Burma ( present Myanmar)fought against UK 3 times in 1822,1852 and 1885 and finally was defeated by UK and was colonized till IJA( Imperila Japan's Army) came to Burma to fight against UK. The Burmese king Thibaw Min(1859-1916)and his royal families(his queen and 4 daughters) at that time were captured by UK Army and were robbed all their wealth and were thrown into a dirty and small wagon of an ox-drawn carriage from their castle and were abandoned in India. One of his eldest daughter was sold in India to an Indian soldier who had already his wife.Other his daughters died in the poverty in India.This is waht UK did in Burma.

When I was a teen, I remember a Japanese student being surprised by some of the atrocities Japanese soldiers committed. She thought Japanese soldiers during WW2 were "nice." The image Americans get of Kamikazes, underhanded ambushes, and massacres against POWs and civilians by Japanese troops isn't taught in Japan at all, which is sad, because they don't understand why a lot of their neighbors still sometimes hold grudges.

As a Japanese person, I understand that the Japanese government was wrong. And we should do all we can to apologize for the military's action. However that being said, Both Chinese and Korean Government must ask themselves what specifically they want. I realize that apologies and donation will not be enough, but its not like we can go back in time and stop it from happening. Furthermore, in my view, it is extremely archaic to pin the fault of Imperial Japan to our current generation. The current generation is not at fault for Imperial Japan's actions. I remember my cousin telling me a story about him explaining Japan’s war crimes in Indonesia to his Japanese college friends. He was studying abroad in Japan. Long story short, they didn’t know ANY of it. They even mocked him for being “racist”, until he showed wikipedia articles. BUT, they were still hesitant. So, he showed the famous incidents like Nanking, unit 731, comfort women, romusha, etc. They apologized to him on that day. One of the girls even became teary. It’s amazing how they can apologize to the outside world so easily when they didn’t even educate their citizens on their atrocities. Furthermore, in my view, it is extremely archaic to pin the fault of Imperial Japan to our current generation. The current generation is not at fault for Imperial Japan's actions.
