    Cross play being implemented is such a saving grace. I was genuinely worried that I would have to pick between playing with my brothers/ family on PS5 or playing with my online discord buddies on Steam.

    With Monsters like Doshaguma and Balahara hunting in Packs of like 4-6 members I really hope we see Seltas Queen make a Comeback.
    Having Seltas Queen summon like 4 Seltas and have them do organized aerial attacks while the Queen tries to run us over is gonna be fun.

    Something that I haven’t seen said much; two balahara jumping on doshaguma maybe means that the outcome of turf wars may depend on how many homies monsters have available to fight the opps. Which in my opinion is way more realistic and makes turf wars much more unpredictable!!

    I'm pretty sure The unknown monster is flying wyverns as it only got a pair of wings and legs without extra hands. And the skeleton seems like steve.

    Idk why everyone is convinced it’s an elder. Gore is NOT the only monster to use its wings like arms. Astalos exists and it too is a electrical flying wyvern that uses it’s wings to attack or Seregios who also walks with them. That and the fact that this mysterious wyvern lacks 6 limbs

    Monsters being more varied in its ai to be immersive and using the environments to their advantage is wonderful. Smarter monsters are always good.

    The 'seamless transition between gameplay and cutscenes' actually was only HALF in World. World had seamless transitions from cutscenes to gamplay, but not the other way around. In hunts, you'd enter an area and it'd fade to black to load the cutscene. In this Wilds trailer, we see the seamless cut from running towards the quicksand pit to falling into in the cutscene. It's a subtle addition, but the MH team clearly want to give it some attention.

    Had a buddy I used to play MH with on PSP and 3DS all the time as kids, but after we went the separate routes of PS/Xbox respectively that came to an end. Felt great to call him after the trailer to inform him that we are, in fact, back as fuck.

    Static electricity is what the monster is utilizing not generating electricity. Listen to the sound it makes when it crackles and pops.
    Also the wing tips look like lightning rods.

    The large lightning wyvern:
    Diablos/Bazel stance, 4 limbs, not 6, horns that can change between horizontal and forward, railgun attack, divided shovel chin, gold and lapis colour scheme.
    My guess it's gonna be called a Luzalos or Luxalos or something. Follows the OS end name for the typing (Astalos, Rathalos, Diablos, Ukanlos, Seregios)

    About the size of monsters, I think due to previous entries, our mind thinks that only herd of small monsters can be found and large monsters exist as individual monsters on a map at a given time. But now powerful systems are able to render a herd of same large monsters and our mind mistakes them for small monsters.

    The new monster's blue stuff is probably the source of his lightning, whether they have glands or whether they draw it from the storm. This is because the only reason to channel the lightning on his back would be if he's channeling from somewhere, and you can see at 31:23 that his tail still has an afterglow. I can see why it would be good to have the lightning organ far away from the top half of the body (where your heart/brain is), and then they contort their body and horns to create a pathway for the lightning, so as to attack directly at their line of sight. 2 implications of this:
    1>> Part Breaks maybe very important for this monster.
    Break Horn = Harder to line discharge = Lightning spreads out instead of a targeted attack
    Sever Tail = No lightning source? (Although I don't want it to be Rathian so hopefully not)
    2>> The Wings. The Wingscythes have the same blue as the tail, so either they can also draw/produce lightning, or they help regulate excess charge by earthing the monster on the ground.
    All in all, absolute badass of a monster, really excited to see/fight/learn about him.

    My theory about the Monster size thing you mentioned: the sandy landscapes are so featureless they end up distorting the scale, since the monsters don't have anything next to them for comparison

    The tail of the feathered mount is akin to that of a dromeosaurs, like velociraptors, where it is actually flesh and spine, used to help them maneuver while running.

    That new monster is definitely a flying wyvern and seems to be the second monster to use a seregios like skeleton. The way its wings are touching the ground looks exactly like seregios. I personally think that it’s the flagship, but that might be copium because I really don’t want another elder dragon flagship after the three that we got last gen.

    I think that the new lighting boi is the flagship.
    Like you said, it's the perfect Lagiacrus type setup of "hey, that monster is causing some havoc", then we beat it and learn that it's not the cause of the lightning storms.
    The second reason i think he's the flagship is precisely because he's not an Elder. If you look closely you can see he's kind of like a Skyrim dragon where he only has 2 hindlegs and he uses his wings as frontal support for walking. So he seems to be a new type of Flying Wyvern that uses a modified version of the Magalas animation rig, which i think is a pretty exciting thing to show off for a flagship because it's not often that a monster category gets a different animation rig.

