You hit the nail on the head. Episodic formats allow for self-contained stories that DON'T explicitly focus on the main characters or plot. It can be used to tell a specific story in an unbridled way, or even better, give some undeveloped side characters some focus. For example, Seven Episode 28. The Alien Kill and Dinosaur Tank have *nothing to do* with the Alien Ghose or Pandon, and yet the episode plays out within your format and allows for Amagi to get some superb character focus and development all neatly contained within one episode. That's why I believe that episodic formats have their perks, and that everyone saying otherwise needs to stop rewatching Nexus and go outside. (Maybe that was a bit too harsh. Oh well, at the end of the day we're all Ultraman fans.)

That show actually has a lot of really cool details everyone overlooks because it can be goofy, which is a bummer. 8:32 I gotta say, Dyna's is easily my favorite finale of all. It made me feel emotions I didn't know I could feel before lol. Everything about it is legitimately impeccable. Overall great video! You hammer the point home perfectly, bringing up many great examples from the franchise.
I’ve known Ultraman for a while , like since I was 3 or 4 but stocked to gamera , Godzilla and King Kong also other less known monster flicks.And your boosting my interest so much! I’m gonna get either the ultraseven or ultraman series.Also you have better editing than most other channels I watch , you deserve much more subs.
Monster of the week is a fun premise. I think its the fact that people like to binge these days that make motw format unappealing. On a weekly basis, the 1st half of dynazenon was really good. It also set up the slowly mundane feel of kaiju appearing. This makes the 2nd half way stronger. However, i can't deny that when watching the show the 2nd time over the span of 4 days, it loses some of its appeal, but my friend who watched it the 1st time in that same time enjoyed the series.
You summed it up perfectly, each individual episode IS the main plot. I prefer episodic shows over serialized stuff for the fact that each episode is it's own story with a beginning, middle, and end, allowing for a variety of different stories. Where as with a serialized story, if the main plot suck the entire show is gonna suck
While the series you listed off did have some good finales....Gaia took it away for me. 3 episodes that brought back some of the best kaijus in the series to help against the big bad. That is how to end a series.
