token druid. i would submit my deck to deck doctor (which by the way i love and watch every episode of) but i don't have a twitter account, so i'm just gonna drop it off here (I don't mind if you just take the idea and try to improve it regardless of deck doctor) :D egg druid: AAECAZICAq8En7cDDtMB/QL3A+YFmPsCiYADjIADxIkDw5QDzpQDypwDr6IDvaYD9KcDAA==
This is a great video and highlights the weaknesses and strengths of warrior. But my problem with warrior or Dr boom is not that it's unbeatable, it's that it shuts down viability of any other control deck. Yes, quest paladin is a control deck and great against warrior and is doing well because warrior is a good portion of the ladder, but it suffers against most other decks. Any control deck that hopes to beat warrior has to sacrifice every other match up in the process. That aint healthy man.
Im gonna be honest, when you were talking about option 1, turn 5, you were like "keep them off a mech, have more than 5 health worth of minions, and not too many minions for the brawl value" im just like "so uh, just lose" lmao great vid tho
I liked the format of this video. You should do this more often. Also, I'm opening a petition for Blizzard to change the name of restless mummy for relentless mummy :)
I really enjoyed my variant of Bomb Warrior that i used to climb from 10 to 5 so far and ive been messing around with a bunch of fun stuff. literally the only changes I've made from your standard bomb warrior from last set is turning the militia commanders into mummies and turn one elekk into spellbreaker (that was inspired by being outvalued by quest paly) it adds great pressure in the early turns with clockwork goblin on 3
Other notable 3 drops would be nightmare amalgam and Hench-clan thug. If nothing else, they force the restless mummy to go 1 for 1. Also getting a siamat with divine shield and windfury before omega devastator comes online can put control Warrior in an awkward position where they have to use multiple cards to remove it.
I've been having pretty good luck with highlander quest Rogue. Has great ways of dealing with early game, the quest reward and rush things you have help in the mid-game (hopefully with Zephyrs to help with those bigger mid to late game power spikes some decks have), and then Tess + Lab Recruiter's generally enough late-game power. I've actually been having more trouble with Highlander Hunter than anything; board tends to be pretty back-and-forth, usually with me edging out ahead, and then Brann comes out on seven, deals eight to my face, eats up a bunch of my resources, and then I just get ground down from hero powers and Zephyrs. They honestly strike me as a much scarier deck than control Warrior right now.
I have been having tons of fun farming control warriors with mechathun quest warlock. Not the best against aggressive decks, but sometimes those matchups are winnable too because there is so much healing in the deck.
I believe that aside Dr.Boom one of the strongest cards that Warrior has is Brawl, if they were to nerf it by 1 mana every class would get 1 more turn to push for lethal or at least set it up. Playing around execute and the new plague is quite easy, and I feel is a card that you can at least interact with
One card i like using in warrior is beryllium nullifier. It just guarantees a mech to be stupidly sticky and can immediately jam face every turn. In aggressive match ups you just bolster any mechs that want to stick to the board like eternium rover, taunts, or zilliax.
KTOWNPUNK jr. the card is nice for when you just can’t seem to draw dr. Boom. Might as well switch to the plan of swinging a giant hunk of metal at their face.
KTOWNPUNK jr. well obviously you don’t just drop it on the board, but it’s good enough to magnetize to your mechs which can generally stick just due to how many of them you have.
KTOWNPUNK jr. i have a security rover and a safeguard in place of goblin personally, so that would probably explain it. A lot of circumstances pop up where he can just steal the show and make a huge mech that just takes a lot of resources to actually answer. At the very least, it’s better than running say tomb warden if you aren’t running handbuffs if you ask me. Since it gives more flexibility.
So what’s the best way for quest shaman to win vs warrior? Push 100% for value? Pressure and try to land a vessina/bloodlust to burst them in the mid game?
I've had some success with the value approach. I also run two copies of plague of murlocs in case in the late game boom makes too many massive mech. Honestly it's the only game where Hagatha actually does anything. The double horror into double horror powers is a lot for warrior. Particularly taking things like eureka and rain of toads.
@@Bromeleon Thanks for the reply! Didn't see it until now. Unfortunately I don't have Hagatha or Barista so my value game is limited. I have been eying plague of murlocs though, especially since I've been running into a fair amount of priest and quest paladin as well. I think I'll test it as a one-of, and see how it goes.
Highlander Hunter does great. I don’t have issues with Warrior unless I get zero early game. Normally a Brann on curve is a win because they can’t tempo an appropriate answer and are behind the rest of the game
I feel like shaman quest should do pretty well, you always have value in hand and you have a pretty good early game so you can have them on the back door the entire game
It's pretty good to keep if you already have a 1 drop, but assuming you don't have one (which you generally won't) the 2/2 on 2 is just not enough tempo to justify keeping. Having the 1 drop on 1 is way more important than a 2/2 on 2.
I actually am having a good win rate with quest rogue. Having tess and togwaggle scheme making a bunch of copies, warrior cant clear everything if you keep filling your board with 10 or more tess
The expansion has so many aggro decks with insane value. Rogue can flood the board and clear yours almost every turn. If you dont curve perfect you lose.
It never was, control warrior has so much removal that even if mage can keep a giant on the board long enough to khadgar and calling it just gets warpathe\wrathed or brawled the next turn. Warrior needs a nerf soon, hopefully we see it before next year.
Thanks for all the feedback guys n gals :)
