This is a commercial that works for me 100%
agreed.
But i think all major phone companies have this kind of standards or maybe higher. They just like to keep it in secret.
Their Phones are cheaper, but i don't know how much they invest in research
Srsly, I have a OPO and was thinking not to buy the 6 for reasons. My OPO is still great but after seeing this I feel like i want to support the company more and buy a 6 !
Agreed, smart release on the OnePlus 6 launch day - and it's just smart and no bullshit. Love that.
We just enjoy anything with a jolly good Linus in it.
...and then he goes and buys one of those torture-tested phones that somehow ended up on the market :D
Wow. No joke, this is the most successful sponsored video I've ever watched. I'm way more likely to buy a OnePlus phone after seeing all that.
I was thinking about buying it before seeing this video....now I am definitely buying the oneplus 6
Me too
In this case this video must be super effective, because I allready got one.
Sam Krygsheld yeh im off my ip 7 plus for it
This is nothing special...this is a mandatory for most major smartphone companies...Sony Samsung Apple(probably the most hardcore one) htc
All these hard working people being bothered by this random talking dude
the company probably paid him to do that for ads
this random squawking dude
Glad to know I'm not the only one to find his talking annoying. Too much excitement over mundane stuff.
"This round eye weasel was at the factory today. He put phones in his round eye pockets! And make UA-cam video!" Says every employee at the factory after they got home that day. Lol
random high pitched talking dude
Before Linus came here, the boss was like, alright, we're gonna have this white man in here talking about our process here, just ignore the white man
@Sushant M White colored person? Doesn't make much sense. Also, he wouldn't have said 这个; that implies that he is already there (it translates to "this"), which he wouldn't be true if the boss said it before he came. I guess he could be pointing a photo, but that wouldn't make much sense unless there was a conference in which he showed everyone a picture of Linus.
Sushant M Aighty Aighty Ancient Almighty
@Sushant M This translate it's terrible
@Sushant M You are saying that they have a white envelope and that the one who is visiting the factory is ignore white envelope.
@Sushant M Aww your so butt hurt.
Linus was secretly proud to watch robots do the dropping for him.

Actually , kinda bet he was jealous.
The machines are taking even his job!
we should get him one for his birthday
then again it would kinda make him unemployed :/

i pray that i dont get the phone which was assembled when they were distracted lol

Ok I need to make my way to a factory like this one day. This is really fascinating.
You should try it with Samsung, I'm interested in seeing how they test / torture their phones.
Austin Evans not sure they would let you
hey Austin this is guys
hey guys this is autism
Renatto Belerofonte
True.
Oh boy, nothing makes Linus happier than intentionally dropping stuff
or others with socks and sandles
Why do you think it has "quality control EXPOSED" in the title? XD
new game.. Take a shot every time Linux taps, drops or manhandles a piece of electronics.
Everyone would die of alcohol poisoning after 1 video.
fc3sbob Linus is a little dufus
Henrique Oliveira I doubt if any other manufacture do this amount is extensive manufacturing processes & testing. No one has advertised except OnePlus.
In spite of being Chinese, these things are really sophisticated.
Security at factory door: Mr Linus, what is this phone doing in your pocket?
Red faced Linus: Errr, I was balancing it on my head and err... it must have *dropped* into this pocket.
Camera man: Happens everytime he visits a shop or factory.
Massively underrated comment 🤣🤣🤣
I think he got more than 1.
Just ordered my oneplus 6 yesterday. Really reassuring knowing that their phones go through such extensive QC testing. Hope my phone lasts a long time. Amazing video Linus!!
Should've waited for 6T
@@koustubh nah nigga. No headphone jack
I think I saw on a site that ONEPLUS had said that they would put back the headphone jack.
Word of warning, don't drop your phone on the volume rocker edge as a design issue shatters the back screen ( mine and hundreds of other OnePlus 6 owners have the same problem with back panel cracks around the volume rocker area 😠
It doesn't have a headphone jack, but it does support bluetooth 5.0 with apt-X and apt-X HD support which can compete with wired
*salutes guy whose job it is to install the headphone jack*
"Thank-you for your service." ='(
He's fired if they remove the headphone jack.

