- Howdy fellow adventurers, We finally did it. Wavey and I are starting the great loop. We decided to launch into the St. Croix River (Hudson), which is just about as far North as anyone can start the great loop without starting in Superiorland. I decided to share some of what it takes to pull off moving onto the rivers for 6 months...solo. Since we all know the beagle isn't much help. :) Thanks for coming along--we're just getting started...

That boat ramp sign is about as unfriendly as any I’ve ever seen !
It seems public is not so public as time goes on. More admin RULES replace LAW. its disgusting.
I love that you talked about how important a relationship with God is!❤
Our defender;)
@@backwatersandbackroads 💝
Brenton, so pleased to see this adventure begin…I can once again start living vicariously through you. God speed to you, I am sure you have a guardian angel keeping watch, and safe travels.
"to live deliberately"!
Chico tunnels under the bed covers and makes himself a cave. I know it's him because I touch a pile and hear, "GrrGRRRRrr" which means "wha cha want?"
Very much looking forward to this series. THANKS!!
Just started watching the series from the beginning. Hudson Wi and Stillwater Mn were my old stomping grounds when I worked for Andersen Windows(Bayport Mn.) Spent quite a few nights at the Hudson House Hotel back in the late 70's - 80's. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
@@clermontcubby9207 Thanks for joining us. Welcome.
I love the sound of the river under the hull. Thank you so much for sharing your trip.
I love that sound too ;) the water talking to you.
And just like that the adventure has begun. No need to rush it, slow and steady. You have already won the race brother.
Congratulations! What a great day for you and Wavy! You have Jesus smiling on you!
Exciting stuff, Wavey looks like she is a happy girl. Will be praying for your health and safety on this trip. You are truly living the dream.
Feeling better, right about now? I'm happy for you. And Wavey.
Another Great Video. Looking forward to the adventure… I cant figure out why you don’t have at least 600K subscribers. Your videos are better than a lot of the other “adventure” or sailing channels..good luck on the trip!
Beautiful start to your adventure- I adore that you give thanks to God for watching over you & Wavey in your travels ❤
Absolutely. Left to my own, I won't make it far.

Glad you’re getting started.
Awesome! Thanks for the shot of the push pole. I feel better now.
So exciting. Stay safe and keep an eye on your dog treats. If you run out of treats, there will be hell to pay.
Launch day had to be tough. By the time you arrived back at Hudson you had to be bushed! Glad everything worked out given the complexity involved. Hopefully the fall weather will hold until you get further south so you can relax and enjoy the fall colors.
It's good to see you back in the waters again! Loved the first shanty boat adventure! I happy to see that your still going after adventure still! There is a lot to be said for traveling here in the states, lots to see! Stay safe, my friend!
Hello from the quiet cool Ozarks Brenton! Another video of value! Congradulations on your start of the Great Loop without starting in Superiorland! Howdy! We beat against the wind from Rocky all day. 4 mph. Ouch!
My cousin used to live in Brainard, he had a Stihl equipment store there for years
Not a bad small city. I bought the cheapest house for sale there 2 years ago to be closer to my son. I'll talk about it on the back up channel this winter if you're interested
Brenton, a suggestion. Invest into a Scooter cover... When you get back to Salt water, that Honda will love you for it!
I have one on board. It came with the scooter amazingly enough. I'll throw it on. It's raining today
congratulations

Glad your on the way brother, cant wait to see more.
Ill have to live my great loop thru you for now 😂
Starting from the beginning of your journey, how cool. Thanks so much for sharing this with us all. It's very inspirational. I admire you. I lived in WI and MN for a time. Brings back good memories. I've been a
wanderer on the land, time to wander on the water... I always wondered if there were inland river routes to take. Happy.
Cruising. Dyan😊
Both! Back Waters and Back Roads;) Stickers around
Loving this
Well, alright! :)
Guitar is haunting. Rusty west used it too.
Godspeed. Bear roast upon your return.
You got a bear?! Call me. I want to hear about it ;)
Just started watching at episode 45 or something and decided to start at ep1. And I just want to say good for you man! This looks amazing and I love you vids
Thank you for finding us Tim ;)
well done. Makin it happen. God is on our side.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I'm looking forward to your trip! You will, at some point, pass Ste Genevieve MO (some miles south of Hoppy's and north of Chester, IL).
Yeap! I stopped there on the Shanty Boat Beagle Adventure. I remember finding a nice little creek south of town ans walking to get gas. That feels like a million miles away right now ;)
@@backwatersandbackroads That must have been quite the walk...lol. If I'm correct, you might have pulled in to where we used to have a small marina. But, from there it would be over a mile walk to nearest gas ⛽️.
Enjoy your trip brother. Look forward to seeing the updates. 22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
Where can I find that verse please? Thank you
@@backwatersandbackroads Exodus 23:22 but there are too many to count that reiterate the same thing. Deuteronomy 28 would be the best place to start where it tells you straight up there are blessings for obedience, curses for disobedience.
@@CatarineausArmory thanks. I'll look that up this evening.
I did this route 7 years ago on a 24 ft Pontoon with my nephew and brother -in- law. This will be fun to follow and experience this great adventure again.
Should be an amazing trip!!