    About the talking palico's.
    If they were going to put their dialogue full of cat puns i think we would have heard one by now. Especially the "This is gonna be great!" line from the second trailer.
    Seems to me capcom is taking the palico's talking seriously.
    About the auto dodging.
    I severely doubt that you cannot get hit while you are mounted during active combat with the target monster.
    Just imagine.
    You are fighting a monster, you call your mount and stand still. It's not going to just automatically run and jump aside everytime you are about to get hit.
    I think it might be some toggle in the options since on the blog it says the mount can be directed to do that. Not that it just automatically does that.
    Almost every movement the mount makes in the trailer seems very manual to me. Including the firtst and second trailer.
    However i think this might not even be such a bad thing. For getting hit while mounted would get you a severe movement penalty like in elden ring. That you are forced to the ground without i-frames.
    Think of what that would do to to a cinematic experience like they showed in this trailer.
    You would just be dead. So, the mount jumps to the side a little and saves the entire sequence.
    It also means that because capcom is giving us such a powerful ally, means they can also take it away and leave us without all those advantages (like weapon swapping) maybe during arena hunts?
    TLDR: I Trust capcom to not be stupid with the mount.

    Why did people have so many expectations with this trailer? They literally said it would be for showing off a new monster, they never said it would be for explaining or showing off mechanics.

      because them saying last week, "show off a new monster" means more than just a quick glimpse, so that means we will see it in action and by doing so, to lets us see the hunter doing more stuff as well.
      which we did see but it was more about what we can do on the sekret which people are overlooking.
      also a second trailer wasnt expected either, i think most were thinking we would just see the monster, not more cutscenes with a brand new trailer all together ect, which ends up diluting the gameplay we get to see.

    Why has nobody been thinking of their being Alphas amongst the large herd, that being the reason for the varying sizes. The Doshugama Alphas have a Red hue to their fur and are larger. That doesn’t exactly mean the others are lesser monsters but rather support monsters.

    On monster sizes feeling weird, it's basically due to perspective.
    Specifically a perspective we don't usually get in MonHun.
    Typically the map zones we see monsters in aren't very large comparatively to the monster.
    But here in wilds, the zone is massive.
    In World/Rise, 3 monsters in a zine made it cramped it as hell, but we see that isn't the case in Wilds, which speaks to the sheer size of the map.

    I think the scaling problem comes from the sparse locations where they have been putting these monsters in the trailers, so there is nothing that we can reasonably compare the size of the monsters to besides our hunter when they get up close.

    Monsters joining forces in turf wars is a concept I've been keen to see ever since Lunastra and Teostra tag-teamed Nergigante. It'd be great if catching a monster solo entails the opponent easily defeating it, but then the tables turn if the first has friends rush in to help. Imagine how Rajang or Devijho, otherwise the victor in solo fights, end up having to retreat when Rathalos and Rathian double down on blazing them.

    Those spitting clam things from the market you were on about sound like scallops, if they had wavy edges on the shell then prolly scallops. They use that water shooting ability to help swim

    Cross play makes me really happy. I play on PC and even though the game has a few ten thousands of players rn it still feels like the game is empty and not many people say much but being able to play across all platforms means even when the game drops in player count you can probably still find people to play with

    For no cross-save, another reason for that may be console exclusive DLC. For example, MHW had console exclusive DLC for the PS4 featuring Horizon Zero Dawn features. Xbox got no such luck.
    Really hoping they don't have anything like that this time around.

    The new lightening wyvern is apprently an early sketch concept of Zinorge supposedly. The images have been making the rounds on the internet for a couple days now. Capcom seems to be adapting old concept art and ideas into this game like the Sekrit as well

      Probably. It seems like the herd monsters have a leader that is the actual target of our hunt. Doshaguma has the red furred one. Balahara Probably has one too

    8:30 I just want to note that most of the boss battles in DMC 5, such as the fight with Goliath, and the Ibushi & Narwa encounters in MHR, share this feature because they all use the RE engine, like MH Wilds. This likely results from the camera work, which I enjoy because the zooming out effect makes the player character appear small relative to the monster, effectively conveying the scale.

