Saline is Ann Arbor Jr. You live here because either you've chosen a more rural place to live and commute into Detroit or you want to be in Ann Arbor but you either can't afford it or it's too busy. Saline's worst decision though was that Walmart.
I live in saline (actually pittsfield Township but 2 of saline schools are too, so people call pittsfield Township Saline normally) Tourism is not bad they are building a hotel but it's fine. The schools are great (the high school is huge). There is enough to do with a lot of parks, a bowling alley, a movie theater, and some stores (walmart for grocery and some fast food and even a dollar tree and tim bits). If you can't find something, there will be someone with less than a half-hour drive. Downtown is fun to walk down. We are also home to the back to back trapshooting state champs. My main issue is there is a lot of road construction right now from the back-up from construction from covid. There is also a lot of construction for new houses. Detroit is not that far either. You also have the rural feeling when you go south if you are more into that.
Wealthy cookie cutter suburbia. People who say its nice do so because residents generally have a high socio economic status, good test scores/academic proficiency and school resources for kids. Apart from this its not at all nice. It’s car centric without many parks or interesting stores/restaurants. The vibe is much more American than Ann Arbor which is much more international. Ann Arbor has much better parks, more visually appealing older style homes and neighborhoods(more walkable and bikeable). You’d think Saline is more conservative which it is but its still majority liberal without the diversity. It also has the only Walmart in the A2 area. Downtown looks very nice but its small.

Saline is Very nice. Don't sleep on Pittsfield twp, Dixboro, or Whitmore lake either

The only reason housing is expensive is because you are right by down town