Great to see the whole factory
Yeah This is awesome.
I saw your comment on the merecedes S class seat video
That's one amazing video! I never thought that the process of producing a mobile phone can be so complicated and lengthy. We really hold technical marbles in our hand without so many of us appreciating it.
Some of us have lost them...
Got a 6T after seeing this. OnePlus got me hooked. Best phone I ever had. Picking up the 8 pro next week.
This is honestly next level content. As far as I know tours like these are a real privilege!
even if sponsored/propaganda, at least we can see inside!
I don't care about the propaganda, I just want to see the neat machines and the tricks behind the manufacturing^^
They are total fake marketing events. Disgusting content - had to skip through it. I looked a lot and loved Tunnel Bear becoming a Linus meme but this is the dark side of content.
Next level content would be the same, but with no commercial bias. This is just a commercial. And of course, all commercials seem nice/entertaining/interesting/funny/etc.
Any time you have a factory tour, you WILL have this kind of positive coverage by the host. Just the cost of doing business. Look through the host's implied bias to see the silent workers and machines.
This video was amazing. I have only commented on maybe 10 videos in the last 5 years, but this one deserved it. Great video!
Dorian Phillips I agree. This was a fantastic look into how phones are made and tested and it was thoroughly enjoyable!!
but it’s a sponsored ad.

Such a beautiful phone and they are equally as nice in hand. I just got my grandma a new iPhone SE 2020 tho and kinda loved it and see why people like them.
Wow! Superb Quality control. Look at the the devotion and concentration of these workers.
And that cute smile at @ 8:28? Priceless...
"They thought they were refurbished because there were pictures on it" I can't believe this made me laugh so hard
I think it'd be kinda cool to have a picture like that come with your phone tbh.

this is my new favorite video from linus. its always cool to see inside some of the major manufacturers assembly and testing labs. oneplus looks like a transparent company to me, the consumer and that is what we need to see more of.
Yeah - Transparently in Golden Sample Potemkin Mode...
12:46 "Out of my way.. I'm a professional."
Respect to all of these people! I would go crazy after just a couple of hours doing anything of that
wow... and ladies and gentlemen... THIS is why the western world will always bow down to the East for manufacturing.... because they chose to give the farm away.
I have try this job a mouth so boring
You people always find something to get offended and point the finger. Nowhere did I mention the whole East vs West thing. Go talk about that in your own comments.
I just respect their hard work, regardless of where they are from. Same goes for millions of people working in factories in the western world.
You'd be surprised. I'm someone who generally goes nuts pretty quickly doing boring things, but I worked as a spring maker for some time, and it was actually very zen and meditative. It really wasn't that bad.
(Replying to +KappaW ) Completely untrue.
the almost robotic expertise of the way these people build these phones is insanity
it is insane especially when you think that they do it for 8-12 hrs a day. That aside we need some linus drop tips memes man.
gtf out o here and go make me more memes
linus memes when
you are for memes get out
People can disconnect from the mundane task, the body does the robotic job over and over but the mind is elsewhere,
at least i hope some can do that, how else would you be able to work decades like this.
I still love my oneplus 3t 128gb, great vid, thanks!!
Really great to watch Linus geek out so much at the factory.
Just watching those workers do their repetitive tasks for one minute made me realise just how great my job actually is.
Really? They're making me hate my job even more.
Literally the majority of jobs are repetitive
⬆️ true dat
And they earn very little.
Ossi Ahonen not true, they make $800-$1000
Linus didn't have to drop any. They had machines for that.
Mechanical Butt!
it's called a Linus machine
You know, After watching just few episodes of LTT, I'm sure he dropped at least one - and if he could not do that, because of some tail they have there all the time, he just dropped random phone on the street, when he left. He could not resis. Just look in his eyes;]!
give this guy a medal
While I mean obviously nothing could withstand one drop from Linus...
Awesome detailed description of the manufacturing process. Thanks! I just bought a OnePlus 6T, and this was all very cool to know.
Such a fun video. Like How It's Made, Linus style. Very cool. Watching from a 6t where they probably streamlined this process even better for my phone :)
These “behind the scenes” type of videos makes one really appreciate the technology more because you see that there are real humans building them and the pull-outs from Serie gets tested hard.
>real humans
I wouldn't go that far
I work in a factory so I can appreciate what goes into making anything be it food, phone, cars or other. There's so much that goes into getting quality products to the customers. Love these types of videos.
The RaRa85 ur happy with ur job right?
Joemond Ma sure.