    In response to your remark at the 9:00 mark. Yes I noticed this. Even the first reveal trailer. The Ceratonoth even look small but then when you ride up next to them they're basically bigger than your mount. It's very interesting.. I think it's mostly the camera work.
    This was similar in World, but was mainly for cutscenes and when it transitioned to gameplay the monsters weren't as big

      I'm just saying that this game seems to be leaning more into World's style of story telling. And I think that unlike how World allowed you to do any quest in multiplayer but only if everyone saw the cutscenes first, MHWilds will probably have a single player village and multiplayer hub or something similar to that.

    My understanding is the auto-dodging is to avoid herds (coz it'd otherwise be almost impossible to keep track of what every monster is doing in herds these big, considering these are large monsters and hence have complex set of movesets), but I am curious on how it translates to single-combat... or maybe auto-dodge only dodges "simpler" moves, considering we get trapped in the sand-trap as well (which being a behaviour of the monsters as per the description, will probably translate into a move in terms of gameplay) -- so basically run fast to stay out of range, auto-dodge lunges and spits, but unable to dodge traps or combos or AoE attacks.

    Amazing thing is those new leviathans, the Balaharas, have a similar design to Dalamadur and similar bodies to Lagiacrus and Agnaktor which means, we finally may be seeing Lagiacrus and possibly Agnaktor and Dalamadur. Especially Lagiacrus.

    I imagined that the auto dodge while on the mount is more tied to the raifer rider like mode where it auto tracks the monster. Notice how the Seikret, I mean Palizard, keeps running in the same direction, this level is probably some what if an on-rails section where your Palizard follows the other guy.

    Crossplay kind of softens the need for cross-save. I only cried about saves in the past because i was buying 2-3 copies of the game to play with everyone i wanted to play with. Im over the moon with this news 😊
    Also, I hope Lance gets some special love for mounted combat, being a lance and all.

    Regarding auto-evade on Seikret versus "brandishing" your weapon, I think this could mean you have a choice between the two options. I remember World had a default setting to auto-sheath and I think GenU started you with an item that enabled auto-guard. In both cases, the auto action was considered a beginner-friendly default stste that players could turn off or remove. Perhaps the mount auto-evading can be turned off in favor of the ability to spank with your sword as you ride past. Either way, it looks fun.

    I think the spear weapon that the NPC is holding is a real fun and interesting theory. Because in Monster Hunter Rise SB were armor skills and switch skills that allowed to play the bow as a melee weapon. And I allways called it the 15th weapon "the spear". Well now i really hope that I was right back in Rise and we could maybe see a new weapon building on that xD

    I did notice the scale "issues" if we want to call them that. Specifically in the scene where the hunter is blocking the Doshaguma with his greatsword at the end lf an earljer trailer. The Doshagumas mouth looks like the height of the hunter where in other scenes the hunter is bigger than it's head and more.

    I reckon Elden Ring is actually a good point of reference for what mounted combat might look like. You maybe get one input for swinging on either side of your Seikret and then maybe an option for a secondary action/attack type, but no complex combos.
    Like, for example, I imagine lance players might be able to choose between doing just quick stabs, or charging with the lance couched to point straight forward, which you might do to initiate a fight.

    I'm in two minds about Seikret's auto dodge. On one hand it would make sense if it sees a projectile or whatever coming that it would get out of the way without the hunter needing to tell it to. On the other hand it takes control away from the player and isn't as engaging for the player as initiating the dodge yourself. It's a question of how much are you playing as your hunter who is riding and controlling a mount versus playing as both the hunter and the mount simultaneously. In a majority of games I'd say the later is preferable but sometimes giving the mount a small amount of autonomy can make them feel more like a separate creature... but again, doing so can make the player feel like they don't have control which can be good or bad depending on what kind of game you're making.
    I'm assuming auto dodge will only work while you aren't attacking or sharpening or healing and only things like projectiles can be dodged. I don't imagine your mount I-frame dodging through Rathalos flying claw swipes, for example, and even if it dodged a fireball it might be possible for the explosion from the fireball to still get you.
    Hearing that there was going to be a village sort of dashed my hopes for a sort of 'roaming village' hub via the sandship (or airship later if you could upgrade it to one). I imagine once you clear the Doshaguma from the village that the crew unpacks the ship and sets up shop within it. It's fortunate that you've brought your own smithy with on the expedition because as others have pointed out it appears that the natives here don't seem to understand the concept of actually hunting the monsters... which by the way would disprove the idea that the guy's walking stick thing is a new weapon since they don't really have proper hunter weapons in this land.
    Speaking of that, it will be interesting to see first hand how people even survive in the Monster Hunter world without hunting. Being able to hunt large monsters and use their materials for crafting stuff (not even just armor and weapons) would metaphorically kickstart these people from the stone age to the iron age.

