  • The Cardano for Bitcoiners series analyses criticisms, misconceptions and popular narratives in the view to find valuable common ground between two hugely influential blockchain communities (Cardano and Bitcoin). Episode 3 in this multi-part series explores the worshiping of idols, cult narratives, divisive founders and decentralized governance in blockchain. We delve into comparisons between Satoshi Nakamoto and Charles Hoskinson, analyze cult like behaviors in both communities, explore the divisive nature of blockchain leaders or founders and discuss the pathway to truly decentralized governance.
    Many share the opinion that charismatic leaders and influential voices in both the Cardano and Bitcoin communities dominate the discourse, leading to echo chambers where dissent is stifled, and truly decentralized governance is claimed to be compromised by idol worship and gatekeepers. But what if blockchain as a system could transcend this? What if the power of blockchain could be reclaimed by its community, steering away from these social pitfalls? Moreover what if this has been built into the roadmap and vision all along?
    Today we will delve into the heart of these issues, explore the impacts of these social constructs and reveal the pathway toward genuine, liquid and representative democratic governance in the blockchain space. Stay tuned, because what we are about to discuss might just change your perception of two of the most influential blockchain systems in the industry.

    Charles created cardano to be an upgraded Bitcoin & to be honest I don’t see anything else in the space that comes close to ada in the slightest.

    Most Cardano holders don’t understand Cardano well enough to contribute intelligently with their vote. If you theoretically agree on this (even if you don’t think it’s so) how is governance going to help?

    • @JTC33
      @JTC33 16 днів тому

      The more Ada they have, the more they will have to learn and understand about Cardano to make more informed decisions. Only a fool would risk a large amount of ADA without understanding it in depth. Your voting power is proportional to the ADA you hold, so it's not like a true f&cked up democracy like in the US with one person one vote.

      universal suffrage is the value proposition. People don’t have to vote, but the fact that they can is the essential feature. In practice most will not bother or will delegate their vote to a prominent Cardano nerd whom they trust. Governance structures will form and function with or without the understanding of the electorate just as they do in the material world.

      For such a case, there is vote delegation to a dRep and AFAIK, you can still vote on individual topics and override a dRep where you think you have expertise.

    • @jonathanlivingston7358
      @jonathanlivingston7358 16 днів тому

      @@Plingu698 what I’m trying to say is that there is the risk for voting to become similar in some respects, not all respects, to mainstream voting where people are clueless when they vote and they often don’t realize they are shooting themselves in the foot (Dems and Reps). How is Cardano any different? Socrates on democracy: “only educated people should vote. Would you let a person command a ship who knows nothing about sailing?” That’s what we see today.
      Also, how will cardano prevent corruption such as people getting money under the table to get their vote?

    • @S-PIEN
      @S-PIEN  16 днів тому +2

      I have 100’s of questions about governance to, its complicated and Cardano doesn’t have all the answers. This will be an iterative process that will evolve over time. Specifically about not all ADA holders having the knowledge to contribute intelligently to voting, this is where D-reps will come in. If you don’t feel comfortable but identify a community member who you trust then your vote can be delegated.