It's pretty sad hey
Dylanger Daly I'd feel totally worthless
With life really
+Happy Life WISH they have a 2 hour break each day + a 10min "eyes resting time"
First job I ever had was in a factory, the show we put on when 'VIP' came around was great. The rest of the time it was stick it together and ship it out as fast as you can.
TheDutyPaid lol really? 😂
Yeah, I know that feel.
I work in a industrial bakery and we do the same thing when the big hanchos come around. The rest of the time none of the line operators have a fuckin clue whats going on and we constantly throw out metric tonnes of food waste in an 8 hour shift.
Thing is, people actually *do* expect their new flagship phones to work and look flawless, so good quality control is essential. Anything else is a waste of time and money for the company.I've done an internship at a company that makes piston rings once, and they, too, have extremely high quality control standards, because they really don't want complaints that a bad piston ring is what killed the engine in a five- or six-figure car. They'd rather throw out a dozen that might have never been a problem than ship one that ends up being a killer. Literally, even, in the worst case scenario.
Yeah, I can expect that.
thanks for letting us see the whole process, it's so impressing ;)
I have this phone and it's pretty cool to see all the work that went into it.
the employees look like surgeons and linus looks like a chef lol

I love these factory tours
I love how you don't hide it if you're being sponsored by the company whose product you review in some vids. In Linus We Trust :)
We believe disclosure is the most important part of maintaining a trusting relationship with our viewers. We take sponsorships like anyone else but you'll always know about them :)
Its actually illegal to be paid by a company for a review and not disclose it.
In what country?
The us does
Ambition-pk believe it or not, the onus is on the sponsor to ensure that the disclosure is done and many don't enforce it. Also, we are Canadian and there is no body to even enforce the (weaker) guidelines we have in place up here. We do it voluntarily.
Props to the headphone jack guy.

Agreed. I am now seriously considering the OnePlus for my next phone. Video evidence of how seriously they take making the product right goes a long ways.
Shoutout to simpleflips
TheKaiMan123 I doubt if any other manufacture do this amount is extensive manufacturing processes & testing. No one has advertised except OnePlus.
In spite of being Chinese, these things are really sophisticated.
I wonder how Oneplus makes revenue by making the phone cheaper than other flagships such as Samsung S9/S9+ or the iPhone X, despite having the features and quality of these flagships. Is it due to cheaper parts and labor? Or are companies like Apple and Samsung just simply charging more for their phones?
If I didn't have to get a phone just the other month, I would have held out for this, especially after seeing this video. I mean yeah, samsung probably performs the same tests, but I have't seen a video to prove it. These are the types of ads (per se) that work for me!
Finally a place where Linus can drop things
Fascinating piece. I have been a Oneplus fan from day one.
lol the music they put while touring the factory. Fun and upbeat to mask away the monotony.
Such a good video! Definitely one of my favorites in a while.
They could hire Linus dropping those phones.
😹😹😹😹 the music at 9:50 Thanks for making this video, awesome footage
This was very interesting. I thought that production itself is more automated, but I guess it would be too hard to achieve considering how often new models are released (and all machines have to be changed / reprogrammed / recalibrated for each new model). I must say I'm quite impressed by the level of testing (and this is coming from a guy who used to work as a production tester designer).
Trying to make them phones Linus proof
14:45 Something tells me Apple didn't do this test with their iPhone 6.
KX36 Apple dont Care about quality... So No.
My iPhone 6 had so many problems it was nuts. The screen cracked a ton which happens so I let it go. The battery would die at 75% everytime so I had to have a case as my battery. Then the wifi antenna went to shit completely and I could be within a meter of the router and have poor connectivity. Then I sold it and bought a cheap Galaxy as a replacement and two-three years later still have it and have no real complaints.
This video has made me actually consider OnePlus for my next phone, the attention to detail is crazy!
I really enjoyed watching this, thankyou!😊❤️
Dont worry....The drop and stress tests are just for design verifications and random quality sampling. They don't drop the production units shipped to customers. I didn't expect this China company to do such extensive testings.
SK Lim how do you know? Are you 1+ current /ex employee?
Thank you, captain obvious.
Hans Franz it ain't obvious to everybody 🙄

Apple do these exact same tests and if 50% do not break and need replacing they redesign the entire phone to make it more fragile.

As someone who has worked in smaller scale manufacturing, this is impressive to watch. So many custom rigs and fixtures...
I love me some custom fixtures
I love seeing the manufacturing and QA processes, as I spent ten years in the field, so thank you for taking the time to put this together in fairly strong detail - well done!
Linus, next time you're in China, please learn how to say "excuse me", "please" and "thank you" in either Cantonese or Mandarin. Its respectful to the locals and the companies will love you for showing some basic courtesy and good manners. I hate to nitpick, but I cringed at a couple of points in the video.
Does it look like the workers actually cared?
I'm not Chinese but I noticed the cringe points in this video too. Linus uses American style humor. I want to point out that Linus wasn't making fun of that guy with socks and sandals. Socks and sandals are what Linus loves to wear.
