I am using the Thar since last 8 yrs, but did not know the exact science behind a 4 wheel drive. It felt so nice to understand it all.Thank you so much👃
Thanks Hitesh. I’m glad you found this useful: I hope more people can benefit from these style of videos: please do share to other thar owners and 4WD’ers you feel could use it.
@@tripaccino Will definitely share.👍

Lucid tutorial, amazing graphics. Django looking superb as it prowls in the island. I like how you refer Gurkha as truck which it is.
Thanks Karmic
Bro explained😂 much easier than physics professor
Happy to help. Share with friends on WhatsApp 👌
Simple explanation.. rule the island with Django
Excellent
informative video ❤👍
Thanks Shahnawaz
Superb video.
When you were in 4L while crossing the steam, did you lock the front and rear diff as well?
Or locking is only meant for slippery conditions where one or more wheel/s loose traction.
I didnt. Simple thumb Rule:
///4H- Proactive. (Kick in before you enter)
///Difflocks - Reactive.(Lock when slip detected)
First time some one is explaining so nicely ..
Kudos bro 🤙🏼
Thanks bro
Very nicely explain awesome
While putting it on 4x4 should the normal gear be in neutral? Or clutch has to be pressed
Best to stop. press clutch, come to neutral on gear box, and then shift to range required 4H/4L . If not possible to stop or in emergencies, 4H can be engaged in slow speed also while vehicle is moving.
Wonderful and quite informative. Django rocks ❤️
Excellent video. thanks for sharing
Brilliant. Now please explain the drawbacks of force Gurkha in detail and launch about 5 door Gurkha. Because I am waiting for 5 door.
Nice crisp way you put everything to the point.A great help for the uninitiated city drivers who occassionally go for adventure trips
Thanks Gregory

Excellent video. Simple and easy to understand. The Gurkha is in a class of its own. People and Critics looking for creature comforts just dont get it.
Thanks much
Excellent presentation. Good luck 🤞
Basics well explained. Keep up the good work !
Hello sir, This video was very informative to someone who is new to this 4x4 & off-roading topic. Will you also make a video on which are the parts which frequently require maintenance in a 4x4 some say greasing is required is that true or it just requires periodic maintenance like other SUV's.
Thanks for your comment. Yes, 4x4 require regular maintenance, but just like every other vehicle does 🙂 . The 'extra' mechanicals involved (as seen in the video) are complex and expensive to replace. So in terms of additional concerns over and above a 'regular' car maintenance, you have to make sure that the OEM recommended routines are carried out on the transfer case etc. Regular greasing and upkeep is recommended but I must admit that the modern day Gurkha has come a long way from the gypsy's of yore. We today have mechanically matured vehicles which can give a long trouble free life with minimum maintenance. Bottom line is 'mechanical empathy' towards any vehicle, especially 4x4's/ Take care of the car and it will take care of you!
@@tripaccino Thank you for your quick response this video was so informative that I downloaded it.

