Benn vs. Tavares in epic final day Art Ross battle

- Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars and John Tavares of the New York Islanders (as well as Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins) were in a heated final-week battle for the top scorer's award in the 2014-15 NHL regular season.
April 8th, two games left in the season for Jamie Benn who has 80 points. Crosby and Tavares each have 83, with Tavares holding the tie-breaker (more goals scored). Benn tacks on 3 assists to tie the other two by the end of the night, but Tavares holds the tie-breaker on him, too.
April 10th, Tavares and Crosby face off against each other. Each get a point to up the ante on Benn. All three will play on the final day of the regular season, with one last chance to determine who is the highest scorer in the league.
This video is the chronological story of that fateful April 11th. Crosby and Tavares begin their games roughly a period ahead of Benn and therefore leave Benn with the 3rd period to decide his fate for himself. - Спорт

I went to this game for my birthday, and by the time the clock had ticked down to 2:30 I was so sure he wasn't going to get it. Totally cried when he did, not gonna lie.

That final shift was absolutely incredible to watch in the AAC. Just absolute dominance and drive by all 4 guys to dominate play and get the captain the puck. Thats a captain who has earned the love and respect of his teammates. Benns cross ice backhand pass to Daley w 35 seconds to go was filthyyy. I definitely cried when I was there and tear up every time I watch this video. Let's go stars

This was honestly one of the most exciting days of regular season hockey I've ever seen, down to the last eight fucking seconds!! God I was salty when Tavares lost, but what a way to go down.
I still remember this night! I was so happy when Jamie Benn won the Scoring Race! Such a great night.

Captain fucking clutch. He wanted that Art Ross and he got it in extravagant fashion. I still can't believe he is the scoring leader for this year. I still can't believe that he's this good. From the fifth round in 2007 to now has been amazing us Stars fans. Watching Benn grow and mature has been amazing. He has never had a season where he was not on pace for less than 20 goals. He has always been on pace for 60 points except for his rookie year. He brought the whole package and he still has it. Jamie Benn, he is going down in Stars history as our best draft steal and one of the best leaders, powerforwards, and players in franchise history.

I love how his teammates reactions,it shows of what kind of a Captain he is. I’m hoping he will raise a Stanley Cup before he retires.
Jamie's lack of excitement or wanting to not show it, shows what kind of captain he is. This is a huge moment for him and all he cares about is the Stars not making playoffs.

Jamie Benn in my opinion is the most underrated player in the NHL. My top 3 players in the league wouldn't be Crosby, Ovi, Tavares. It's Stamkos, Benn, Tavares.

Stamkos? Best player? No. Tbh one of the most overrated players in the NHL = Stamkos. Like, honestly what has he done since St. Louis left? He is a great player and I love him but he most definitely is one of the overrated players.

Yar, agreed. The biggest point of this particular game was the way the team played. They went out and got him that Art Ross trophy. Then, they realised "Hey, we can play like this any time we want to. So, why dont we do it every night?" Thus far, in the 2015-2016 season, they have played that way in the large majority of games. Klingberg is the spark of offensive defenseman the team has needed. He will be huge in any and all Cup runs. I wouldn't be surprised if they do like the Blackhawks and get 3 in 5 years.
I wouldn't go that far. Their defense is atrocious, and the goaltending leaves a lot to be desired. Offensively they're a juggernaut, but as far as "complete team" I think there are a few teams ahead of them. They'll win A cup soon, but so will the Caps, the Isles, the Blues and the Preds. Too much talent not to.
They are 9th in goals allowed. That is not atrocious defense. Last year when they were 26th in goals alowed, that was atrocious defense. The fact that they are #1 in goals forced makes the defense look that much better. Maybe we will see Stars vs Caps in the Finals :)

With all the major respect to Jamie Benn (cheered for him to do it) I've got just the slightest of impressions that Nashville did not make the full effort the last couple shifts. They removed the goalie knowing there was zero chance to move in the standings. Jones could've stopped the empty net attempt. And what a gaffe by Stalberg on the clearance. Weird indeed at this level of play. Not a slight suspicion of Nashville favoring Benn here, but weird. On a side note - Cody Eakin was a hell of a player.
