México DF is now called Ciudad de México or Mexico City. Dia de muertos en Mexico (Mejico) is a traditional and colorful celebration of mexican culture.

God, I love Mexico. Mexican cities are like movie sets. The monumental baroque extravagance, the epic weight of history. To me, it is still the closest thing to being in a European metropolis on the American continent.

very true. it's by far older than any anglo-american settlement still in existence....not to mention it's located and in part a product of Tenochtitlan, one of the largest native Mesoamerican societies to ever exist. There is tons of history and legacy there.
Except none of what you wrote is true. Don't get me wrong, Mexico City is a great place, but it is nothing like Europe. Buenos Aires is the closest thing to a European city on the American continent.
@@donquijote6030 no, it's really not. I mean, I guess it depends what you mean. Most of the 'old' architecture in Buenos Aires is neo-classical style built in the late 19th and early 20th century....nowhere in the Americas has as large of a concentration of old (as in early colonial, over 300+ years) architecture as Mexico..you sound like a person who really doesn't know what they're talking about.
@@elguapo90 - There is significant amount of colonial architecture in Buenos Aires as well as surrounding cities. I would know, I lived in Buenos Aires and Mexico City. Mexico City has colonial architecture but not as much as Queretaro or Guanajuato. If you were better traveled you would know that.

I visited Mexico city many many many years ago back in the early 80's but I can see still a very beautiful city, one small but big detail is that practically those street musicians playing barrel organs (organillo) give a special sound to that city, when I saw them I always did tip them greetings from Vancouver

CDMX is my favorite city on Earth so far and I've been to many many cities. Such rich and deep culture, so alive and vibrant. Layer upon Layer of History it was a city meant to be the centre of a great nation. The weather is Spring Everyday! The food is AMAZING with not just food from all over the world but from every unique part of Mexico!
Mexico is BOLD and the same can be said for CDMX's amazing architecture and the dramatic colours found throughout the city. Unlike other great cities of the world it's still a peso paradise and your money will go much further than say New York, LA, London, Singapore or Sydney.
Museums, Art, Public Parks, Food, LGBTI scene, Music, History, People, day tours and proximity to both cultural and natural wonders means that a week was too short a time. Next time I'll be staying a few months. Hopefully by then Australia and Mexico might have direct flights.

@@donquijote6030 well, it depends whee you go, many of the areas of the city that usted to be dirty are now not only clean but also have been reinvented. Also there are several cities and towns in the country that are very clean, so do not generaliza please.
@@moesq1 - That may very well be true. It has been roughly a decade since I was last there, though I do not know if revitalization can clean the toxic cloud that hovers over a city of 25 million.
I would be curious to know if you live there? I lived in Tecamachalco, then Tlalnepantla. They were both dirty by American standards, though the cities in the U.S. are rapidly becoming third world countries. But being dirty is less important than the quality of the people and, to that end, I can firmly state the most Mexicans were wonderful people.

No más imagínense caminar en las calzadas de la Gran Tenochtitlan, ver los acueductos los jardines flotantes en chinampas los templos ceremoniales, una ciudad impresionante que hasta los conquistadores enmudeció, una ciudad enorme y al rededor solo agua. Sin duda CDMX es una ciudad con una enorme historia.
Hay una leyenda en la entrada del Museo Nacional de Antropología e Historia de la CDMX.
Esta frase se encontró en el descubrimiento y exploración en 1978 de las ruinas del Templo Mayor de los mexicas
La frase es acerca de la fundación de la ciudad por los Mexicas:
"Ve ahí donde enterraste el corazón de Copil y vas a ver un águila devorando una serpiente, porque en tanto que dure el mundo, no acabará, no terminará la gloria, la fama de México-Tenochtitlan"

Muy linda ciudad, muy colonial. Soy de Argentina y acá ese estilo se ve muy poco, por eso pienso que es un destino excelente para conocer mejor las raíces de la cultura americana y su arquitectura.
Es un destino fabuloso! Y lo mejor es que esto es una pequeńísima parte de lo que la Ciudad de México ofrece. Es sumamente diversa y contrastante. Así como encontramos esto tan colonial, vas a ver en otros videos que también tiene arquitectura de avanzada y de primerísimo nivel actual. Desde las raíces más profundas a lo más moderno vas a encontrar en esta ciudad vibrante!

@@-Nicolas- La catedral tiene varios estilos pues es de lo mas antiguo pero se terminó muy tarde.. Sin embargo, muchisimas consttrucciones con de al rededor de 1520-1600 , osea antes del barroco y tienen mas cosas renacentistas o medievales..por ejemplo los conventos que tienen elementos medievales como perlas isabelinas, rosetas, bóvedas de nervadura etc..
Nicolás DS Cd de Mexico es conocida coló La Ciudad de los Palacios debido a la gran cantidad de edictos coloniales qué hay.

Me surpreende as cidades mexicanas, com centros históricos ou coloniais, e geralmente muito extensos, muito diferente do Brasil, ha poucos prédios antigos e geralmente são demolidos, ambos países são muitos bonitos, o México tem muita historia e, biomas e climas diversos, diversidade étnica, o brasil tem muita diversidade racial, praias e climas tropicais..

It was field trip for a geogrpahy couse at Southern Illinois University. I wanted to test my Spanish and get extra credits. Had done work on the history of Mexico as well. I was 19 at the time and got to see the geology of Mexico along the Pan American Highway and feel the cold coming over the mountains into Mexico City was another bit to find in July for me. I am 90 going on 91.

La ciudad es muy limpia y crece a pasos agigantados,No por eso la llaman la capital de América latina
No quiero arruinarles el video pero esa avenida es solo un adorno, partes de atras como la Guerrero o más adelante en Tepito dan una cara muy diferente.
Albertrador la diversidad de CDMX es increíble! No creo que lo arruines por señalar esa enorme variedad y multiplicidad de contrastes que ofrece esta ciudad. Es parte de su magia y hay que saber apreciarla! Si revisas todos los videos que hemos subido en el canal, te darás cuenta que hemos mostrado cosas diferentes y no nos parece algo malo mostrar la multiplicidad de caras y facetas que ofrece esta fascinante ciudad! Solo un pequeño dato , a aquellos que dicen arquitectura colonial, la colonia duró 300 años y su arquitectura fue variando , por eso es correcto decir arquitectura virreinal del siglo XVII o del siglo XVIII, ya que en casa siglo tiene sus características y rasgos arquitectónicos, y si es una ciudad muy hermosa , pero lo mejor de esta ciudad es la gente , gente buena , gente trabajadora, gente bondadosa y sobre todo gente de bien, saludos desde la hermosísima ciudad de México alcaldía de Benito Juárez
