The 19th and 20th SF Army NG is a major component of the U.S. Army SF Command. And yes, you can transfer to Active Army already being Special Forces. Being Special Forces in the Army Guard, is more demanding. You will be deployed at a moment's notice. Because the 19th and 20th SF Army NG spend a lot of time doing Active full time missions all over world.

I knew a guy( a pretty famous guy in the community) who was at 19th Group and was ready to go to SFAS and could not get them to send him. He went to my Battallion at 20th Group and got qualified then immediately left and went back to 19th. Yeh he got qualified but that I'm sure engendered alot of trust issues and put a ? on him at both units. Thats just going from one Guard unit to another jumping to the active side is far more common and they will give you a mountain of shit if you dont at least fulfill your commitment.

I also signed up for airborne and air assault schools and volunteered for Desert Storm but I never heard back from them and I found out why about 2 years later. Our goddamn company clerk was a jealous piece of shit who would throw paperwork away. There’s no telling how many Soldiers he fucked over because of his bullshit. I ended up joining other units and getting 3 more MOS’s which were Combat Engineer, Cavalry Scout and Heavy Wheeled Vehicle Driver and I also got 2 Iraq tours. It pisses me off to know I could’ve been in Special Forces had it not been for a jealous underachiever. If I ever see him I’m probably gonna slap the taste out of his mouth.
