The Asp is pure class, always celebrating his opponents when they do well and an incredible player himself. Credit to Littler for trying to shush the boos, I know he's got a huge following but the lad remains so humble.

Undisputed greatest grass court player of all time but still happy for his opponent when he wins. Unfortunately most people aren't like Asp and Federer, but there are a few of us who can feel genuine happiness for some else's success.
He wasn't "thrown in", its not like he was a wild card or something, and it was some mad decision or gamble, he EARNED his place by reaching the World final! Didn't just drop out the sky like! 🤦♂️

Reaching a world championship final does not earn you a premier league spot right away (Kerk Shepherd for example), and I can guarantee you they will have talked about this with Luke beforehand, since the premier league has burnt out a fair amount of players. If it was a good decision or not remains to be seen. Yes, he has won the world youth championship before his appearance in the final of the world darts championship, and he was always going to be a contender for a spot, but giving a spot to a seventeen-year-old is still a big thing that should not be taken lightly. It puts a lot of stress on him, whether or not he can handle that, maybe even likes it, or if it does harm in the long run, is yet to be seen.

As an American, I love Luke the Nuke. We don't have darts in the U.S. (at this level). Same with snooker. Luke Littler is very much like the Rocket---a prodigy. You're lucky to have more than football, baseball, and basketball.

Everyone said the same about Gerwen v Taylor 10-12 years ago, then came Ando, Wright&Price to the oche and rocked their places on it too. No one thought 3 years ago that every single bit of victory would be a lifeline for Wright, yet here we are. I think it's unwise to make preconceptions that long of time.

Even when Wright was world champion he changed darts every set that's just not sustainable imo What I admire most about Luke's (Humphries more to be fair) is that the release from H just looks so repeatable every time that his scoring will always be there Littler making some changes but he already has a pedigree about him. I do proceed with some caution with Littler because only 3 years ago everyone thought Josh Rock was going to be the next big thing and it ruined him. Humphries will dominate for a long time now I think because he's already won everything so the pressure valve is already lifted.

I think at the end of the season the league will show that two new stars are dominating darts for the next few years, in Littler and Humphries. After taking the game to new standards MVG and Price are still capable rivals of course, but they look to be feeling the pressure too. The two Lukes could be the guys to take the next step.