    Thor Magala doesn't generate the lightning but channels it. There is an uber-powerful elder dragon that causes the storms though.

    My theory is that Thor Magalas tail is a lightning rod like the spikes on those herbivores but Thor actually uses it offensively by redirecting the lightning to its horns and blasting it at you.

    Okay one more comment. I think the great sword is thrown at you by Gemma who just made it. It's your first weapon so it's wrapped nice and pretty. But I would love to see a Palico chuck that greatsword. Meowscular Chef has a disciple!

    I only skip cutscenes after I’ve seen them once. I usually use that time to answers msgs or grab a drink or snack. Or have a bio break.

    The auto dodging could be an equiped skill with cooldown like in previous games or like the mantle that auto dodges for a certain amount of time. I dont think they remove the skill requirements for mh that much with wilds

      It's to make the game more approachable and get more players. They started with World and it paid off. We got walking while drinking, sharpening while riding, camps as full replenish locations, and even removing negative skill stats. Heck in Rise we don't have to track and they took away hot and cold drinks without properly illustrating environmental hazards. 🤷‍♂️ People are gonna buy it regardless.

    regarding the auto dodging, it does say you can direct it to dodge, so it might be something you can turn off. but if you have constant herds it might be a good thing to have the auto dodging. it really depends on how they implemented it. Also with the voices, i just hope there are a few more voice choices and not one where you have to change how it sounds with a slider. And i am so curious how big the maps will be. And how big lobbies then can be, because after playing World with bigger lobbies then going to Rise with only 4 people was a little disappointing.

    Don't know if anyone noticed but the slinger ammo from the ground can be "slingered" from far, sort of like a hook shot, saw this while rewatching the first trailer

    I think the size thing is probably FoV related. Like, a lot of these shots have a wide FoV and therefore everything looks a bit smaller until you have the hunter for scale.

    Not sure how I feel about the Palico speaking, but I hope there's voice options that are less high-pitched. You know, maybe a more growly one. Though of course, the more voicelines there are going to be to record, the fewer voice options Capcom is likely gonna do because it's all extra time and work and cost, but the voice we have in the trailers is just a little too squeaky for my liking.

      I think the voice-acting purpose is for paid downloadable content. "Cheerful" "stoic" "Brave" etc can be purchased for the hunter/palico.

    i feel that for mounted combat, it will be very give to take and risky i think. Such as, if you want to attack while on your mount, you have the possibility of your seikrit being taken out and for the rest of the hunt, you can’t call it anymore. Maybe something like that.

    im excited to see how gamescom demo will be, this game looks even much more detailed than world. they seem like they are creating a much more immersive ecosystem, if the dessert already is already as expansive and detailed for its map, i can only imagine the other maps. with rounding up herds, i wonder how much of that mechanically will affect the game or how crucial it will be. that is the reoccurring thing since the teaser trailer. also that last monster shown, i wasnt tripping when i thought i saw gore magala. it seems like a magala variant for the plains. the way how its built for its environment too showcases that this variant has adapted to its area.

    About thor magala, just a tidbit for anyone who hasn't noticed but it hasn't got any forelegs, so in all likelihood it is just a regular flying wyvern and not an elder dragon/distant magala cousin

    I believe there are definitely varying sizes for the monsters. They might be making crown sizes more of an importance. That can help the whole "Pack Alpha" thing be more prevalent. SUPER PUMPED for this game!

    When the teaser trailer showed up few months ago, I was worried for combat mounting. Now as the first and second trailer dropped turns out combat mounting is the "thing" for Wild much like underwater combat for Tri.

    I guess the seikret Dodge Will be automatically when is not in manual use, they said that you can tell seikret es where to go automatically previosly, i think thats where is gonna be automatically

    IMO the size seems off because most of the trailer the camera is zoomed out and the hunter is mounted on the Seikret, if the Seikret is about the size of a horse (maybe a little smaller) and you ever rode one you know how tall they can be.

    world and rise had its own friends list (friends code/lobby) system separate from in build friends lists on steam or nintendo online etc etc.
    So more than likely they're just improving the netcode of this system.
