I was fortunate to meet John Barrowman at a fandom con, and I've never met a nicer guy. He's sweet, genuine, and generous, and he absolutely made that con for me.
Barrowman was an absolute gem at c2e2 in Chicago, my friend (female) and I asked to do a butt grab Vegas style photo which he agreed to - but not before asking if she wasn't a minor. Despite the claims made he did strike me as a raunchy humorous person but sensible with good morals
I know about his ehm accusations but decided to go for panel with him on comic con and my god this was too funny. He has tons of charisma and I didnt know dirty jokes are even allowed on comic cons 😂 Also the only actor on that comic con who actually spoke to the microphone.

Eccelston has done a ton of Big Finish in a short time. Between May 2021 and May 2024, he’s released 12 box sets (as well as a featured role in the 60th special series alongside David Warner) if you know how Big Finish’s release schedule can be, 1 release basically every 3 months is breakneck speed. Which hopefully is a positive sign of how much fun he’s having back in the role.

And just realized that of the 4 actors who have played lead detective in that show 3 of them have been in Doctor Who. Awesome 🤩

The Doctor saved her from the autons in the warehouse, came by her place to find an escaped auton part and showed up at the restaurant where Rose was with Plasticky Mickey. Clive exposed Rose - and thus the viewer- to some legends, theories and rumours about the Doctor however Rose reguarded him as a nutter and a waste of time. Before that, she already was intrigued by the Doctor, for instance by how he profiled himself as someone aware of the movement of Earth through the galaxy. And then she was supposed to forget him. Sure. The Doc was só leading her on and with their paths crossing various times within a day or two, they were bound to go on an adventure together. Clive served as a source for some half n half exposition - he hardly scratched the surface of who the Doctor really was - and we got to know him just enough to evoke a reaction as he later lost his life opposite the autons. The character did serve a purpose and I like how he fit in to the story. But in theory the episode could have done without him. Just find a different moment for Mickey to be switcharood with an auton copy.
It's still scandalous, that Big Finish rejected Barrowman for jokes, he has never made a secret of. I mean: didn't we all love those story, when told at various conventions? I (as a woman & a feminist) did. Everyone knew, everyone laughed about it, he never touched anybody without consent, yet he's been treated by the British media almost like he did the same as Noel Clarke (while he DIDN'T do the same!)

I get that they can't possibly mention every single role played by these actors, but I have to point out the wonderful job Patterson Joseph did as the Marquis de Carabas in 'Neverwhere', considering that I have never met a Doctor Who fan who didn't love Neil Gaiman, Tennant being in 'Good Omens', felt like enough connective tissue for me to mention it.

I was 12 when the show returned and i was lucky enough to have caught some reruns of the original series when gold was called uktv gold a few weeks before Rose aired. I missed the first few episodes of the new series and i think aliens of London was the first episode i watched and from then i was a fan. Tom Baker became my overall favourite doctor though

Simon Callow has played Charles Dickens several times over both before and after Doctor Who. In 1996 and 2000 on television. As Dickens during the live action scenes and then as the voice for the animated Ebenezer Scrooge in the 2001 Christmas Carol version. Twice, of course, in Doctor Who. And an unnamed narrator/actor role in the 2018 TV version.

I just realised why the money hungry Rodrig (Paterson Joseph 5:31) looked and feels very familiar, he is the same actor who plays gold/money hungry Dexter Gold in Hustle (S8 E1 Gold Finger).

I was 12 when the show returned and i was lucky enough to have caught some reruns of the original series when gold was called uktv gold a few weeks before Rose aired. I missed the first few episodes of the new series and i think aliens of London was the first episode i watched and from then i was a fan. Tom Baker became my overall favourite doctor though

Simon Callow has played Charles Dickens several times over both before and after Doctor Who. In 1996 and 2000 on television. As Dickens during the live action scenes and then as the voice for the animated Ebenezer Scrooge in the 2001 Christmas Carol version. Twice, of course, in Doctor Who. And an unnamed narrator/actor role in the 2018 TV version.
He has also read Dickens stories for the Charles Dickens Museum Channel on UA-cam.
He has also helped promote the Charles Dickens Museum in London.