Thank you so much Sir
Gréât. Easy explanation.
Some time the 4x4 gear is locked and doesn’t come back to 2H mode. I had tough time and after several trials I could bring it back through driving in reverse mode. Any other solutions to that or it is mechanics issue ?
Common problem, rather common complaint , in part time 4x4 transfer cases like the one in Gurkha . This is called transmission binding. As I have mentioned 4H in places where you don’t actually need 4H (hard traction surfaces like tar roads etc, can cause force buildup within the transmission) that’s why you should use 4L and even 4H only in slippery surfaces and quickly revert to 2H when back on traction. Solution: Reverse will help. Else try reversing in slow speed and disengaging gear while in motion. Best is to put two wheels on roadside kerb (sandy / grassy ) strip and rest two on road to mimic the slip between wheels . This will help in releasing the bind up instantly.
Kadak!! Excellent and lucid presentation!! 👌Superlyk! Sent me back to my Service days in the Sands of Jaisalmer and the steep gradients and snow and black ice during various tenures of duty! Guess we faujis get to learn this 'offroading' on the job!! 🙃
True that 🙏
Very very nice explanation and demonstration for beginners 🙏 Thanks Sir
You are most welcome
Great Explanation! Keep up the good work
Thanks a lot
Very nicely explained, brilliant!
Hi Vignesh..superb review..I always used to refer a remote toy car which will roll away when turned at high speeds as it lacks differentials. And kindly refer Page 75 of our manual..point one of important note 🙂 And I do have add up points regarding this but feel like not to share here.
Yes. Correct . Toy cars like hot wheels do have similar behaviour and need tracks for guidance .
Please do share the video and the channel with your friends if you liked it 👍
@@tripaccino ya..sure 👍
If you want to than you can install dieseltronic to gain power on your gurkha…highway driving and overtaking will be easier..
Have you tried it out?
I have tried one GUrkha fitted with it and found definitely better pickup in 1/2 gears. And cruising was effortless. But don't know long term feedback.
How much does the power bump ?
I will get the new Gurkha 3 door soon is it still the best and real suv under 18lakhs in india I like it as full manual?
Yea. Purist option
. Jimny also strong petrol . For its size

Is gurkha RWD in 4x2 mode?
Yes. Same is explained here in the video 👍
Good explanation.
Very useful, thank u so much!!

Very knowledgeable video, thanks sir, can both the differentials front & rear be engaged at the same time in much worst conditions by maintaining front tyres straight, pls let me know
Yes. As long as the front wheels are straight and you want to wriggle out of any tricky situation. Short time use and disengage immediately. It’s saved my life in worst conditions. Both diffs together is a beast . Just one wheel traction is enough to pull the car out in that case . Watch my thar Vs gurkha to see the low range ratios and see scientific proof of that
Thank you ☺
Sir Explain us the difference of AWD and 4WD in Technical Terms Pl. The Advantage of Having MLD ?
Please listen to the video again 😺the all answers you seek are there inside 😸👍
But since you asked - in brief AWD has capability to send engine torque to all 4 wheels (all the time.) 4 Wd is normally rear wheel powered and when demanded front wheels get clutched in through front diff. AWD is mild . Four wheel drive is more intense torque share
great stuff and informative, thanks a lot for posting it and would love to see more from you.
More to come!
Thanks
Well explained in easy to understand language bro
Glad you found it useful. Please do share it with your friends if they will find value in this.
Can rear diff lock used in steer conditions or not
Short distance only. Even rear wheels though not steered directly, follow different paths on turn and spin at different speeds. So can damage if diffs are not ‘open’ to allow this
Thanks for the video. I have one quick question. Engaging 2 high or 4 high or 4 low should be done only when the vehicle is stopped or can it done in running itself.
2H is what we are on default:
4H can be shifted when in very slow speed
4L when stopped only
@@tripaccino thanks for confirming. You video is very useful and got a clear understanding on how how differentials work and I also saw your another video comparing thar and Gurkha. Very good deep study and clear explanation.
@@ravic4681 thanks. Not many folks like this kind of content. World Wants tug of war
Great help. Thank you
Pleasure . Spread the channel to your friends
Can we use 4H on road with both diffs open?
Yes, but why would you. ? Do not use 4H and clutch in front wheels unless you are driving over less traction surface. While in theory there is no problem of running 4H with open diffs on hard Tarmac, you will chew through your components early of you run 4WD High when you actually don’t need it. (Full time 4WD is a different story - they have central diffs additionally) Hope it helps Abhindra

is it legal to drive on a beach in India ? have been multiple cases of tourists being booked for taking their vehicles on the beach in Goa. google and you will find the news items
It depends on which beach. Some are protected and some are no go .we have to respect those beaches. Tourists have created havoc in Leh pangong tso and goa.
In the Andamans. , #islandlife is very different ball game. ,