I come from the Lock 19 Keokuk cam. Cant wait to watch your adventures. I took some screenshots of you coming through if you would like them.
Howdy. Welcome! I got that footage too. I'll include it in an upcoming episode;)
Brenton...Beautiful day in Superiorland..Sunny and 46..Will keep the home fires burning....
Looks like fun sir. Good luck. Cute dog.

Brenton, God bless you on this new adventure. Thank you for sharing your beliefs and sharing scripture in regards to what you’re talking about. I look forward to each episode and grateful we get to come along. So thank you!
That dog is so damn cute!
Thank you. She really is a good dog. I tease a lot ;)
Ive been watching your channel for awhile but i have to admit not much lately. But I am so glad I got notified about this trip. So grateful to be able to tag along on this awesome adventure. A dream of mine for sure the great loop on a shanty boat..
Welcome back, sir ;) I know there's a lot to watxh on YT. I'm amazed, so y folks are finding us.
Stay safe have fun
You popped up on my feed and I want to see this. I'm subbed.
Great. Welcome! We finally broke into the algorithm;) just getting started
I'll just echo other comments. I really enjoy your adventures since I'm a caregiver and can't go out on my own. At 78, I'm a 70 year boater, (sail and power), and a 40 year motorcyclist and love to explore on both. Living vicariously through you helps me keep my sanity.
William, please email me. Wavey would like to send you a BWBRs post card. Email in description of videos
Another great adventure, all aboard for a shanty boat excursion.
A small Jack crane would help you load and unload heavy items on the boat then can be broken down and packed away.
BEEN WAITING ON THIS ONE! GOI
I couldn't tell you how many times I've crossed That i94 bridge there I wouldn't be surprised it's over 1000
I love it,this is going to be the trip of a lifetime and I'm excited to be going along with you in spirit!
And so it begins, it's going to fun coming along on your adventure.....
Will Mason came into chat at Lock 19 and told us about you, and our Mod Judd posted your link...this looks like quite an adventure!
Awesome! Thank you. I'll try to find it and include in upcoming video. ;)
Super excited. Thanks for letting me tag along. Super channel.
My dog does the same thing lol 😆
You’re anchor lines look pretty light, don’t know about your anchors. There is a lots of folks God didn’t look after, but you’re free to believe what ever you like. At any rate, looks like an exciting trip, good luck.
Thanks ;) all welcome to come along. Won't get any off putting heavy handed sermons here. Lake Pepin today
Great start to an epic adventure! You make us all smile! Take care!
I just found your channel. I live just outside Hudson and the TA you camped at is right by my house. I look forward to following your travels. Not a fan of the parking situation in my town either.
Welcome! These little towns get loved to death mostly in the summers don't they. Even my end of the road town in the UP gets more and more folks showing up. Thanks for finding us ;)
Gotta love these river trips❤ I just found your channel again and to my surprise, another river trip !
Good luck with your goal being to do the Great Loop in this boat. It should be quite an adventure. Safe travels!
My parents live 2 miles south of the i94 bridge on the st croix .. I play guitar under the Hudson sign on the river walk when I’m back visiting in the summer
That sounds like a good way to spend the summer ;) Northland summers are the best.
Can't wait for all the follow up videos , will be checking on the channel often. Have fun & be safe out there
Oh yeah…I’m SOOOO subscribing to this journey! LOVE IT!!!!
Have been looking for someone doing the Great Loop just like this!
I've never slept better than between two running trucks in my travel trailer.
We've been sleeping next to trains the entire trip so far;)
Safe travels Sir. Thanks for letting us follow along.
Yes we need to acknowledge God Almighty daily with thanks for the many blessings he gives us. Hope you have a good safe trip.God Bless and Maranatha
Very much agree with your channel description. Freewill! Choosing to love the Lord
I'm so happy for you to start this journey. I will be watching and riding along in spirit every step of the way. Be safe
Hooray for the Shanty!!!
We'd been dreaming of doing the Great Loop and got turned off by the high maintenance [repairs and such] that the other channel's highlight. Doing this by pontoon boat is very inspiring for us. Looking forward to following your adventure.
This is the place to watch someone do it in the cheap ;) welcome. Thanks for finding us
i agree with you on the God thing. im 72 and i could write a book on how he's kept me and my family out of danger and led us through life.
You got it. Becomes so obvious when one's eyes are finally opened. You'll never catch me pushing it here, just subtle suggestions for those already waking up ;)
Brenton. I showered at the truck. Stop in Leavenworth Indiana. For over a year. Wile building my last home in derby Indiana. Now in panacea Florida.
Glad to be along for the ride!
Thanks for coming along;) we're just getting started. All winter long....then the real challenging stuff starts ;)
Your dual anchor system concerns me. The 2 could become entangled if the wind changes and both become useless. I suggest making a bridle from both cleats to keep the anchor point low and centered on the bow. Back down on the anchor to ensure it’s holding especially before going to sleep or leaving the vessel.
I am a new sub and greatly appreciate your great loop videos. Keep them coming!!!❤
You're reading my mind. I've been doing some anchor research just tonight. Not as straight forward as people think. A lot to it. I've already had my anchor lines cross up. Still held fine, but I can see the problem. My pivoting anchor is oversize (which is good) and does bite well in mud. The Bruce plow does well in sand and the chain helps. Any other thoughts or a good video appreciated. Thanks for finding us
