Oven cleaner works well on greasy motors.

Great video and besides what you said in the beginning of it how do you strip the paint and everything to get the clean cast iron look before you did the gasoline and stuff? I was going to use muriatic acid in a brush then pressure wash it then treat the cast iron so it doesn't flash and then do what you're doing.

Hey thanks for watching the video!
I pour paint stripper in a bowl. It doesn’t matter the brand, as long as it removes layers of paint, both latex and oil-based paints. Then I get the cheap $1 brushes and coat the cast iron pretty heavy with the stripper. You’ll start to see the paint peel and bubble. Take a wire brush and start scrubbing the paint off, this can take quite a while. You may have to reapply stripper if there are multiple coats of paint. When you have most of the paint off, use a bench grinder with the wire wheel. This is what really cleans up the cast iron. Gasoline and diesel are good cleaning liquids. Lacquer thinner is a good to use just before you start painting, helps clear the oils that may be still on the surface.
