Yo straight up when I was 15-16 I grew up in a little desert town in Arizona and I wanted to be just like Shabba D the man was my favorite MC. I was 1 or 5 kids who listened to drum and bass within 200 miles haha. Used to have all the tape packs back then of the UK massives. What a time to be alive. I’m 40 now and love seeing this documentary. Glad to see shabba still killin it a true legend
Honestly grateful for this documentary. Shabba D and Skibadee are legends. The UK scene wouldn't be what it is now without their contributions
I’ve been to hundreds of raves, events, festivals etc over the years, and shabba is the only mc I’ve met numerous times, who’s actually sat down and had a conversation with me every time, not cos he felt he had to, but cos he wanted to, an absolute legend and a gentleman
The happiness I had in my 20's and 30's honestly I can't put into words Shabba Skibba Det Brockie Nicky Mambi Grooverider Andy C!! The list is endless I had the BEST TIME Bagleys, Rex, Jungle Fever, Raindance Moondance Powerhouse ,Shabba all of dem me LOVE u guys for that forever!!
1st seen shabba at telepathy b4 he blew up...90's was the BEST times for everything!!
We were soo lucky & never knew it!!
Tape pack days classical, the ammount of rewinds i did on certain mixes or mc'ing back in da days 😂😂

Nice documentary. Good visuals an in-depth interview with the one an only. MR SHABBA D... Big up yourself for the upload too. Got my headphones on, couple rolled, enjoying the vybz..💨💨💨👊🏿💯👏🏾
So proud of Shabba watching his journey and rise to fame from humble beginnings. Putting Hackney on the map for real!! Bless up!!
Yeah big up Shabba for keeping it 💯, real talk back in the early days none of us djs or mcs were getting paid, you had to be real tight with the promoters to get any paper, we were just happy to get our names on the flyers.. & pirate radio was definitely the eyes & ears, the social media of the scene.. the Information centre🔥🔥🔥
@@negroantonio28 Exactly and DJs and MCs had to pay subs, pay to cut dubs and buy records. It was more out of love and not a money thing as you know. MCs would make next to nothing on nights but the likes of Shabba and Skibadee (RIP) changed that and also introduced the hourly rate as MCs were made to work all night for as little 30 to 50 quid. Respect to the real ones, to grafters and the unsung heroes of the scene.
@@TakeMeBackPirateRadioaha..lol yeah I remember paying the radio station subs, chasing DATs, paying to cut those dubs at music house, Holloway carrying around those record bags & heavy flight cases, hunting down those promos & limited test presses at the record shops, phoning up records labels to get on mailing lists, rarely getting paid for sets but just greatful for the opportunity to play out..wow.. the grind we put into that scene we defo spent more than we made, but yeah it was for the love of it, very competitive but alot of fun to with it
@@negroantonio28 Exactly! You know the deal. Big up yourself and all the grafters to the max.
Bout time this legend gets a documentary about himself, cement his legacy properly. One of the only old skool mc's that has talent left imo, always a favourite of mine ❤️

Shabba is og bro been listening to him for years sasasas forever
Anyone know the name of the tune that drops at 10:30 ?
Hands down best Jungle MC for me - ‘96 to ‘98 Shabba would terrorize a set 🔥🔥🔥. Used to smash it on Kool with Skibba and Shockin (SASAS) and would always be a wicked set with him and Funky Flirt. True legend and still going - nuff respect to him. Met him a few times around the late 90’s in my raving days and he was always cool, even in the Sainsbury’s in Stratford when he was pushing a trolly around food shopping lol.
I went rex at 14! It was a community back then trust.i learnt bare loads in raves in being a man and loving music

My era dis ☻❤
A real big Pioneer King ina di bizz , the hole Jungle dnb culture will Not be what IT IS today with people Like him big Up and respect , WE Had him a few weeks ago in Out Club and He mashed Up di Hole fkn Dance , never tired
Dnb scene nowadays is a caricature if what it was in mid late 90's. I won't say jungle cos there's no amen breaks at current raves. The music is shit the vibes are shit, it's all very gimmicky and commercial compared to what it used to be.
LEGEND
Fuck yeah Shabba fuckin D !! You bring fire 🔥 mate ! Your old Skool ! Right up to the the to present day ! Stay safe and just keep bringing the dark and heavy !! Need you to join the car Barzz 😎
in my 40s and this music always on in the cars and van :)
Og best MC UK champion real
Shabba is legend status, all day long.
I've always wanted to be an MC, but I was at the back of the que for voices
@nevabord it could make you stand out from others, dreams can become reality 😁👊
So it was your fault I had to choose if I wanted to listen to new sets on a cd player or classics on a tape player when in me car. Miss the tapes, pure nostalgia. Even today I'm more likely to wack a tape on when listening to the jungle.
Bass Man and Shabba nuff said.
its a shame that boomtown set isnt available anywhere
Skibadee and Shabba were like gods when i was growing up as a teen. We would trade tapes at school and formed a junglist crew of about 20. The very second we left school in 1998 we hit the Jungle / DnB clubs and skanked out hard for about 8 years straight until we were all finally burnt out. Those were the best years of my life! 😭
Class mates 👌🏾🇬🇧
Nightingale estate enuff said 🙌

Never forget Shabba at Ministry of Sound back in May 2003 with Bad Company with the Breakin Science cru. 5am on a bank hoilday Monday morning and he completey smashed it, leaving the diehard still standing wanting more at the end of the rave.
