Had a guy ask me to help him set up a slide bait rig for shark fishing.

@@fired_up_fishing if ur on a flat plaine and don't have the advantage of being higher than the water column like from beach or shore will the sliding rig still work

@@chrischapoteau3263 you know what that’s a good question! I would imagine slide baiting wouldn’t be as advantageous if you’re on flat plane. You might just be better off casting your bait out on a long rod. Let me know if you have any more questions

@@fired_up_fishinghow did you rig a slider without the Australian slider? Did you use a regular snap swivel? Did you put a stopper ring? Or when you hook up slider slams into sinker?

@@wazup3333 in this video I just used a snap swivel that slid all the way down to the sinker… I would highly recommend an no return slider, and a stopper ring

Grandfather used to work the bait shop and ticket counter on the original pier. Before the Harbor. They were doing that in the early 60's but used a float so the anchovy wouldn't sink. Good in those days because Bonito used to run the coastline.

When you bring that boat life mentality to the pier, solid work man!

I fish SD and Mission bays, the boats etc...not a lota piers. Im by no means the most knowledgeable but i share what i know. I love to learn and watch others teach our beloved obsession. Fisherman are the best people. Thank you for your time and sharing your gear wth a newcomer. He will for sure someday pass that lesson to others because of you

Thanks Steve 🤙 love teaching the new comers and I’m a firm believer in starting the kids when they are young!!! Over the years I’ve always loved learning from the old timers on the boats. Always have an open ear when someone is teaching a fishing lesson. Tight lines

Cool video but I use my float to pick up somthng big in the middle bat rays you can just cast a high low rjg or fish finder rig for bat rays but if your using a whole mack float and keep it about 8 to 10 ft down and hook somthng big but on that small pole better the way he showed him I like the none return swivles so my bait won't come back but his set up sound good a sputnik weight would be better then a perymid weight tho as they dig in and stay put but for a first time cool

If you're going to be on UA-cam, emphasize following the law! Rookie fisherman overhead casting are dangerous to be around.
